What's the going rate for the tooth fairy?

First tooth lost in our house. Have no idea what the going rate is for a tooth these days? There's going to be a lot more teeth lost so don't want to set too high a precedent! How much do your children get from the tooth fairy??

£2 coins here. Have to be the £2 coin, not two £1s. 🙈😆

needthiswilderness · 17/10/2022 17:36

£5 for the first then two-pound coins for the rest! Def a lot more than I used to get but seems only fair with inflation 😁!

containsnuts · 17/10/2022 17:41

The first was 20p then I realised that was ridiculous since she'd need to loose the whole set to be able to buy anything.

The second came out unexpectedly when I didn't have any change so I left a £10 note. I can hardly go back on it now so it looks like it's £10 a tooth!

confusedlots · 17/10/2022 17:41

Thanks! Was thinking £2, but like the idea of £5 for the first one, then £2 for the rest, think I'll go with that!

What? How much? £5!!!
The South Devon tooth fairy is a bit more budget conscious and its 50p around here. DDs best friend gets the same.

ThatsRoughBuddy · 17/10/2022 17:43

£5 for first tooth and £2 coin for all the others here too.

£2 coins are still cool and magical to me (at age 41!) so it has to be one of them over a pound coin.

Celeryfavour · 17/10/2022 17:43

All sorts, depends what I can find! Often £1, sometimes a chocolate coin, I have done Lego people too!

sanityisamyth · 17/10/2022 17:45

£1

Scoundrella · 17/10/2022 17:48

£1 for first tooth then 50p … although I’m a cheapsake according to the kids in my ds1 class. They all got between £50-20 for first tooth and £5-10 next ones. (Not a rich area or private school etc) madness!

mondaytosunday · 17/10/2022 17:49

£5!!!!!! Wow.

milkysmum · 17/10/2022 17:49

A shiny £1 coin

Cazs818 · 17/10/2022 17:50

£5 here

HeyMicky · 17/10/2022 17:52

£2 for the first one then £1 after that. The tooth fairy doesn't carry folding money here

EnglishRose1320 · 17/10/2022 17:53

£1/£2 for the first tooth. Then around 50p for all future teeth, dependent on what change is to hand at the time.
