Nurses, how will you vote?

The RCN are balloting members over strike action. They are looking for a 5% increase in pay over and above inflation.

Will you ballot to strike?

(DOI: I'm a medic and I would be 100% behind you)

I won’t be voting for a strike. I don’t agree with them & never have. Would it be nice to have better wages . . . Yes but is nursing very badly paid, I actually don’t think so. Starting wage of 27k with annual increments. A 37.5 hour week, with time and a third paid for evenings and Saturdays and time and two thirds paid for Sundays I’m just not on board with it.

The NHS is already crippled, a strike will just add to that. Our patients will suffer.

minority opinion I know but that’s how I feel

Voting strike. The working conditions and current staffing levels are rapidly deteriorating and unsafe. Hospitals are setting up food banks this winter for staff. The situation has to change. The NHS is the UK's largest employer- the power is in our hands. Glad to see so many are following suit.

Not a nurse. Did start training to be one 20 years ago but soon left. Now an HCP. I would support you striking. It will cost lives but the current system is untenable.

And midwives too!
sick of bad staffing. Bad care. Bad pay! It’s not fair on patients or staff!

100% will be voting to strike. I hope a deal can be made before it comes to actually striking but enough is enough.

frankie001 · 06/10/2022 23:47

I’m voting to strike.

TiddyTidTwo · 07/10/2022 00:05

Not a nurse but 10000000000% behind you!!

coffeeandbiscuittime · 07/10/2022 06:36

I will be voting to strike.for myself, my colleagues, our patients and future of the NHS.

UseOfWeapons · 07/10/2022 07:10

Yes, I’m voting to strike, was emailed yesterday to say that my ballot paper is on the way (RCN).

Not a nurse (but two family members are) but 100% support a strike.

it is not just about pay, as a PP alluded to, but about conditions.

I would happily pay more tax (and make cutbacks in other areas, am only a primary school SEN TA so not flush by any stretch of the imagination ) to have a healthcare system that functions, instead of the underfunded, understaffed, badly managed and broken one we have currently.

If a civilized society does not have good healthcare, it has nothing.
