Through the Dragons Eye

Just had a random flashback to a kids educational programme that I remember watching at primary school in the 80s.

I just looked it up on YouTube and it was so cheesy but I remember being absolutely enthralled with it.

Does anyone else remember it?

Yep, I do, remember us all going into the school library to watch it and the tv being wheeled in in a massive cabinet, I can’t have been more than about 7 so that’s 30 years ago!

FivePotatoesHigh · 02/10/2022 21:06

I loved this show and we had the wheel-out cabinet too! I seem to remember another show called Geordie Racer as well.

Not playing the YouTube video as I looked this up before and it had not aged well so I think I’ll stick with my memories of it being brilliant!

Oh wow! I remember this am I'm 36 :)

Yes I loved it!

gaggiagirl · 02/10/2022 21:11

I loved this!

bonkersbirdie · 02/10/2022 21:22

Yay it's not just me! I described it to some folks in real life and they looked at me like I had lost my mind.

The evil giant crow creature was a really effective bad guy.

And no... it's not aged well. But it was magical as a child.

I loved it...it was my favourite out of all the ones we watched. My DH had no idea what I was talking about but we both remember Geordie Racer.

WhiskersPete · 02/10/2022 21:26

The large black crow guy was one of the most terrifying things of my childhood. Now he just looks like a man in cape...

Refrosty · 02/10/2022 21:27

All I remember was the epic theme song. It's aged perfectly because it was ridiculously over the top then too 😁

SouthOfFrance · 02/10/2022 21:28

@WhiskersPete oh my god, absolutely terrifying!! I can't believe how scary that character was back then.

Badger girl, Geordie racer and one about a peregrin falcon were also in this series

JorisBonson · 02/10/2022 21:28

The theme tune still pops into my head occasionally all these years later!

Does anyone else remember The Boy From Space? Absolutely traumatising.

PocahontasMcGinty · 02/10/2022 21:29

Through the Dragons Eye, Geordie Racer and Badger Girl. Look and Read I think the programme was called.

The TV being wheeled into class every week, loved it

SouthOfFrance · 02/10/2022 21:29

Was the scary crow thing called Charn?

girlboss94 · 02/10/2022 21:31

We had Through The Dragon's Eye and Legend of the Lost Keys.

Remember that vividly. I'm 27 and believe I watched it early noughties! What a throwback

Yes! Charn. He was horrifying 😩😂 I'm 30 and watched this at school. I loved it. Apart from Charn.

Yes! What with that and all the public safety information films we used to come home from school traumatised!

fpurplea · 02/10/2022 21:47

Ahhhhh, memories. Watched it during class during year 2, so... 1991? Last day of the summer term, everyone brought in games to play, there was even a game gear getting passed around, but most of the day we all sat on the carpet and binge watched all of Through the Dragon's Eye. I'm fairly sure we stayed behind after the final bell for 10 mins to finish the last episode. School's TV at it's finest, I rewatched it on YT over lockdown lol. Highlights were Charn and Gorwen's battle, the Quagmire song and THAT EPIC THEME TUNE.

Puddlelane123 · 02/10/2022 21:52

Omg yes! That evil Crow really shit me up. I still get shudders thinking about him now. Especially that scene where they knitted ‘Help, Charn’ into a scarf to warn the others that he had captured them.

They don’t make good telly like that anymore.

silverpinecones · 02/10/2022 21:53

We watched this too and absolutely loved it! I remember playing "through the dragons eye" with my friend at play times and we would make up quests etc!!

We also watched badger girl and a space one with an alien called Ollie, and also one that had a taxidermist in (was that badger girl?). Strange themes lol but it was great. With that song "Magic magic E"

BarbaraGordon · 02/10/2022 21:55

Yes! I think the one with Ollie the alien was called earth warp
