Pixiedust1234 · 24/10/2022 22:51

No, its the start of autumn here. Damp with heavy hints of fireworks.

MindfulBear · 24/10/2022 22:54

Where are you!?
Yes. It has warmed up again and doesn't feel quite so autumnal as it did a few weeks ago.
Not sure I agree about the smell of a heat wave tho...... will go out and check tomorrow!!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 24/10/2022 22:56

I was just thinking I haven't had the electric blanket on that u was desperate for last week 😂

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 24/10/2022 22:56

I was desperate for

YerAWizardHarry · 24/10/2022 22:57

It was dark just after 6pm here and people have been letting off fireworks! Also had extreme rain and fog over the last 36hrs

solania · 24/10/2022 22:58

North Wales here and I’ve been sweating for the past three days! I’m not ready to get my summer clothes back out again…

ReedOfFate · 24/10/2022 23:00

Oh I also smelt summer today. It was weird; I was tramping through undergrowth which was all dripping wet but there was a warm smell in the air!

Whynobreadpudding · 24/10/2022 23:04

I remember last December wearing a t shirt some days as it was so mild I don’t mind now if this happens again as I hate being cold with no heating. Just as well with the energy crisis.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 24/10/2022 23:09

I know what you mean, I was at a pumpkin trail in a horticultural college gardens today, and between the rain yesterday and the warm sun today it smelled absolutely amazing. Everything was lush and green, the trees still have their leaves, loads of flowers blooming - lovely.

VioletInsolence · 24/10/2022 23:15

Ooh yes how lovely! I’d be so happy and not at all worried if it stayed like this all winter. Imagine how wonderful it will be for your children in thirty years…they’ll be delighted🙄

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 24/10/2022 23:16

We had snow yesterday (Canada)

EmmaH2022 · 24/10/2022 23:17

Yes OP but more last week
in London.

EmmaH2022 · 24/10/2022 23:17

I guess summer rather than heatwave!

Potato28 · 24/10/2022 23:18

Gonna be 22’ this week

Inthisissue · 24/10/2022 23:28

None of you worried that this is totally abnormal apart from VioletInsolence who I think is pondering the same as me?

Yeah this really. October shouldn't be this warm. My Mexican orange blossom is in full bloom again, mad!

Youngatheart00 · 24/10/2022 23:37

I know bigger picture it’s not good news but have to say it’s a little bit serendipitous that it’s so mild when we are all facing huge hikes in energy bills……. Much prefer it to it being low single digits and everyone stressing about putting the heating on already

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 24/10/2022 23:44

I've seen the photo on SM that cherry blossoms are blossoming. And heard on the news from other country the same thing.
It's nice living in a mild climate countries that don't have a lot of effect yet. But these signs are not something I would celebrate or be happy about. Sorry for being joyless, but that's what I truly feel after reading a post like this.

KnickerlessParsons · 24/10/2022 23:51

Very warm here in North Wilts too. I was out in a T shirt earlier.

Justkidding55 · 24/10/2022 23:54

Yes it’s very strange. Been sweating all week and was even thinking it must be menopause.

Justkidding55 · 24/10/2022 23:55

It’s really not good for plants and insects and crops though

EmmaH2022 · 24/10/2022 23:56

Potato28 · 24/10/2022 23:18

Gonna be 22’ this week

I remember being in a pub garden on Halloween night about 12 years ago and it was 25c. Well maybe it was about 4pm? Within a couple of weeks it was normal November weather.

Isaidnoalready · 24/10/2022 23:57

My strawberry plant is flowering again I know it doesn't get far due to the hedgehog but there are loads of flowers! It's October!
