Scam? Something being delivered today that I haven’t ordered?!

I received a text message and email from DPD this morning saying that they are delivering something from Curry’s.

I have definitely not ordered anything. No one in my house has ordered anything. It’s a genuine link to DPD and they are not asking for money. I can see the driver on the tracking.

Could this be a scam of some sort? But what would be the scam and how do they have my name, address, phone number and email?

Thanks!

Could someone have ordered a gift for you and forgot to mention it? Early Xmas present etc?

Beachrules · 25/10/2022 12:47

I has exactly that last week. Had ordered nothing from Currys - turned out it was a phone upgrade from ID mobile that was being delivered from Currys for some reason!

Ooh, I'm invested now!
Have you checked your credit card statements for any unexpected Curry's payments?

Keep us updated! I was once sent a duplicate of something I had ordered 4 months previously (and received at the time) from Pets at Home - could be that/a glitch in their system?

LiIo · 25/10/2022 12:50

@Beachrules OMG. I am with ID so that sounds like it could be it. But I own my own phone. Sim only contract. Definitely not upgrading. How odd but that must be it!

Sorry guys, looks like it might turn out to be a boring thing to do with my phone network 😂

And that’s my excitement for the day gone 🤣

Btw, Curry's were useless: "I'm glad to inform you that as I have checked you have not ordered anything. Please ignore all text and emails."

I once received a completely spurious parcel from Amazon - had my full name and address on it, but wasn't showing in my account. Full of random kitchen stuff like chopping boards and an egg whisk.

Amazon were no help at all, weren't interested in having it back, and it clearly wasn't a present from anyone....so I ended up just keeping it. Chopping boards currently at uni with DD1. Grin Still no idea.....

Do you have the order reference that you can give to Curry's? Or an online account with Curry's or ID that you cab log into?

Bigboysmademedoit · 25/10/2022 13:05

My ID Mobile last month also arrived from Curry’s! I’d forgotten until a previous poster mentioned it. I was also confused by the tracking 🤔

GlorifiedChair · 25/10/2022 13:29

id Mobile is owned by Currys. DH got a SIM from them recently and it came by DPD too (no handset - just a SIM).

HopScotchBump · 25/10/2022 13:47

Oh, that's my Tuesday ruined, then!

Light-hearted, of course! Glad the mystery is solved!

Hi, perhaps a bit late, did you get to the bottom of it? I had the same things happen to me today, but not from Currys. What happen afterwards please?

Alic3ecila · 05/08/2024 10:21

... very late BUT this is happening to me today too. But from a company called unielectronics through DHL. This was the only thing i could find on the internet that seemed the same
