What's the craziest thing you've done while trying to hold a baby?

Absolutely ashamed of this but I stupidly decided to start breastfeeding DD at 4am while desperately needing the toilet. After 10 mins of holding it in, I couldn't hold it any longer and waddled to the toilet and had a wee, all while trying to keep DD firmly attached to my boob!

Has anyone ever done this before or anything equally as crazy while trying to hold a baby? Grin

That would only be crazy if she was 5 OP, that’s pretty standard bfing behaviour from my perspective! I remember doing a lot of mad things one handed while feeding DD

year3k · 18/10/2022 20:19

My first post birth poo was whilst breastfeeding. That was...interesting.

Bloodybridget · 18/10/2022 20:20

Well, sounds tricky but if you managed to wipe and not drop baby down the loo . . I'm sure people have done riskier things, can't add anything as I've never had a baby and have obviously been super cautious with other people's!

Squeezedsquash · 18/10/2022 20:20

multitasking.

extra points if you’re doing an online shop or mumsnetting at the same time.

SandraOMG · 18/10/2022 20:22

I've prepared snacks for my older dc while breastfeeding dc2. Awkward, but necessary!

I know someone who used to feed one of hers while doing the grocery shopping 😂

Then they get too big and you're forced to sit down to feed, but at least it's les frequent

SpaghettiSquash · 18/10/2022 20:24

I remember being impressed at my friend's ability to leap around the soft play centre with her toddler whilst breastfeeding her baby.

sanityisamyth · 18/10/2022 20:25

Sounds fairly normal?

tattychicken · 18/10/2022 20:26

Phone under one ear having a conversation whilst breastfeeding and cooking a spag bol and a toddler hanging on to my legs.

Toomanysleepycats · 18/10/2022 20:27

The only thing I’ve done is falling down the stairs while carrying my baby. I managed to keep hold of her and managed to land on my bum. Due to the recent birth I of course completely wet my self. But baby was fine.

ChickpeaPie · 18/10/2022 20:29

That’s not crazy 🤔think every breastfeeding mother has done that multiple times

Was about to say this 🤣

newmum104 · 18/10/2022 20:31

Sounds like it wasn't crazy after all! This is my first baby so everything is new to me.

MacroTwigg · 18/10/2022 20:35

Why are you ashamed of that?

wherearetheturrets · 18/10/2022 20:38

Can't remember the 'weirder' ones with dd1, but my strangest/most impressive with Dd2 are bfing while walking to school for school run, while bowling and while handcuffed to a table in an escape room.

Gettissuesgotissues · 18/10/2022 20:38

Following toddler round soft play

Shopping in IKEA

Walking around the park

There just isn't time to wait, not second or third time around!!!

PuttingDownRoots · 18/10/2022 20:41

I breastfed DD2 while chasing toddler DD1 around a splash pad style water park. (Avoiding the water!)

Brigante9 · 18/10/2022 20:41

Tried to walk down slippy stairs in new shoes, slipped, thank FUCK held onto the baby, the hallway below was tiled, it haunts me, what could have happened. I was in agony, having hit a stair extremely hard. I still have a dent in my arse.

BertieBotts · 18/10/2022 20:44

Definitely weed while holding all the babies. Public toilets sometimes there's nowhere to put them...

I've cooked with a baby strapped to me, breastfed on a moving bus (that was fine except he fell asleep and he was about 1 and enormous).

pinkhousesarebest · 18/10/2022 20:49

Drive and breastfeed dd
With a two year old in the back, driving toward Bordeaux instead of the other direction on the first Saturday in August. It took me 14 hours to get home.
That was 20 years ago and was the moment where I grew up and realised I couldn’t just fling babies in the car and do what I wanted. Utter nightmare.

Violettaa · 18/10/2022 20:50

I used to have a regular client call just as DD got back from nursery (aged 1 ish), which was perfect for a big feed.

Clients and baby both had excatly what they wanted from me, and it gave me a rare feeling of having cracked working motherhood.

40andfit · 18/10/2022 21:07

Pushing a toddler on a swing while holding/ feeding in rugby hold position.

Mommabear20 · 18/10/2022 21:10

I was holding DD (13 months) because she absolutely could not be put down (god knows why!) while cooking her dinner (spaghetti bolognas) and having contractions in early labour with DS! 😂 DH face was a picture when he got home! 🤣

breathcalmly · 18/10/2022 21:13

Having to pull newborn by her clothes along bed towards me to feed her as already had hands full with her twin sister 😳

Strokethefurrywall · 18/10/2022 21:14

When traveling with my babies, I used to use the airport bathrooms all the time with them attached in a baby Bjorn. Wasn't taking a stroller as my parents had one in Uk to use so had to practice going to the bathroom with them strapped to me at home.

EdithGrantham · 18/10/2022 21:14

Answering door to trick or treaters with cluster-feeding DD last year was fun, trying to stop some of the more excitable children grabbing handfuls of mini Mars bars whilst not exposing myself to them was quite tricky! Don't let the sneery posters get you down OP, so many things about motherhood are surprising to FTMs and you have to celebrate/laugh at/wonder at that stuff I think!
