Bloody hell it's 13 degrees in my sitting room and it's only October...

Dread to think what it's going to be like in January.

Trying to hold out on the heating. I'm layered up, with a scarf, blanket and hot water bottle but my fingers are starting to change colour (I get chilblains / Raynaud's in my hands) so it's clearly not enough already!

Next time I'm buying a house with all the most-used rooms facing south...

Anyone else already struggling a bit?!

Not yet but I'm in the SE so it's still warmish and I live in a newish block of flats which keep the heat in.

StJeanDeVence · 11/10/2022 16:47

I'm in the SE as well - I think it's warmer out than in.

I used to live in a lovely toasty flat - rather miss it now!

It’s been warmer out than in all week where I am (South East). My house is always cool, even in the middle of a heat wave, and gets chilly really fast.

it’s been mostly bearable so far, but I am going to have to put the heating on sooner than I’d wanted as it was properly cold indoors today

Adventadventures · 11/10/2022 17:14

Yeah I feel like I am wearing everything in my wardrobe today! I have 4 layers on and still a bit chilly. I teamed my boss today and all I could think about the whole time was how he could only be wearing a thin sweater . He must have the heating on
Not sure what he thought of me looking like the Michelin man

MissyB1 · 11/10/2022 17:20

I had to go outside to warm up today! Our thermostat said 16 but it felt less than that. I’m on the bed wearing 3 layers and under a blanket.
Although I’m going to a Pilates class soon, that should warm me up.

User84 · 11/10/2022 17:23

It was 17 in my snug earlier. It’s east facing so the sun is all in the morning and leaves quite quickly

midgetastic · 11/10/2022 17:23

If it is warmer outside - open window and doors

Yes, I sometimes feel like Joey in Friends when he's wearing ALL of Chandler's clothes...

Mine is the same. Just make sure I don’t sit down for long

Resp · 11/10/2022 17:26

Had the heating on for around an hour a day for the past week and a bit. Weather is shite but I'm worried as I'm on oil.

hellosunshineagainxxx · 11/10/2022 17:31

13 isn't even cold? Jumper weather outside

MinervaTerrathorn · 11/10/2022 17:34

Recycled cashmere Turtle doves seconds on ebay are only £7.99. They make a huge difference to cold hands and you don't have to take them off like gloves, can just slip your thumbs out and push them up your wrists.

MrsPear · 11/10/2022 17:35

@StJeanDeVence Blimey 13 ! You made me switch on the internal smart meter box - 17 here. I’m London / Kent borders. No heating on yet. The youngest is playing PS4 in shorts and t shirt!

MushMonster · 11/10/2022 17:36

I feel for you. Try to walk a bit, it will get you proper warm.
My home is fine, south facing and south Wales.
I am feeling it at work, it is a ground/ basement level, old building, aur conditioning in all rooms, working all day long as needed for the instruments kept there, and I am turning bluish at some points. Luckily, my work involves quite a bit of moving around. But if you sit for a while on the computer or otherwise, 13C feels really cold.

🙄 Fucking hell. Is it going to be like this all winter. With goady gas-lighting twats telling people they shouldn't be cold when the indoor temperature is 13c?

MarshaBradyo · 11/10/2022 17:39

wow thats a big difference op 19.4 here no heating

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 11/10/2022 17:40

I'm under my electric throw if I sit still for any amount of time, it was expensive £69 from Lakeland, but I really don't need the heating on. It was very cold last night here and looks to be 7degrees tonight.

I think I'm about to be diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis from the pain I'm in, I really can't sit and be cold and the blanket is actually really easing the pain.

bettbburg · 11/10/2022 17:41

It was only 15 outside at lunchtime. I had two duvets last night.

Enjoy your blanket they’re such a blessing with arthritic pain.

NotOnTheSofa · 11/10/2022 17:58

Got up to 20 in here in East Anglia! Our living room is quite small and south facing so maybe that helps

WaddleAway · 11/10/2022 18:01

Wow that’s cold. We’re in the midlands, haven’t needed to put our heating on yet and apparently it’s 19 in my living room. Do you have an old/draughty house?

if you were outside you'd be moving around and/or wearing outdoor clothing, inside you're more sedentary so would feel the cold more 🤦🏽‍♀️ so yeah 13 in the house is cold
not to mention the fact that houses need to be warmer than that for condensation/mould reasons as discussed in many a thread

They have Raynauds. You missed that bit of her post.

OP I have raynauds and live up north. It is beginning to feel cold!

SecretVictoria · 11/10/2022 18:13

Cold here (Gtr Manc). I got a heated wrap from Lidl last year, think that will be putting an appearance in soon.
