Bluey might be my new incredibly guilty pleasure.

I've literally(as in today) just decided to watch an episode of Bluey(Baby Race) which was so incredibly touching and now I get the hype, i then watched Ice Cream. The most shameful part is that I don't even have kids but I used to work in childcare and I don't think I've ever seen a show that captures so perfectly how young children behave and think or parenting(from what little I know of it) I need to offer babysit so I have an excuse to watch another episode or two.

I'm off to hang my head in shame.

Sleepytime! Always choke up at the end.

Rug Island is genius. Faceytime is brilliant. The pass the parcel episode with "Lucky's dad's rules" is so watchable.

The first episode I ever saw was Shadowlands, and I adored the dreamlike quality.

I’m not getting it …

It is a sweet little programme but that’s it, I’m not feeling the Bluey love (sorry.)

Misstabithabean · 07/10/2022 21:41

I love the camping episode where Bluey meets Jean-Luc and they become friends even with a language barrier. She's heartbroken when he leaves but when they meet again as teens it's magic! 😍

My 4 year old loved an episode called Bingo which we saw the other day. He thought it was great that Bingo won musical statues at the beginning!

No one is saying you have to love it, it's fine to all like different things. All we're saying is that Wallaby shouldn't feel shame for enjoying something which is written so well to depict the everyday lovely happy and sad bits of life with children.

It's OK to like it even if you've no children at all.

Most kid’s tv shows are either funny or whimsical or just absolute nonsense of some description. Some can be fun to watch but nonsense nonetheless. The ones that try to relate a little to parents usually come across as sanctimonious.

Blue is just so relatable in a lovely, funny, gentle kind of way. The parents aren’t perfect but obviously really love their kids and try hard with them. The kids are a little bit annoying but also funny and sweet and kind. It really feels like it’s been written by very talented parents who want to have other parents relate to all the lovely, but also sometimes hard moments about being a parent.

StClare101 · 07/10/2022 21:52

I don’t know the episode names but I love the ones with the takeaway, when Dad takes the kids to the pool, when Dad takes the kids to the park in the buggy, building the flat pack…..

I was sad when my kids grew out of it. They would do the dance every time, too.

Oh and as a Queenslander I love how Brisbane is depicted.

bizzey · 07/10/2022 22:10

I know how to rock and roll on a Friday evening!!
I have just watched some episodes.
The sleep bedtime one had me laughing out loud !

My DC's are adults now .but I can still remember opening my eyes to see a DC just standing staring at me by the bed !!

Babymamma192 · 07/10/2022 22:10

I love bluey....think I enjoy it more than my kids do 🤣 my sister and I actually talk for ages about all the funny things in the episodes 😂

Hammerbarn, rug island and the one where bluey and bingo are little old ladies on the bus are all great episodes.

And also the one where their cousin stays over and they want to play but the cousin is really tired can't remember the name of it but they say " calm down Sheila" just makes me laugh everytime! Love it.

lickenchugget · 07/10/2022 22:15

Omelette made me cry

StClare101 · 07/10/2022 22:27

Oh I love the one where the cousin has dropped her nap and is really tired.

WolverineBlueyy · 07/10/2022 22:39

Nothing has ever made DCs laugh as much as Unicorse. "I might get a little pokey!"

echt · 07/10/2022 23:13

Bluey is such excellent TV. I'm off the Hammerbarn in a minute as it happens. Grin

A lovely detail is the way the cartoonist gets the way a cattle dog (the family's breed) holds its tail in exactly the right way.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 07/10/2022 23:18

I love that chilli works at the airport (sniffer dog?) and bandit is an archeologist (digging up bones)

Shadowlands and the one where bingo is sick are my faves

mrsm12 · 07/10/2022 23:29

10 years of kids cartoons and bluey is my favorite by far, my kids all watch it (10yrs -3yrs), the thank you for cleaning my toilet joke is done most days and my 3 year old singing 'la dee dee I'm in the shower' has replaced him screaming the entire time so I'm a massive fan!

Saisong · 07/10/2022 23:34

My 15yo DD has Bluey on series link and watches an episode or two every day after school, she's not in the slightest bit embarrassed!

Figmentofimagination · 08/10/2022 00:01

@bizzey all of season 1 and 2 and half of season 3 are on Disney+. If you want a good cry watch camping or baby race. If you want a laugh watch faceytalk.

We've watched Bluey so many times, it's DS's go to when he's sick or can't think of what to watch or just to fill 10 mins. When the first 25 episodes of season 3 came out DH and I watched it all when DS was in bed before DS did. 😂

I will say to everyone though, if you hate Sean, do not watch Unicourse. He's even more annoying. DH and DS won't stop repeating "aaaannnnddd why should I care?"

HobnobsChoice · 08/10/2022 00:13

Sticky Gecko is probably the most accurate depiction of trying to leave the house with kids I've ever seen. Or at least how it is with my kids. Child unable to find hat right next to them. Other child asked to clean teeth and returns having not done it and doing something else entirely.

The 80s episode and the pass the parcel episodes are also very popular with kids and parents alike.

Heathen!!!

Be careful that you aren't burnt at the stake for such blasphemy...

PinkButtercups · 08/10/2022 13:06

We love Bluey! We love how realistic it is.

I remember when it first aired over here and there were way more episodes on Disney+ and a poster said she sat there and watched every single episode whilst her children are in bed. Adults love it too.

If you want to watch it, watch it! Have fun Smile.

Oysterbabe · 08/10/2022 17:12

I really cried at Baby race. DD was a bum shuffler and a very late walker. It caused me so much angst. Bluey captures that period so beautifully.

@Oysterbabe, my DS was the same and I really related to Chilli in that episode. The constant worry and comparisons to others. I've seen that episode a few times now and I still cry every time I watch it. DS always gets an extra big hug after that episode.

PinkPrettyAndPointed · 09/10/2022 02:41

It's day time here in Aus, and I'm reading this thread with Bluey on tv. We love it in this house.

It really represents us too. I have 2 DD and dh is Bandit. Wish I was more like Chilli 😆

LadyCassandra · 09/10/2022 02:58

I love it so much! I have kids that are 13, 10 and 4 and they will always watch it together.
my 70 year old friend watched an episode every day during lockdown, she said it kept her going!

Quaggainexcelsius · 09/10/2022 06:21

The flat pack episode is actual genius

Toddlerteaplease · 09/10/2022 06:44

I love Hey Dugee.
