Hi, I have a lump on the front of my neck its growing bigger (seen doctor/ had TSH-normal/ENT & ultrasound booked). I really do not want to google because I have HA. Everyone I know, don't have Thyroid problems and have no advice. I am obviously thinking the worst now.

I did the antibody test it came out negative thats usually a good sign jodie ,

a year prior to my diagnosis I did the antibodies tests and my Dr was concerned by the antibodies found which means something is wrong. Didn’t do any further tests till a year later when I felt a lump on the side of my neck near the collar bones, turned out to be completely clear, no shadowing, But it was during that ultrasound appointment that they found the tiny malignant nodule, a biopsy was performed on the spot and I was booked within a week after I got the results.

thyroid nodules are quite common, I know few who have them, but just myself that needed it removed . .

try Not to worry .

That was so lucky that was found, Thank god you are okay now and that it is checked every year. I really can not wait to get these scans and biopsies out the way. Not knowing and the waiting is what is getting me the most. Even looking into private it is a 2 week wait and £400 just for a thyroid scan here 🙄

Sorry to keep asking questions did anyones lump grew so big that you could feel pulling or tiny pressure on neck and ears? Might be my health anxiety, I had physical symptoms years ago but it was the anxiety so I know it can be that playing up. I have back ache and both my sides ache, but I have been sleeping on sofa for two weeks because partners loud snoring is waking me up.

I personally did not have this but it sounds possible. However also your anxiety could make you feel more aware of sensations etc so could be that.

Let us know how your appointment goes 💐 I've been thinking of you as I was where you are now at the beginning of my journey. And it is scary x

I think it is the anxiety, because when I don’t think about it there is nothing. When I am anxious I have a lump in my throat too.

thank you for your advice and kind words. It’s quite lonely as no one I know have been through this. I’m sorry you have been through this too. I will come back on tomorrow night- hopefully will know something by then. X

About 10 years ago I had a golf ball shaped lump come up on the front of my neck, right where my thyroid is. I was absolutely terrified it was something awful.

The scan showed it was a thyroglossal duct cyst (which wasn't something that had come up when I'd been madly googling!). All harmless, and was surgically removed as it looked horrible (to me).

I do have thyroid problems now, but I don't think they are linked in any way. The thyroglossal duct cyst occurs when something doesn't form quite right in the womb (can't remember all the ins and outs as haven't looked it up since the op!).

Anyway, just something else to consider.

Hi ilovefluffysheep, that’s really interesting! I did have some problems around 4 years ago. Nothing came of it, I had scans on womb/overuse etc… possibly connected.

Hi everyone, had an ultrasound I have a big clear fluid cyst & a tiny one growing. She was absolutely lovely and sat with the screen telling me everything she could see and explained to me about cysts and nodules. Not sure if I will need a biopsy but I’m assuming next step would be removing it because I can’t breath 🙈 thank you everyone for your advice and kind words x

That's brilliant news ! I'm so glad you were able to have your mind out at ease

So are they definitely going to remove it? If it is affecting your breathing sounds like they need to

So glad you have found out what the problem is, at least you know now it's nothing too serious. Is the cyst attached to your thyroid? If you do have an operation to remove it, try not to worry too much about it, it would only be an overnight stay at the most, keep us posted x

Thank you, I was terrified because I didn’t know what was growing. I am worried that they might say watch and wait?. But it’s big so hopefully not. X

So pleased you got some answers, OP. I hope you don't have to wait too long for an operation. Don't be nervous; it should be straightforward. Good luck!

I have also a lump on the front of my neck. Was sent for an ultrasound. The man who did it was very fast and seemed irritable. He just said it looked like normal tissue and bodies change as we get older. That was 6 months ago, and I feel the lump may be spreading. Sorry to derail, but should I be insisting my GP refer me for a biopsy?

I’ve been back a few times about mine. Did have it re-scanned, person who did the scan said it’s leaning against my windpipe, pushing that sideways. When I later asked GP about this she got very cross and asked me why I’d “demanded it was scanned again” I had asked because it pushing on my windpipe! That’s not normal.
They don’t care.
GPs only test TSH when they need to test T4, T3 and I think it’s called reverse T3.

Hi Cantthinkofanameatm,

I am quite shocked, you should be scanned every year?. If it is leaning on your windpipe you need it removed?. Can you go to a different doctor?.

I ended up paying private for T4/T3 & antibodies my T4 was abnormal so I agree they need to change this & add the extra blood tests.

I know how you feel, I have to sleep on the sofa because it now too uncomfortable to lay in bed.

I hope you get it sorted, is it a goitre or cyst?

What’s HA? Is it thyroid related?
