I used to love Boden but……I received another mailing through the post just now.
flicked through it and had to laugh at the last page where the model looks like she’s been rummaging through the dressing up box at playgroup.
The latest Boden fashions are just not suiting me at all. Time to unsubscribe sadly

Anyone else feel the same ?

You know Boden makes petites, right? www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/womens-petite-range

SirChenjins · 05/10/2022 14:50

Yes, me! Their new catalogues are spectacularly awful - they seem to have lost sight of their core demographic (middle aged, middle sized etc) and whilst their prints were always marmite they just look like the sale bins at Zara now.

RestIsHistory · 06/10/2022 19:47

I’ve just flicked through the new catalogue, gosh they’ve really lost the plot! So many contenders for worst garment but I think the mushroom jumper takes it (my eyes, my eyes I can’t unsee it!)

Their stuff doesn't fit me at all!

pompomdaisy · 08/10/2022 18:15

I've just bought a nice 70 s inspired print dress in the sale. Love it. I'm 55 and size 12.

AdelaideRo · 08/10/2022 18:16

I've not bought anything except chinos from them for years.

They've lost the plot. I used to buy most of my clothes there.

The stuff is either too low, too crazy (the prints) or just not classic enough.

I don't see much at work anymore either. I used to see loads of colleagues in head to toe boden outfits.

JohnnieBodenAteMyHamster · 10/10/2022 19:41

I was about to start a Boden thread, then thought I'd better see if someone else has started a recent one.

WTF are they doing? Dingy clothes modelled by someone who looks like my 18 yr old DD. The catalogue that comes through the post is so dark that I can't actually see what it's illustrating (surely you can be eco friendly without everything being in shades of brown and olive green?)

The dresses are hopeless for short, skinny, flat-chested people (i.e. me), but there's nothing new there. Plus it's all made in China now.

Meadowbreeze · 10/10/2022 19:54

@JohnnieBodenAteMyHamster i agree, whats with the dark catalogue. I had to flick through it under a lamp.
I think they need to change this new branding, far too many skinny 5'10 models frolicking through a meadow. Their demographic is busy mums who often have little time and want nice fashionable bits that look nice on a size 16 body, not a 9st 5'10 model. DD is too old for mini Boden now but I noticed they've rebranded that now to just Boden.

JohnnieBodenAteMyHamster · 10/10/2022 20:30

It's particularly dense of Boden because they're alienating the people they need. I'm 50, have finally got some money to spend after almost 20 years of school fees, and am not spending it with Boden. Which is a bit sad, as I used to look longingly at the catalogue and particularly liked Mini when my DC were little.

kilo · 19/10/2022 14:06

Ugh, I totally agree! What are they thinking? I always get tempted into spending more than I should from their catalogues but this one went straight in the recycling after a quick flick through. I think it's a bit tone deaf to have 18 year old waifs modelling impractical clothes that I can't see myself wearing in a million years. Was already starting to get a bit irritated by their lack of a variety of shapes and sizes but at least some of the models used to look roughly my age, with job, family and a similar (ok fairly aspirational) lifestyle. Boden you should go back to doing what you do best!
Although I guess I will be saving money if I'm no longer buying from them!

BigWoollyJumpers · 19/10/2022 14:13

Off point I know.... but relevant as I used to buy lots from Boden too. Just bought a lovely top and a dress from Fat Face sale. Again, not everyones taste, but they really suit me, and always seem to accommodate by big boobs with floatiness. I am quite short, 5'4", small built, but curvy size 12. Having said that a maxi dress I wanted was too long.... lovely, but loooonnng.

Bluevelvetsofa · 19/10/2022 15:01

Too expensive, as is Fat Face.

DoodlesMam · 19/12/2022 19:04

i wrote to them and got a reply.... they admit they are dissing all us 'normies' but there is little hope of the selling wearable stuff. It's like they have gone mad. look at this thing below - how do I wear that to work eh?

That’s Boden??! Who the hell are they aiming that at? Confused

LucyWhipple · 19/12/2022 20:41

The sales have been next level recently too (I know they discount often but even for them there have been a lot lately.) I fear they are in trouble.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 19/12/2022 20:49

I can still find a few things I like, but in the past I would have found several complete outfits and have to cull my basket before checking out.

JohnnieBodenAteMyHamster · 20/12/2022 15:58

Same here, Waffles. I've had a trawl through the sale stuff and there's nothing remotely appealing. Sad.

SwiftSnail · 20/12/2022 16:02

I agree. The prints have got too much. Any item you wear is so obviously Boden- and not in a good way. It's become quite garish. The summer stuff was almost cath kidston twee.

What did they say they were playing at?

I’ve heard they’re appealing more to their American market, who must be younger, I guess.

SwiftSnail · 20/12/2022 16:05

Oh gosh and just seen the newer stock. They seem to think they are boohoo.com!

rosemarycait96 · 20/12/2022 16:23

Although I don't think I'm the target demographic (age 26, quite petite - but my fashion sense is definitely the total opposite of Boohoo, Zara and the like, it's just not my thing) I agree! Hadn't been on the website in ages as I'm currently pregnant so not really browsing the usual places but it seems to have really changed. Lots of stuff that's very un-Boden and not that nice.

Sea Salt, Fat Face and White Stuff much more up my street. Can't wait to wear all those again post-baby!

Well my DD who is 25, 5ft 7in and size 8 would wear something like that; but she would buy it from Boohoo for £10.

AngryPrincess · 20/12/2022 22:50

Went off them when I discovered the owner supports fox hunting.

Hey. I'm sure your daughter would look amazing in that - but I am 50, a size 14-16 and quite modest, i work in an old fashioned professional environment and I like 'normal' boden. I wish Boden could supply clothing for both types of buyers?
