Gross pic I'm sorry, but wtf has happened to my teeth?

Last had a check up 10 months ago and wasn't told there were any issues. I'm 7 months pregnant if it's relevant as I know teeth can go bad during pregnancy but what the fuck.. I've had toothache so I took a photo to see. I thought oh my god there dirty there's bits in them.. nope I've brushed them multiple times they are still the same. What? I'm panicking I'm going to have to have all my teeth taken out. What's happened?

I don't even have a dentist anymore as I've moved away and there's no NHS one I can get in here. I can't afford this much work privately. Omg they are destroyed Sad

I think it’s discoloured plaque from coffee/tea etc… I was horrified to see aubergine similar a few years ago. Been having regular dental hygienist appt (every 6 mo), flossing every night and using an electric toothbrush and all back to normal!

MotherCrab · 05/10/2022 19:33

Maybe you just need a hygienist appointment.

Buy a waterpik - the amount of stuff that comes out even after a good brush is amazing!

kitcat15 · 05/10/2022 19:34

Your teeth can go to fuck during pregnancy…then never recover….use interdental brushes and go private for a check up and scale and polish

omgwhatthefuck · 05/10/2022 19:35

The canine (where the toothache is) has two gaping holes in it. The others don't look far behind. I saw a hygienist before my wedding in July. I want to cry Sad

Oh my god I can't even join denplan to sort it if there's any work currently needed so I'm going to have to fork out for the lot 😭

The brown bits are just staining, it might have been there for years. You've got some fillings and the canine looks like it's got a filling with some decay around it. Has it been root filled?

How far have you moved? You can go back to your old NHS dentist still

legalseagull · 05/10/2022 19:43

If you're pregnant any work will be free on the NHS op

Not if you have to go private? Sad

I moved in 2021 but I've not seen my nhs dentist since pre covid.. I've tried a few times but they don't answer the phone or emails on the few occasions I've tried. I gave up and went private locally twice. So think my nhs dentist will be long gone

Not if you haven’t got an nhs dentist….and it’s impossible these days to get one

This isn’t true, a lot of work won’t be covered!

They will assess your teeth' s condition and put you in the relevant band. Afaik it does not prevent existing work going ahead.

Treeclimber2 · 05/10/2022 20:04

The one with the holes in looks like a dead tooth? Have you had a root canal done?

BeenHereForYonkyDoodles · 05/10/2022 20:05

I'm sorry OP that must be very stressful. I'm currently without a dentist too.
I would say that I was so worried about DS as his teeth were becoming awfully discoloured during lockdown. A visit to the dentist was remarkable once appointments started up again and the staining was cleaned away.
I'd book for a check up with a private dentist. Here it would cost about £90. So you know what you're dealing with. They may be able to prescribe something to stop it getting worse.

QuitWhileAhead · 05/10/2022 20:05

Waterpiks are brilliant

omgwhatthefuck · 05/10/2022 20:05

Yes root canal 10 years ago on it. It's been dead years so I don't know how I've got toothache in it Sad

Looks like staining and acid erosion to me. I would definitely want x rays of those white fillings at some point but nothing there looks dire tbh.

I'm impressed how you got the phone in your mouth with clear pictures I've just attempted 3 times with my iPhone with no luck 😂

Me too! 😂 mine end up all blurry. Glad I’m not the only one who attempted it after reading this thread.

FTM2022SS · 05/10/2022 20:11

If you have tooth pain you might be able to get an emergency appointment? They could give you some insight about what needs doing? Call an out of hours and see if they can help!

ijustcouldntthinkofausername · 05/10/2022 20:12

However I did discover I have hairy nostrils 🫢
😧

Poppins2016 · 05/10/2022 20:14

Have you used corsodyl mouthwash recently? If you use it too close to drinking tea and coffee, that kind of staining can occur.

omgwhatthefuck · 05/10/2022 20:18

What happens with the holes in a tooth that's already had a root canal? Will the tooth have to come out?
