Whats everyone doing for Halloween this week?

We’ve watched some films and gone pumpkin picking.

Kids are teens. We've done our but handing out sweets and going trick or treating. This year the teens have extracurriculars then we will have tea, eat sweets, watch TV and ignore the door. Like I said we've done our bit at answering the door.

bloodyeverlastinghell · 23/10/2022 14:03

There is a school disco on Friday, community party on Saturday (will help decorate/ run a stall for faux guising), spooky story and craft session on Sunday. I’m sacking off the Monday as I hate asking strangers for sweets!

Nothing. It's bullshit.

JenniferBarkley · 23/10/2022 14:13

School disco this Thursday. Next weekend we have a pumpkin patch booked, and then out of school club/nursery party on Halloween itself. Kids are still young but might bring the eldest trick or treating this year.

MajorCarolDanvers · 23/10/2022 14:15

Sorting out my decorations today.

Kids have got a few parties to go to.

Eldest thinks he is too old for guising so is going to stay in and hand out the loot to the guisers on the night.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 23/10/2022 14:41

Not a lot! We never did a lot when I was growing up either - much more into Christmas. DD13 is going to an early party on Halloween itself then trick or treating with her friends. I’ll get a couple of bags of sweets but we don’t get many people calling as we’re on a fairly busy road.

Nothing

Doughnuts68 · 23/10/2022 14:57

Adults Halloween party at a local ish workies. Going with friends. I love Halloween. So do the friends I'm going with. We'll all be dressed up. 🎃👹

MaggieMagpie357 · 23/10/2022 15:14

Teens are having some friends over on Halloween, I'll decorate the house while they're at school then they will make some cupcakes, have dinner and hang out (they're supposed to hand out the sweets to any trick or treaters but I suspect that job will fall to me!)

Soubriquet · 23/10/2022 15:19

Not a whole lot. Long term illness still not diagnosed. Having an extra bad week due to having covid.

But, I’m gonna watch some Halloween stuff with my kids, and attempt to do the annual treasure hunt with them on the weekend.

SNWannabe · 23/10/2022 15:21

nightshift :(

Croque · 23/10/2022 15:23

Boil a few toads, pick a few warts, cast a few spells - it's just a regular day in our household.

doubleshotcappuccino · 23/10/2022 15:23

In the words of the mum from
Schitts Creek : Let's not and say we did ...

eddiemairswife · 23/10/2022 15:25

Nothing. Anyway it's next week, not this.

LoveLarry · 23/10/2022 15:32

Has Halloween moved from 31st October?

Soubriquet · 23/10/2022 15:34

LoveLarry · 23/10/2022 15:32

Has Halloween moved from 31st October?

No but this week is half term. The kids go back to school on the 31st which I find weird.

Im expecting trick or treaters over the weekend instead of Monday. Though they will probably come then too

tiredofthiisshit21 · 23/10/2022 15:36

@Soubriquet you expect the schools to close for Halloween? That complete bullshit non-event?

Soubriquet · 23/10/2022 15:37

No I don’t expect schools to close for Halloween but half term usually lines up with it so the kids are off.

I like Halloween.

JenniferBarkley · 23/10/2022 15:40

Our half term is next week (NI). I would find it weird to be in school on Halloween - different cultural expectations in different places. Halloween will be a bank holiday in ROI this year I presume given it's a Monday.

LoveLarry · 23/10/2022 15:43

Ours schools go back tomorrow

Snugglemonkey · 23/10/2022 15:45

We did some Halloween baking today, a pumpkin loaf and some mummy sausage rolls. We have been to a pumpkin patch and have a wee pumpkin display at the door, but we won't carve until next weekend. We are just taking a break from putting up the decorations, but won't be properly finished until we do the crafting activities and hang those. Next weekend we are going to a spooktakular funfair. On Halloween we will trick or treat and give out the treats.

mondaytosunday · 23/10/2022 15:46

I've got the pumpkins - one I grew (it suddenly appeared in the front garden after I removed an overgrown Hebe - nice surprise)! There are three primaries with walking distance so 100 plus trick 'o treaters come to the door - a pain to keep getting up but the costumes are fun and the kids are a delight. My kids really enjoyed going out when they were young.
So we'll carve the pumpkins next weekend and hang a skeleton on the door and await the ghouls and goblins!

Snugglemonkey · 23/10/2022 15:47

Oh, we will be watching spooky movies and DS has a Halloween disco too. It isn't half term here, schools are back, but we still do things.
