Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day. The washer's on already with the first of 2 loads & I'll pop that on the line when it finishes.

I need to pop to town today for some things for my Rainbows and Guides on Tuesday. It's sunny out so we'll probably walk - I say we; dd1 will definitely come, dd2 might stay here. I promised a trip to Starbucks for pumpkin spice lattes too so we'll probably do that since we have plans the next 2 weekends.

Later on I have 4 tops to finish altering for my friend. They're all pinned & just need stitching so not too long of a job. And I need to attach ears and horns to the 3 Billy Goats Gruff and troll story spoons for work.

I think we'll have chicken for tea, in tomato sauce with pasta on the side and some sort of veggies.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning OP :)

So far today, I have cleaned the kitchen, given the children breakfast and got us all dressed while DH gets ready for work.
We are setting off soon to visit my parents, they have been on holiday and the kids havent seen them for 3 weeks

Later will probably go to the shops, I have some birthday money to spend but I don’t know what on.

tea is chilli & jacket potatoes, before a night in front of the telly, need to find something to watch now the boxing has been called off!

Rowgtfc72 · 08/10/2022 09:30

Cuppa in peace as dh is at work and teenager still in bed.
Blitzing the house
Sorting the washing

Oh and puppy proofing the house as we pick our sausage dog puppy up this afternoon !🙂

TeddyTed · 08/10/2022 09:34

I’ve got a landscaper coming to give us a quote for some garden work later, ahead of hopefully getting a dog (garden currently isn’t secure enough). Then out for a long bike ride at the trail centre near us. Strictly tonight and hopefully my favourite Chinese takeaway for dinner.

WhatWouldHopperDo · 08/10/2022 09:35

It’s already been eventful. Called to MILs care home at 5am as she was agitated and distressed (she’s on eol care). Stayed with her until 8.00. She is much more settled.

Drove DS 40 minutes to work because of the train strike, he forgot his work shoes so had to do a dash to Sainsburys by his work and he went in and thankfully found some appropriate shoes.

Now sitting in MacDs car park having a coffee before I drive home for a while then back to MIL.

TeddyTed · 08/10/2022 09:35

Good luck with your puppy @Rowgtfc72!

OldTinHat · 08/10/2022 09:40

@Rowgtfc72 how lovely about the puppy! Puppy tax later please, when you're all settled in - you know the rules!

I'm still in bed nursing a small hangover after a very late night at the theatre. I've no idea what to do today. I may join some friends for a walk along the beach but I definitely have to get some food shopping done.

erikbloodaxe · 08/10/2022 09:41

I've just eaten lasagne for breakfast. I need to sort out my sewing room, do laundry and go food shopping.

ShadowPuppets · 08/10/2022 09:45

@WhatWouldHopperDo I’m sorry, that sounds horribly stressful.

I’m currently on the sofa with 5mo DS who is contact napping (I know I’ll miss them when he starts sleeping in a cot but god I can’t wait to have my arms back!) DH and 2yo DD are currently packing down cardboard boxes to take to the tip after a load of DIYing last weekend. This afternoon we’re meeting DH’s friend for a coffee as he’s doing a long cycle ride out of London and passing by quite close to us. This evening is bolognaise I batch cooked yesterday and tomorrow I need to sort out a load of baby clothes to pass on to a friend as we’re very much done with DD and DS!

warofthemonstertrucks · 08/10/2022 09:52

Envious of your washing machine OP-ours broke on Thursday and flooded the kitchen. And this morning we have no hot water so waiting in in my pyjamas for the landlord to pop around and have a look at it.
Having a little clean around whilst I wait. Trying to steal myself to try on some dresses for an event we have coming up but I feel fat and I think it will put me in a bad mood so might leave it.
Will walk dogs after landlord has been and then drop dd 1 off at work later. I'm going to see a friend for a coffee (and to hear all about her new boyfriend) , then back home where DP will hopefully make something nice for dinner .

grayhairdontcare · 08/10/2022 09:53

Going to see Swan Lake this afternoon and then eating at Mowgli after

Decafflatteplease · 08/10/2022 10:08

Morning @lucysmam and all

Beautiful sunny day here.

I woke early and had my tea and toast in the quiet before the rest of the house woke up.

Uniform on the line, about to get another load on the airers outside.

Having brunch in a bit then I think I'm taking our older ones to the skate park followed by a Costa and browse round Waterstones I think.

Simply cook chicken makhani for dinner it's a lovely recipe.

Wine TV and snacks when dc asleep later and I've got some sewing that needs doing but I find it relaxing

This sounds lovely @grayhairdontcare I've never tried Mowgli but have heard it wonderful!

