I know there’s been a few of these threads in the past but I just love them. Has anything creepy happened to you that you can’t explain?
my family tell me a lot that they find my flat to be creepy but I haven’t felt any scary vibes here.

Once opened my door to go to the car and a man with a baseball cap and clothes 80s style walked out from the back of my house. Looked straight ahead. I was so shocked I shut the door but then opened it again and he was nowhere to be seen. I think it was a time warp.

geonosis · 11/10/2022 22:04

Yep all the time. I sense a presence or something occasionally in houses, buildings and often see things, like my most recent is seeing a cat when stayed in an old hotel. Weird as the owner told me later yes other people have seen that same cat in that room! I have seen people appear standing feet from their hospital bed just before they died………spooky, only a glimpse though, fleeting.

When my sister died in a car accident I chose stargazer lilies for her wreath because we always set our alarms and got up to watch meteor showers and eclipses even when apart - we'd ring each other and watch together that way .

My son was 11 and has Aspergers. Exactly 3 weeks from the day of the funeral ds came and woke me up and said he had a message for me from my dsis. He said she loved the lilies, that I was very special to her , she was sorry for a disagreement between her and my then hubby , and that she was happy and fine and not to worry .

Ds was very matter of fact . Just delivered the message and went back to bed .

She died the day after my birthday which was 26th - and then my thermostat started to inexplicably set itself to 26 . My lights flickered. I'm sure it was her showing me she was there .

Thank you for sharing.
@stillvicarinatutu that must have been so creepy but comforting at the same time.

The lights thing did start to bother me a bit so I just asked her to stop - and she did .

The message from ds was a massive comfort. I'd been haunted thinking about her last minutes in earth but he told me she looked well and happy .

I have a lot but I’ll tell a few.

When I was a kid I lived next to an old railway line. There were no tracks or anything anymore it was a public path. When I was around 10 walking home from school I got this weird feeling, and it was like the air became totally still, and then I heard a train clear as day. Wouldn’t have thought much more of it but weeks later I was with a friend walking in the same spot. He stopped dead in his tracks and said ‘did you hear that?’. I didn’t, but he had heard a train.

A few years ago my husband had acquired a really old piece of medical equipment which was in a wooden box. As soon as he came in I had a horrible feeling and told him I didn’t want it in the house. He thought I was being daft but took it out to the car anyway. That night the car alarm went off for no apparent reason. Had never happened prior and never happened again. He tried to hand it over to one of his work colleagues after they’d had a laugh about me, but he said ‘nah that things creepy.’

I was staying at my grans new house for the first time. I woke up in the night with a horrible feeling, like the room was closing in on me. I took myself through to the living room and when my gran found me in the morning she asked if I was ok. Told her I couldn’t sleep in that room to which she said ‘me neither.’

I sometimes get a glimpse of someone out of the corner of my eye in our current house. Doesn't feel scary or threatening, just present.

Years ago coming home on a train late in the evening I had an odd experience. I will try to explain what happened.
I was in the carriage nearest the driver. An older style train with central doors that you had to press a circular rubber button to open. Carriages were connected with heavy doors that slammed shut.
The train was all stops from A to B. My station was the last on the line.
I had been sitting in a bank of seats alone, reading, facing toward the drivers cabin.
As we went from station to station, people got up, went to the doors and then got off. All well and good.
As we approached the station before mine, a man who had been sitting in the seats across the central aisle from me got up, passed me and stood by the doors. I noticed this as the train was getting increasingly empty and I was ringing DH to pick me up.
The train stopped. The man pressed the button, doors opened, but he didn't get off. He stayed by the doors as the train pulled away.
I finished my phone call, finished the bit of the book I was reading and packed up my stuff. I got up as the train pulled into my station, pressed the button and got off.
Then I remembered that the man had been standing by the door a few moments earlier.
There was nobody in the carriage when I got off, and the only other people (three women);to get off were at the other end of the train.
I still have no idea.

