What's he said?

paintitallover · 11/10/2022 09:18

See the link. Only 2 minutes and says it better than me.

BarbaraofSeville · 11/10/2022 09:18

Er, read the link?

LadyKenya · 11/10/2022 09:20

As far as I am concerned, all children should get free meals at school.

cooolio · 11/10/2022 09:23

Oh free school meals. No, I don't click random links

FayeGovan · 11/10/2022 09:23

Primary kids in Scotland get free meals i think

FayeGovan · 11/10/2022 09:28

Man's a bloody hero

Why aren't people like him and martin lewis running this country? Why do we have the current absolute c**ts who are shitting over anyone without money??

paintitallover · 11/10/2022 09:29

Yes he made the point it was only England and that other uk countries managed better. He also said that Liz Truss was a ship that would pass in the night, that the government was mean, and he criticised the intention behind the levelling up agenda. In short he trashed the government as heartless.

It's Radio 4's twitter feed, I think it's safeConfused

Just waiting to see how long it will be before someone can somehow turn it around into a JO hate fest, while at the same time not looking like they support the government.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 11/10/2022 09:34

I thought he was going to move abroad if the peasants voted for Brexit. Still here banging on though.

as far as finance is concerned, maybe if he’d paid his bills when his restaurants went bust instead of making sure he got his money out, fewer people would need free school meals.

BarbaraofSeville · 11/10/2022 09:35

And there we have it....

paintitallover · 11/10/2022 09:36

A wider selection of his comments, from the Guardian:

FayeGovan all Primary aged kids in Scotland up to P5 get free school meals just now. I think this is planned to be rolled out to include P6 and P7 pupils soon too, though that's been delayed for some reason.

I think that all kids should get free school meals, including secondary aged kids.

cooolio · 11/10/2022 09:45

"It's Radio 4's twitter feed, I think it's safe"

You obviously haven't heard of the malware cleverly hidden in links disguised to look like Twitter links Confused

BarbaraofSeville · 11/10/2022 09:51

I have, but when the link matches the text shown and you can see that the format matches what you would expect and it's within a thread forum, I think the risk is low.

If I emailed you and said 'click on radio4.spammylink' and I'll give you some money, I'd expect you to not want to do it, but that's not where we are here.

paintitallover · 11/10/2022 09:52

I've given a link to the Guardian and Twitter quoting the Today programme. If you don't want to click it, fine, but please stop distracting this thread.

Yes they do up to primary 3 .

OP put one short line then a link. It didn't match with anything. Anyway, you keep clicking links willy nilly and I'll avoid. I didn't say the risk is high, I said I don't click random links. Not sure why you've such a problem with that Confused

smileandsing · 11/10/2022 10:07

Mrsjayy it's up to P5 currently in Scotland

Bingo @BarbaraofSeville

Jamie was brilliant this morning. He has his faults and seems to be not good at running restaurant businesses, but at least he tries to do good things. His recipes are good too.

GoldenOlden · 11/10/2022 10:14

He was really superb on the radio this morning- extremely clear in what he was saying and obviously knowledgeable. I knew how shockingly low the threshold for FSM was because I read it on here the other day but I bet most people listening didn't.

00100001 · 11/10/2022 10:18

Just wait JM will be all over it claiming it's her niche and only her niche and she should be spearheading this and how dare he try and take this away form her when she works 100hrs a week blah blah blah

NewYorkLassie · 11/10/2022 10:21

I think that all kids should get free school meals, including secondary aged kids.

Why? I would much rather any spare funds (lolz at that thought) went towards more affordable childcare so that more people could work than towards feeding lots of kids who’s parents can afford to feed them.

Georgeskitchen · 11/10/2022 10:25

Does anyone remember Jamie's healthy school meals campaign a few years back? There was outrage and there were school parents throwing burgers and chips over the fence at lunch time.
Yes it's true
I'm all for helping poorer families but pretty sure the beleaguered tax payer shouldn't be burdened with paying for everybody's school meals, regardless of income
