I fancy watching a film. I read the "films that stayd with you" that'd but seems none are on Netflix, or are gritty/depressing. I fancy something uplifting ir at least gripping, that I will keep watching. Netflix, amazon, usual iplayer etc. Thanks!

Pride, for all the reasons other posters have already said.

Lion is a wonderful film but it's a hard watch and you will cry until you can cry no more. The ending is absolutely amazing. Do put it on your list to watch at some point if you haven't already seen it.

Thirteen lives- it's gripping and it's true. Have tissues ready though.

Balloon
Gripping and uplifting too (puns aside!)
It’s (I think?) a German film from a couple of years ago, completely engrossing!

My go to feel good movie is Eddie the Eagle.

Restoration, based on Rose Tremain's book.
Bull Durham
Hidden Figures
Steel Magnolias (a tear jerker, but definitely uplifting)
To Kill a Mockingbird

The Martian- acting is great, looks amazing. Genuine peril - bloke stuck alone on Mars ffs, everyone is a decent person, strong female characters.

I am going to watch Pride tonight, I don’t think I’ve seen it.

Agree with Lion. For uplifting, Son of Rambow would be my choice

Another vote for Erin Brokovitch.
ps DP says the company she sued is still getting itself into trouble with California authorities regularly.

Lion is a great film but I found it highly emotional which rained on the parade of the uplift !