I lost my husband to cancer 7 years ago. He was a someone who never liked to throw anything away. He had an old electric razor that didn't work and hadn't been charged for years, he'd brought the same model as a replacement and kept the old one in the bathroom cabinet for spare parts! I decided to sort the house out a bit one day and I threw his old razor, along with some other things into a bin bag, left it on the bathroom floor and went downstairs. When I came back upstairs the razor was on buzzing away inside the bag, even though it hadn't worked for years. Another day I decided to clean out the kitchen cupboards. A few hours later I went into the kitchen, turned the light on and all the bulbs blew, very strange.
I also felt a presence in the living room, where he died several times, I would feel like a very light touch on my arm like someone blowing on me gently, I'm convinced it was him telling me he was still there.
We also had a picket fence along the back of our garden. Everyday since the day he died when I went to the kitchen and looked out of the window a little robin would appear on the fence and sit there looking at me!

Not creepy but very odd and interesting..and very true . About twenty years ago I was a mental health nurse working in the south of England , and in our office a colleague was talking about a nurse friend of hers who worked in Manchester who had a patient that did readings and clairvoyance . After some chat and out of curiosity I arranged to phone this woman for a reading if that is what its called .
When I phoned her she asked me to call back a bit later as she was watching Coronation street ( ha! she didnt see that coming ) and so I called again . She was chatty and settled into describing images and suggestions ..was I thinking of selling my flat ? ( there was a for sale sign outside but not mine ) , she was getting military men in the background ( i had photos of my dad and uncle in wartime uniform but they were not full time military) but it was a bit general and meandering and I was not giving any leads .
THEN she said loudly "oooh Gin , I'm getting cats ..do you like cats. .Im getting cats lots of 'em !"
I laughed out loud ..Im allergic to cats BUT I was sitting at my drawing board ( amateur artist then ) with dozens of drawings of cats for a possible book commission . I told her and she became very excited telling me I need to write and draw childrens books . I sent her a cat drawing and twenty quid ..I've yet to get round to the cat book but I am a full time artist now mostly selling paintings of bears of all things..cats next !

Sorry I have absolutely nothing to add but I totally love following these paranormal / spooky threads.

peachgreen · 11/10/2022 23:09

Not creepy but 100% true and I can't explain it. After DH died I wore his wedding ring even though it was a bit loose. I was in the utility room loading laundry in the machine and as I pulled my hand out of it, I felt his ring flick off my finger (at speed) and then heard it bounce – once on the floor, then against the washing machine, then on the floor again. I immediately dropped to my knees to try and find it but to no avail. After about five minutes of hunting I stood up and reached for my phone (which was on top of the washing machine) to use as a torch and then felt, very distinctly, the weight of the ring falling into the pocket of my dress. I have absolutely no explanation as to how it could possibly have got in there, given I felt it coming off AND heard it hit the ground.

peachgreen · 11/10/2022 23:11

@sarahmayo I'm sorry about your husband. My story above is just one of the odd things that happened after he died – there were several. Which makes me laugh because I was previously a huge sceptic about anything like that, only beaten by my husband who thought it was all absolute nonsense!

Kittylickingplate · 11/10/2022 23:23

@Sarahmayo I am sorry for your loss.
I have a few, all from an old house my family lived in when I was 10 years old.

The shower was in the laundry which had a long folding bench along one wall. You would leave your clothes and towel on that bench was showering. One night, I put my clothes on the bench and they slid along the bench and dropped on the floor. They slid about 1 metre, they did not just fall off.
Same house, we had all gone to bed and my Mam started to call out for me to come back and turn the light coffin the kitchen. She insisted I had come out and turned it on. I had not and was still awake in my room so not sleep walking.

The freakiest moment was that I was in a potting shed at the end of the garden with my 5 year old nephew. The shed had no open windows, the door was closed. I felt a strong gust of wind blow through the shed (impossible) and my nephew looked up at me and said 'I thought I just saw an old farmer walk through here but I couldn't have, could I'? I grabbed him and ran to the house.

@peachgreen thank you and sorry for your loss too. I wouldn't class myself as a sceptic before just had never experienced anything to make me believe before this.
I also spoke to a physic, I was sceptical of them, however he knew nothing about me or my life at all and the things he told me were unbelievable and could only have come from my husband as no one else would have known the things he said were messages from him. They were very personal and specific too nothing generalised, he definitely made contact with my husband. He didn't charge me either!

