Does this make any sense to anyone? WTF? Who's to say that he'll return? Not to mention the risk to children as he won't be monitored while in Greece.

I know that there'll be a lot of information that wasn't included in the article but I'm struggling to see how anyone could think this was a good idea.

It's infuckingbelievable.

What a fool the judge is.

Like previously mentioned, who's to say the sick bastard will come back?

ParkheadParadise · 20/10/2022 11:26

Sadly I'm not shocked
The justice system in this country is FUCKED.
SICK BASTARD

gonutkin · 20/10/2022 11:27

It's insane I can't get my head around it. And it makes me think what kind of person is that judge to give this kind of freedom, my mind runs away and I think is the judge a secret paedophile too? Who has sympathy for these kinds of people. It blows my mind! If he comes back I will be gobsmacked

FionnulaTheCooler · 20/10/2022 11:31

I don't understand the bit about how pleading guilty means he is treated more leniently. Why does holding your hands up and admitting you've been an utter scumbag get you preferential treatment?

It’s an established part of our legal system. It also the victims the trauma of a trial.
He shouldn’t be going on fucking holiday though.

It's standard for all offences that potentially end in jury trial. It's not being 'treated more leniently', people who deny their guilt, force an expensive trial where their victims are often expected to testify, and are then found guilty are given longer sentences.

Admission of guilt is one of the first fundamental steps in rehabilitation. If you are denying it straight from the get go it isn't looked upon kindly, and rightly, you'll receive a longer sentence.

Someone should inform the Greek authorities, get him stopped at the airport and kick him out

Somanysocks · 20/10/2022 11:45

It would be good if he was denied entry at customs, but that probably won't happen.

As they say 'the law is an ass'.

HangerLaneGyratorySystem · 20/10/2022 11:49

I saw this earlier and thought WTAF - it would be amazing if Greek authorities refused him entry to the country - sick to think that he might just pop over to Kos and attack some kids there too.

arethereanyleftatall · 20/10/2022 11:58

I'm 47 years old. This is relevant to the following...in my life I have never had such little (none) faith in our law system as this past few years.
The priorities have gone so bat shit and woke, that I think the 2020s will absolutely be noted down in history as the decade the world lost the plot.
Rape? Murder? Peadophilia? Go for it.
Call a man in a dress a man? Off to jail.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/10/2022 11:58

Next week the news story will be Paedophile had absconded in Greece. Or wherever he's gone.

elderberryink · 20/10/2022 12:01

I have family in Kos. It has been shared on one of the village facebook groups (which is used by many tourists as well as locals), along with his mugshot. It has not escaped anyone's attention that he's booked his holiday to coincide with half term 😡 Unfortunately they cannot deny him entry because the sentence has not technically been passed, but rest assured that picture will be very widely shared on the island!

DuckTails · 20/10/2022 12:02

Might be worth complaining to the attorney general about this one

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/10/2022 12:02

Surely it's quite likely that he'll want a last hurrah before he may go to jail? Or as pp said disappear off into Europe or beyond completely, for good. He's a danger to children wherever he is. How ridiculous.

ParkheadParadise · 20/10/2022 12:13

The Evil Bastard who murdered my dd had access to a phone and his social media accounts while on remand.

OneCup · 20/10/2022 12:23

This is awful. Just thinking what message it sends to his victim and the victim's family. Never mind all the risks that his trip obviously entails.

He's not been sentenced yet though, had he? He's in the period between the initial plea and sentencing I think.

I reckon the question here is whether anyone who is on bail for a serious offence - whether they've plead guilty or not - should be allowed out of the country on holiday.

I totally agree. It's beyond depressing.

This needs an online petition to get the judge sacked. I wonder if the sick bastard let his victims have a holiday before he ruined their lives forever.

No. Not if they pose a risk to others which he clearly does.

This. Who is this dickhead of a judge?

feellikeanalien · 20/10/2022 19:19

Frankly it doesn't really shock me. Sex offenders who abuse children or possess indecent images of children rarely get hefty sentences. Lots of those with indecent images on their computers don't even get sent to prison.

Sentencing in this country is a joke.

Flowers I'm so sorry that your DD was taken from you like that. I know that you didn't get any form of "justice" either and to have the courts treat the man who murdered her like that is such an insult and shows no regard for you or your DD. Sometimes I swear that so many Judges don't live on the same planet as the rest of us.

You're right. It's a big fuck you to the victims and family, not to mention a big fuck you to the people of Kos, their children and other visitors.

I'll have to see if it's possible to complain because this really is madness.
