Parenting hell podcast

I love listening to the parenting hell podcast and have listened for a couple of years now. Recently they have been referring to a guest who didn’t like their children very much and was a bit boring. I have an idea in my head of who they were talking about but wondered if anyone else had noticed this and had any ideas.

Male or female?

whambar1 · 22/10/2022 12:19

Harry Hill? I love the podcast too!

Newpuppymummy · 22/10/2022 12:19

Female. I was thinking it was Kate Lawler

Josh also fascinates me. He would literally drive me insane as a co-parent. Who takes their children to A&E so much?!

I love this podcast - maybe Kate Lawler, she was a bit dull

AnnieJ1985 · 22/10/2022 12:27

I think it was a boxer... wasn't there one with the son of a famous 80s/90s boxer, he was also a boxer? I am shite with names.

CoodleMoodle · 22/10/2022 12:29

I've wondered this too. If it was a man I'd say Connor Benn, it's the only episode I had to switch off because he was such a prick. I even made it through Joe Wicks - that was like pulling teeth, Josh & Rob had to work so hard!

I didn't mind the Kate Lawler episode too much, but it wasn't particularly memorable.

AnnieJ1985 · 22/10/2022 12:32

Connor Benn! Couldn't remember his name

Howeverdoyouneedme · 22/10/2022 12:32

I wondered about this too. Guz Khan seemed a bit weird about his kids and I switched that one off as it wasn’t interesting.

Josh lives near(ish) to me and is totally representational of a certain type of lefty liberal arty East London parent who can’t get a grip so I find it amusing as he seems self aware of this.

Pancakeorcrepe · 22/10/2022 13:43

Josh is hilarious, love him 😂

mnahmnah · 22/10/2022 13:47

I’ve been wondering this too! But I have such a bad memory for details of who has been on it. There are some which have definitely been dull. I didn’t like the Myleene Klass one. She’s very full of herself. Some people who I’ve never heard of, therefore I don’t have a lot of interest. Especially the comedians who are obviously friends with them and they big them up and laugh a lot, when I can’t see it myself

Newpuppymummy · 22/10/2022 14:49

Agree some of the obscure comedians are less fun to listen to, I did enjoy the Myleen Klass and the Joe Wicks one though so I guess everyone is different. I really enjoyed the Danish Welsh one. I wasn’t a fan of her before that but I thought she sounded lovely on the podcast.

I think the Connor Benn episode was the only one I’ve not been bothered about listening all the way through. I really like the ones that are unexpectedly funny, sometimes from less well known people. I agree with the previous poster that the Denise Welch episode was very powerful.

Howeverdoyouneedme · 23/10/2022 07:10

I didn’t bother with the Denise one as I assumed I wouldn’t like it. I think I’ll go back and have a listen.

Howeverdoyouneedme · 23/10/2022 07:11

Weirdly, I’m a bit obsessed with trying to work out if Rob’s kids go to a private school. I think they might be as the holidays are somewhat out of kilter with state ones.

Do you think so? His holidays seem to tie with mine and I also live south east.

It's more Josh's DD's new school. Don't they start at 9.30am he was saying?? Which schools do that?! I assumed private.

Haha they do! He lives down my road and I know which school they go to, it's private

MassiveSalad22 · 23/10/2022 07:37

I thought the same re A&E OP, what was I hearing!! A&E for a low temp, twice!

Also Josh’s kids school starts at 9:30?? So weird!

Josh in general is just annoying 😄

Howeverdoyouneedme · 23/10/2022 08:06

I knew it! He’s totally got that vibe of ‘done well gonna use private’. Also there was this about people driving up a drive to drop off and I thought ‘yeah, total private school’.

I did wonder about the 9.30 thing as well for Josh. I assumed he went used a state school as there isn’t the option for easy access private schools round where he is, they’re all a drive away and that’s a nightmare in London at that time.

glamourousindierockandroll · 23/10/2022 08:15

I love this podcast but honestly, I only listen to the in-between ones, never the guests. I just like listening to Rob and Josh basically.

mnahmnah · 23/10/2022 08:21

Well if they do send their kids to private school, that’s spoiled it a bit for me. I’ve been a listener since the first episode and love it. Laugh out loud. But the whole premise of the podcast and the image they put out rehearse of themselves is normal, down to earth, going through the same as the rest of us. They’ve kept very quiet about that! Looking back, there are the little indications that the schools are different. But I assumed it was just a difference in area or something.

mnahmnah · 23/10/2022 08:21

*there

not rehearse

That’s a strange stance to take. The podcast is about parenting struggles, not financial ones.

Yes I only listen to the episodes without guests. I find most of the guests boring. Also I only Rob and Josh together they cancel out each other’s annoying qualities. Josh is far too worried and earnest about everything but Rob makes him lighter. Rob has a massive chip on his shoulder and is obsessed with proving his working class routes. Josh brings out his actual true middle class side.

I love the podcast but they really need each other! I read Robs book and it’s so whiny. It’s hard to feel sorry for someone who has as many holidays as he does.

Roots I mean!