Sarahmayo · 12/10/2022 00:07

@Kittylickingplate thank you

Sarahmayo · 12/10/2022 00:08

@Chuckles94 I never felt scared at all, I always thought this type of thing would scare me but I knew it was him and it was actually comforting

This is the sort of thing I hang onto after my Mother's death in July. They're just there.,.

Chloefairydust · 12/10/2022 00:33

I have a couple of things. The women in my family are quite spooky, my mum always knows if somethings going on with me or my brothers without us telling her. She can also do this thing where you ask her a question about the future, and she closes her eyes, clears her mind and has an answer (always spookily accurate). Her grandmother had the same ‘knowing’.

I can’t do that however I often have dreams about events before they happen and about family members too, so I know what’s going on in their lives sometimes without them telling me. I once warned my brother to go to the doctors as he had a underlying health condition that if it wasn’t treated the inflammation could have led to cancer. In my dream I saw he was gravely I’ll, and saw the name of the organ that had the illness in red letters. He had to go on antibiotics for months and then he was fine, although still needs regular check ups.

Im trying to work on the lottery numbers, but that’s a work in progress ( watch this space lol) 😂🤞🏻

When my uncle died I felt an invisible hand touch my face, and had a few dreams where he was talking to me. I think he was saying goodbye. He told me he was in heaven too in the dream.

I sometimes hear noises at night in my kitchen at night when home alone, sounds like footsteps, tapping on pans, and sometimes can hear a cupboard opening or the bin lid opening. I go in there and nothings moved so that’s strange. It’s a new build house too, so I wouldn’t have thought there would be a ghost here 🤔

Sarahmayo · 12/10/2022 00:35

I also had another experience a few years later, totally unrelated to my husband. I decided to take my children away to a nice holiday cottage in Worcester. My eldest daughter had always had a sense of the paranormal from a young age. When she was 3 I used to wake in the night hearing her talking, I would go to her room and ask her who she was talking too, she always said the lady in the red dress, which was creepy because when I was a teenager there was always a ghost story of a bridge in our town that had a ghost of a lady in a red dress. Our house was right near to that bridge! One night I woke and heard her downstairs. When I went down she had all her toys out of her box and was talking. I asked her what she was doing and she said I'm playing with the old man, very creepy, also in that house our cat would never go upstairs but would stand on the bottom step, looking up and hissing!
Anyway back to the holiday cottage, we arrived on the Saturday, all seemed fine, my eldest daughter had a room on her own and my twins shared. My daughter put her things on the shelves in the room and when she went back up they had been thrown on to the floor. After that nothing else happened all weekend and I remember lying in bed that night and thinking do I feel safe here, I did. On Monday my new partner came to join us at the cottage. Once he arrived things started to get very strange my eldest daughter and I went into town to get some shopping while my partner stayed with the twins watching a film in their room. I called him from the shops to see if he wanted anything specific, he was totally freaked out, he said your still at the shops, I thought you were back, I heard a car pull up on the stones outside, I hear the back door open and close, I heard foot steps coming up the stairs, I was expecting you to walk into the room just as you called me, when he checked no one was there.
The next day we were in our room and we both saw shadows a figure on the wall.
After my partner arrived the atmosphere in the house completely changed from peaceful and calm to creepy and strange. We both felt a presence, I felt strongly it was a male who didn't like another male being there.
The next evening my partner was standing at the back door smoking a cigarette, I was standing in the kitchen talking to him, all of a sudden the kitchen tap turned itself on full blast, we were both terrified and immediately ran upstairs to our room, as we ran we heard a male laughing, it was absolutely terrifying. We got into bed, he cuddled me and I fell asleep straight away, I wanted to sleep because I was so scared I just wanted it to stop. My partner stayed awake most of the night, he was terrified, he said the strange things continued all night, he heard foot steps, he heard laughing, he said there was a strange smell of fresh berries all night in our room. He also said I was talking but he couldn't understand what I was saying but it was not my voice but a male voice.
In the morning we packed our things and left, we couldn't get out of there quick enough. That was the only time I experienced a presence that scared me and I hope it will be the last!