I've walked the dogs (lush day here in Gloucestershire); done 2 loads of washing that are out on the line, I've put the dishwasher on and I've hoovered my car out.

Rare day of peace for me - I'm looking after my terminally ill Dad tomorrow so I'm unwinding and watching Married at 1st Sight US. It's been unexpectedly quiet with him this week - he is on some new medication that appears to be minimising some of his (horrible) liver cancer symptoms - so all is quietly "OK". It's like living on a knife edge though as I know it can change in a heartbeat.

Twigletgirl27 · 08/10/2022 12:50

I'm currently lying on a sunbed in Gran Canaria listening to chilled music by the pool. Oh and drinking an ice cold beer....someone's got to do it!! 😘😉

Oldraver · 08/10/2022 13:21

On our way to see Sarah Millican along the M25

It may take a while 😂

Simonjt · 08/10/2022 16:58

Well, no longer morning!

I hope everyones had/having a good saturday.

We’ve been pumpkin picking today, it was warmer than we had expected so we looked like pack horses carrying our coats. Then its been a day of carving and getting the horrid goo from the centre. Lots of fun, we thought it might be busy, but it was really quiet so that made it much nicer.

No other plans, a lazy day here, I’ve been having foot pain since rugby on Saturday, then the top swelled up quite badly on Sunday night/monday morning. Turns out I had broken two metatarsals, so I’m in a boot of doom.

@Twigletgirl27 thank you for taking one for the team!!!

limitededitionbarbie · 08/10/2022 17:06

I've took my Dd for her first covid jab. Made a new bed for my dogs and I'm watching sliding doors waiting for my DH to come home.

He's took our granddaughter shopping for some new trainers and the park and we are looking after her tonight.

My DD is at her friends birthday party a few doors down and when she gets back I think we are having pizza, hot chocolate and watching the masked dancer. I used to love these types of nights when I was little with my mum and dad.

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 08/10/2022 17:18

@Simonjt sorry to hear about your foot! Hope you're not in the boot of doom for too long & that it mends nicely!!

@limitededitionbarbie that all sounds lovely!!

I put my washing machine on timer so it would finish at 6:30 so I could hang out the washing before I went out. It was a tad chilly pegging it out.

then onto covid jab, I was there a little early but only a handful of us there, so they were just sending us in. Flu left arm, covid right and despite seeing a friend and chatting, I was home before my actual appointment time 😂. I was very happy to get Pfizer rather than Moderna. So hoping I don't get any worse side effects later (just feeling a little bit nauseous and a bit floaty).

I've enjoyed it being a nice day, but haven't got much done!

nice to hear about everyone day hugs for those with unwell parents/inlaws

@Rowgtfc72 photos please!!

Rowgtfc72 · 08/10/2022 17:26

Slept the whole way home!
This is Diesel, he's a chocolate dapple dachsund and 7 weeks old.

Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?
RagzRebooted · 08/10/2022 17:31

Worked this morning (flu clinic) then took 2 of the 3 DCs (DS16 has work this evening so didn't want to come) into town for a co-op meal deal and a trawl round the charity shops. This was their request!

Tried to fit new bathroom sink taps (broken) but bought the wrong size so have reordered.

Eggsley · 08/10/2022 18:28

Ohhh @Rowgtfc72 he is beautiful!! Enjoy the chaos Grin

We had football training this morning, then went over to get our dog his food for the week, then went to Ikea (it was so busy). Now home, DS2 is pestering me to play chess. I can't decide what to make for dinner as we all had Ikea meatballs at lunchtime. After dinner and once the DC are in bed, I will be having wine and watching something on Netflix with DH.

Simonjt · 08/10/2022 19:02

Oh he is lovely, I am extremely jealous of the cute little guy

EllaPaella · 08/10/2022 19:10

I love these threads. I'm so nosey and love to hear what everyone is up to 😁
I got up earlier than I would have liked but it was a glorious sunny morning and I walked my dog on the beach with ds who is 11. We went for coffee and cake afterwards. Did a food shop then took ds into the city centre to mooch around the shops. He got a pair of tracksuit bottoms from JD sports and a bubble tea.
Popped into a friends for a cuppa and now back home and we just had a takeaway curry and opened a bottle of shiraz.
Settling down to watch a film with DH and DC now.

1FootInTheRave · 08/10/2022 19:53

Footy this morn, food shopping and then dossing on the couch for much of the day.

Just had a steak for tea and now watching crocodile dundee and enjoying a glass of shiraz. All kids are out so it's just me and dh clearly living it up!
