What fake stuff to buy in Turkey?

We booked to go to Turkey over half term ages ago and now it’s getting closer!

we’ve never been before but I quite like the look of going to some of the markets and haggling (not sure I’ll be very good at that though!)

is the fake stuff all really bad quality or is there anything worth keeping my eye out for? I’d quite like a handbag and a watch.

I would stay away from the markets and buy in the shops. You can get really cheap 'fakes' but the quality is questionable.
A good leather bag with designer logo is about £120-£150. A good cloned watch about £120 and a good quality man's polo/t-shirt £25. The thing in your favour is it's coming to the end of the season so definitely haggle as they want to get rid of their stock. Enjoy..Turkey is a fabulous country

Not sure why anyone buys fake stuff. I much prefer to buy spices, hammam towels and turkish delight when I'm in Turkey. Knowing I had cheated a manufacturer out of their intellectual property rights would put me right off buying a fake.

You'd honestly be better off buying something beautifully made in its own right. I'm sure you'll be able to find a non branded nice leather bag

Don't buy some knock off LV. You'll always know it's fake and doesn't that just spoil it a bit?

Don’t pay more than £20
for a bag, none of them are real leather so daft to
pay More, just get what you think looks nice and you like.
great for kids trainers, Jordan’s air forces etc about £10 a pair.
please do haggle if people say the price they ask it pushes the price up for everything, when buying clothes think primark prices and stick to your guns.
agree with pp watches if you want a perfect copy you pay about £100 but it will look bang on, you
can get cheaper ones if you want to
get a few different ones.
as well as the shopping Turkey is altogether amazing 🤩 you will love it 😍

Fakes fund criminality and 99.9% of the time, can be spotted by those who can afford to buy the real thing.

Save up and / or buy 2nd hand on a verified site.

Why would you openly say you want to buy fakes? It’s morally reprehensible and funds criminals, sweatshops and no doubt some slave labour. It’s nothing anyone should ever set out to do.

I got a real leather mulberry lap top bag.

It's actually very good quality. Had it for years.

They do lots of tracksuits for kids, I bought a few from shops not markets as they were the same quality. Lots of flip flops and socks etc.

Some of the fakes are good quality if you know what you are comparing them against in the shops. Ie hoodies etc. t shirts.

For designer handbags, well I wouldn't know a real from a fake without really looking at it. If your getting a fake, when you go in the shops ask if they have any real leather handbag fakes, they usually do but in my experience it's always on another part of the store that's not on show. They will literally take you in the back to a separate shop/room in that shop.

Why would anyone go out of their way to buy a fake? I don’t get it. Buy a nice lamp or some spices.

No one has said that. But fake goods are definitely not produced ethically - by definition. It’s not a laughing matter.

I don’t think anyone is under that illusion but at least buying straight from the designer you are supporting them, you can look into their ethics and you can find out exactly where the product is coming from.

Way more ethical (and traceable) than underground sweatshops run on slavery.
