A better cheaper alternative to Centre Parcs

Myleakycauldron · 07/10/2022 20:42

We went to Centre Parcs off season / out of term time and it was say it was fine (it didn't cost more than an air B and B although obviously we spent quite a bit whilst there).

My DC would love to go back but now they are at school it is (I reluctantly checked) three times more expensive and absolutely not worth it just for the pool - which is the bit my DC loved. And we were not enamoured with the rest of it tbh.

Where else is a good pool with slides / holiday vibes?

Haven?

wild duck Norfolk is about as close to CP as you can get without it being CP!

littlemousebigcheese · 07/10/2022 20:48

Bluestone!! So much better than CP, lots more to do and more included in the cost (serendome , the hive, etc)

Butlins. Fantastic pool.

emmathedilemma · 07/10/2022 20:54

Forest holidays are nice cabins but don’t have pools or much in the way of organised activities.
you could probably go abroad somewhere warm and sunny with a water park for the price of CP in school holidays.

Mum2jenny · 07/10/2022 20:54

Forest holidays do not always have a pool on site. Was at one recently and the on-site facilities were very poor although all accommodation had a hot-tub

JacquelineCarlyle · 07/10/2022 20:56

Center Parcs in The Netherlands is meant to be fantastic- same company but a fraction of the price!

Riverlee · 07/10/2022 21:03

Potters

Never been, but Potters may suit you.

Forest holidays are good, but don’t have the pool complex.

Bluestone get mentioned a lot.

Haver you considered the Center Parcs abroad. They’re cheaper than the UK ones. There’s also other similar parks (Landal).

Theraffarian · 07/10/2022 21:10

We found centre parks in the Netherlands a lot cheaper including travel over , Zelande one is a fab location , beautiful beach across the road from it too. Mind you been a while since we went , so do check trip advisor etc to make sure it’s still good!

OrDis · 07/10/2022 21:15

I’ve only been to bluestone in Pembrokeshire and it was great, although I suspect in the school holidays it’s probably a similar price to CP

Trees6 · 07/10/2022 21:17

Bluestone definitely.

LoveBluey · 07/10/2022 21:19

Have had Bluestone recommended to me but not been

For the pool, Butlins at Bognor is amazing.

Been to Potters 5 times. It's amazing, definitely recommend.

Bluestone has a nice pool and you can book to use it even if staying elsewhere.

Blackpool has a good swimming pool. If you save tesco clubcard points you can use them to book a trip up the tower.

Alton towers water park.

Also a good swimming pool in Stoke.

Center Parcs Europe is a different company than UK.
Try a May half term in one of the Dutch ones. Definitely cheaper. Not a school holiday in The Netherlands.

MMAMPWGHAP · 07/10/2022 21:24

Also Duinrell. Fantastic slides there.

EweCee · 07/10/2022 21:24

Center Parcs Netherlands is great and a fraction of the price of a UK one. We go to De Kempervennen in the south just over the Belgian border. Easy to get to and lovely!

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 07/10/2022 21:24

Ribby Hall resort is lovely, we’ve been every year for about 5 years

confusedlots · 07/10/2022 21:24

Bluestone was great, but I think probably not much cheaper than CP. And I was a bit disappointed with the pool compared to CP

notdaddycool · 07/10/2022 21:25

Has anyone mentioned Bluestone? It was wonderful.

Handsoffmyrights · 07/10/2022 21:26

Butlins. We've done them all and Butlins is the best and cheapest!

pimlicoanna · 07/10/2022 21:27

Bluestone is similar pricing to Center parcels so not a cheaper alternative for the summer holidays. Unless the pricing has changed. We did like it though! And it's nice to be nearer to the seaside than Center parcs.

Also, Dutch schools go back earlier than ours, so Aug Bank hol onwards is a good time to go.

Ribby Hall Village, love it here. Great for couples (beautiful spa), lots for children, lovely restaurants/cafes etc. Nice walks. Lovely place!
