Bluey might be my new incredibly guilty pleasure.

I've literally(as in today) just decided to watch an episode of Bluey(Baby Race) which was so incredibly touching and now I get the hype, i then watched Ice Cream. The most shameful part is that I don't even have kids but I used to work in childcare and I don't think I've ever seen a show that captures so perfectly how young children behave and think or parenting(from what little I know of it) I need to offer babysit so I have an excuse to watch another episode or two.

I'm off to hang my head in shame.

Shuffle up on the couch of shame and pass the popcorn. I have just watched 3 episodes having read another mumsnet thread singing its praises.... Escape is brilliant!

FizzyFucker · 07/10/2022 20:50

It's so good, I love how much Bluey is like my own family, it makes me feel like we aren't totally fucking it up.

Beees · 07/10/2022 20:53

No need to hang your head in shame it's the best kids programme that I've ever watched and I've watched a lot of childrens TV (eyfs teacher who needs to keep up with what's in).

I'm also so glad I have a little one of my own who is the perfect age to enjoy the show. You're more than welcome to borrow him any time he thinks Bluey is wackadoo.

It's absolutely brilliant. Me and DS watched 5 episodes this evening and we both get so much from it!

We love Hammerbarn - the 'someone's husband gets it' line has me crying laughing every time.

Twizbe · 07/10/2022 20:56

No shame. Get comfy and binge. It's a great programme

WallabyWay · 07/10/2022 21:14

I'm glad that I'm not alone in this. I feel better now. Peppa Pig had a lot of great moments for adults but this is even better.(I had to sit through a lot of PP in my nannying days)

It's genius how they've made a show for kids that's equally entertaining for parents(and non parents). So many kids shows are like having your teeth pulled to a soundtrack of nails on a blackboard but this manages to be funny, touching and not something you dread your kids putting on but actively enjoy.

My new favourite episode is in season 3 (available on disney plus) with pass the parcel and "lucky's dad rules" and the new rules where everyone wins! I sit crying with laughter at that one.

bizzey · 07/10/2022 21:19

I have heard so much about Bluey ...
How do I watch it and which episode shall I watch first 🤔😅😅!

Oysterbabe · 07/10/2022 21:19

No shame required. Bluey is incredible and I'll happily watch it when the kids are out.

mynameischloe · 07/10/2022 21:21

It's my absolute favourite as well. I love the music and colours as well. And I love their house.

I know Grin

Oysterbabe · 07/10/2022 21:21

My kids favourite episode is Escape and they spent ages after drawing their own dreamhouse cars. It really sparks their imaginations and they've copied lots of the games.

EdithGrantham · 07/10/2022 21:22

Placemarking to watch these episodes later. Baby Race was the first one I watched and as a FTM to a then 11mo it made me laugh a lot. I keep putting it on for DD who is now 14mo but she's still not overly interested so I end up just watching it myself

Blocked · 07/10/2022 21:23

Bluey is great. I like the one where they go for a Chinese takeaway and Bandit insists on getting his spring rolls.

I also love the names they come up with for their games. Telemachus Grin

Baby Race is great. That episode available on YouTube. There are episodes on Iplayer too. I've only watched 2 so far but hopefully others will have some more suggestions. Escape has also been suggested.

Love it too, it's even my ringtone as my daughter gets so happy when she hears it!

1dayatatime · 07/10/2022 21:25

I absolutely like be Bluey, brilliant story lines and the dad is the best character- not a guilty pleasure as I have no guilt at all in admitting I enjoy it.

Wednesdaywobbles · 07/10/2022 21:26

''Poor little bug on the wall, ding jing/ding''

''No one to love him at all, ding jing/ding''

''No one to tickle his toes, ding jing/ding"

''No one to blow his nose, pffffffft!"

if you know you know - total ear worm

absolutely love Bluey ❤️

LaPufalina · 07/10/2022 21:26

Oh gosh I love it too. The swim school one had me helpless.

We saw a caterpillar on the wall the other day and my 2 year old started singing this and I genuinely teared up at how wholesome and lovely the whole thing was.

SBAM · 07/10/2022 21:33

I love Bluey too. My 5 year old would watch it all day if I’d let her (she was trying to bargain losing her bedtime story for just one more episode this evening).

The chess episode, called ‘Chest’ I think is 🥲 sweetly tear inducing for me.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 07/10/2022 21:33

Bluey is absolute perfection chef’s kiss

It’s so brilliantly written and perfectly captures life from a child’s perspective and also from a parent’s perspective.

Pass the parcel was genius. Capturing exactly what the other parents would be like if there were no little presents in each layer. “This isn’t the 80’s, Pat!”

Yogibearspicnic · 07/10/2022 21:34

Mum School 😭

Beees · 07/10/2022 21:37

Also other notable episodes are:

Take Away
Explorers
Octopus
Flat Pack
Hammerbarn
Tiny Baby
Army
Camping

I'm loathed to say these are the best beause every episode is fabulous in its own way.

needthiswilderness · 07/10/2022 21:37

Rug island and sleepytime are truly beautiful pieces of art about childhood, parenting, love… all of it is wonderful but those two just popped into my head. I really think Bluey is sublime and shame is about the furthest emotion you should feel while watching it!

Littlepixie85 · 07/10/2022 21:39

Just watched Fairy Tale tonight with my two kids, perfect 80s nostalgic complete with Bingo ending up explaining things away as 'its the 80s!'. My kids always know how to wangle a bit of extra TV time by asking for Bluey for Mummy 😁
