Is it raining cats and dogs where you are?

Because it is here. Biblical, almost!

What will you be doing on a rainy day like today?

I'm thinking a jigsaw, or something sedate like that. Waiting for everyone to get up, so I'm having a coffee and listening to every single gutter struggling to cope!

Yes tipping it down, and so dark I've got the lamps on. Let the dog out for a wee and she's sensibly gone back to bed, once she sees the rain she soon decides that she is giving a walk a miss. I've prepared the veg and the batter for the Yorkshires for a roast later. I'm having a cuppa before I set up the ironing board and the audiobook to do the week's ironing.

Yes - East anglia. Will be visiting family so the baby can play inside with his big cousins.

Peridot1 · 23/10/2022 09:47

Raining hard here. Dog wants to go for a walk but she doesn’t like the rain so she’s sulking.

Nothing exciting planned here. I need to do some washing and some clearing out of some stuff for a charity shop run tomorrow. We need to put a couple of things up in the loft if DS can help. But he is doing some research for his dissertation subject which needs to be done today so he may not be keen.

Afternoon will be reading a Christmas magazine I bought and then my book.

Dinner is a Nigel Slater chicken recipe with roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese. And wine.

I should probably go and have a shower and get dressed too.

Sillystripytail · 23/10/2022 09:48

Yup, chucking it down for a while now. Frenchie dog has been out in the garden but hates the rain so won't entertain a walk! Going to in laws for lunch so that'll be niceSmile

JuneOsborne · 23/10/2022 09:49

Seems to be easing a bit now, and it seems to be getting a bit lighter too.

Stopped now but hammered it down for most of the early morning. DH and I sleep in a loft conversion with Velux in the roof. It is particularly loud in there and woke me several times.

DS2 is currently playing his Switch, DS1 is grumbling in the kitchen about buttering toast (he's 11 and likes me to act as his PA, today I've taken a quiet stand and suggested that the only way he'll get better at buttering toast ie not tearing it, is to practice). DH is in bed still.
I have uni work to get on with so I should probably use my time better than perusing MN.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/10/2022 09:53

Yes, S/W Yorkshire. Just packing to go to the Lake District .... rather wishing i'd booked Greece!!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 23/10/2022 09:54

Chucking it down here. Going to go on zwift in the garage.

The staffy point blank refused to go out for a morning wee. But my old jrt was straight out in the rain and thunder.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 23/10/2022 10:07

We had biblical rain complete with thunder and lights last night (south west) it's calm again now, clear skies.

Weirdly mild for the time of year as well.

OldTinHat · 23/10/2022 10:08

It was earlier but blue skies now.

JudgeRindersMinder · 23/10/2022 10:09

Nothing where I am although I think it rained overnight…in fact it’s brightening up and I’m contemplating hanging washing out!

Lovelycupofcoffee · 23/10/2022 10:10

It’s just stopped here but it was absolutely chucking it down . The cat was not impressed as he likes to go out and survey his kingdom before breakfast 😅

pointythings · 23/10/2022 10:11

Pouring buckets here in East Anglia, the cats aren't even going in the catio because of course some of it gets through the mesh. No real plans today because I'm travelling this evening so it'll all be about making sure the packing is right. Other than that I'm going to cuddle the aforementioned cats.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 23/10/2022 10:12

SW London and tipping it down, grey and miserable. There goes the visit to the garden centre.

RoseBucket · 23/10/2022 10:12

House is really dark and love listening to the rain, also had to use an umbrella for the dog so she would wee 😆

sashagabadon · 23/10/2022 10:12

Yep!

Thearex · 23/10/2022 10:12

Been hammering it down all morning, but just seems to have eased off. (West Mids)

DP is asleep off a night shift, I'm under a blanket reading/web browsing. Might put a film on this afternoon & have a quiet one at home.

GinasGirl · 23/10/2022 10:14

Yep! It's hammering down here in Berkshire.

FourTeaFallOut · 23/10/2022 10:14

No, just looked at the rainfall radar and don't think we are going to cop it until midday.

MrsMitford3 · 23/10/2022 10:15

Also SE.

Keep looking at the forecast as my dog doesn't mind the rain but will be soaked and shivery in about 5 mins so not worth it.
Keeps saying it will clear later but the rain has obviously not listened to the forecast.

Absolutely grim.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 23/10/2022 10:16

horrendous here in Cambridge. We are about to drive to Buckinghamshire for Sunday lunch with friends. We are dropping the dog off with our son on the way. It will be tricky to persuade the dog to walk the 5 yards to the car in this weather!

Frostine · 23/10/2022 10:17

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads

it's fine here in Cumbria this morning , get yourself here asap.
Can't vouch for this afternoon or the rest of the week though !😅

catfunk · 23/10/2022 10:19

SE coast here, seems to be easing off a bit now after thunder and lightning in the early hours.
So I'm going to go to the supermarket for the weekly shop then the day will be spent pottering, food prep for the week as we both work long hours,housework/ ironing then making a roast for dinner.

vodkaredbullgirl · 23/10/2022 10:22

SW here, chucked it down about 4.30, as well as thunder and lightening. Dogs woke me up barking, then I couldn't go bark to sleep. Now the sun is shining but not sure for how long.
