Hiding out in my bedroom on this fine morning what are you doing

I am staying out of the way while my fosterling plays with his new parents, this time next week it will just be me in the house as, hopefully, the transition to his new life and home will be complete. I can't pretend this is easy because it's not, he has been here for over two years but he has been found the best match possible.

What does today hold in store for you?

I’m so glad fosterling is going to a lovely home, @bloodywhitecat, but gosh, that must be tough for you.
Are you planning to foster more littles or take a break?

Usual Saturday for us here. DP and I will go out once DD’s carers arrive. Am hoping we can get out of London to nearby cathedral city for a mooch and some lunch. I’m meeting a friend for dinner this evening - will be lovely to catch up. I expect DP will spend his alone time gluing little bits of plastic together 😀.

Belledan1 · 01/10/2022 10:02

I have only just woke up so in bed on phone. I must have needed it as my sleep pattern awful. DH at work and DS still asleep. Need to get up now and do a clean.

Kfjsjdbd · 01/10/2022 10:21

DH has taken the kids out for the morning so I have the house to myself, and I’m running the marathon tomorrow so I’m planning on sitting on the sofa and eating some carbs.

I have a week away planned then I was going to come home and sort out various bits and pieces but it looks like I won't have an empty room for long, plans are afoot for another little one to join me before the end of the month.

Enjoy your mooch, I am heading out to our nearby city in a minute to get some last minute bits and pieces, it will be my first time out alone in...years! My DS is into gluing bits of plastic together too Grin

@Belledan1 Stay in bed, the cleaning will wait until another day.

@Kfjsjdbd Good luck tomorrow, DD has done the London a few times now, she always vows "never again" the signs up as soon as entries open!

We are heading to Glasgow as DH is running the half marathon tomorrow. We plan to do a bit of shopping this afternoon then meeting family for dinner tonight. I'm looking forward to it. I've not been to Glasgow for ages.

LadyLolaRuben · 01/10/2022 10:55

I've ran some errands at the shops. Just had a mini English breakfast in a café. Going home to batch cook shortly

Surtsey · 01/10/2022 10:56

Staring out of the window in dismay at the massive, beautiful cotoneaster bush in my garden. It is absolutely covered in berries, which must have weighed it down too much yesterday, when we had a fairly stiff wind. The poor thing has gone entirely sideways, and I'm going to have to butcher it right back. Not looking forward to it at all. Sad

Pumpkinpatchlookinggood · 01/10/2022 11:06

Currently at work. By some strange happening I found a box of Roses in my car boot.
Managed to eat 5 without even noticing!
Oops!

Ylvamoon · 01/10/2022 11:16

I'm sitting in some university library while DD has a good look around.

I'm not well and would rather be in bed...
But other DC is at alton towers with dad, so I did get away lightly!!
Or so I keep telling myself.

FleeUpFreeTime · 01/10/2022 11:18

Freezing to death waiting for the boiler to be fixed sometime today. Mulling over whether to have any cuppa and a sarnie

FredWinnie · 01/10/2022 11:39

Sitting at my computer, still in my dressing gown, nursing a slight hang-over and giving Demon Kitty (tortoiseshell cat) a fuss. She's currently curled up on my lap so I can't move

ivfbabymomma1 · 01/10/2022 11:42

What an amazing thing you do!

I'm just going to give the house a clean whilst DH decorates our DS bedroom!

Mollyplop999 · 01/10/2022 11:50

Been and fed the ponies, washed the kitchen floor, had a shower. Now curled up with a cuppa and Mumsnet.

Puppypads · 01/10/2022 11:54

Walked the dog, put on a wash, and replaced a wonky loo seat. Kids are with their dad till tomorrow so I can suit myself for the rest of the day - although I do have a haircut booked for 2.30. Then my plan is to take the dog for another quick trot then sit on my arse!

mondaytosunday · 01/10/2022 13:19

I'm still not showered and dressed but my daughter and I did just move all the furniture off the back patio and sweep up all the leaves. Yesterday I put the cushions away and one or two need washing due to bird poo (job for today). Gardener coming Monday for autumn tidy up so prepping for that while the weather is fine (like how you tidy up before the cleaning woman comes, not that I have one of those).
Done some dishes and cleaned up the flood after one of the cats knocked a vase of flowers over. Put out the rubbish. Should vacuum. An exciting day it seems....

tealandteal · 01/10/2022 13:24

How bittersweet for you, but how nice for your fosterling. I am currently watching TV with DS while DS2 has a nap on me. When he wakes up we are going to Tescos to spend some vouchers on some new clothes for the winter for DS.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 01/10/2022 13:29

Got up early to drive DH to his dad's to work on their joint business. He was drinking last night so wasn't too safe to drive imo. DH only drinks once or twice a year so it's not an issue.

I'm curled up on sofa with blanket, coffee and dressing gown. DD's going to a birthday party later. Will need to wrap the present. Binge watching The Office US.

SalviaOfficinalis · 01/10/2022 13:33

Ah that’s lovely but very emotional I’m sure OP.
Will you keep in touch once he goes?

I should be doing some cleaning while DH and DS are at the park but I’m sitting on the sofa instead.. oops.

crosbystillsandmash · 01/10/2022 13:34

I'm off to the Enough is Enough protest in town.
It looks like there's a good turn out so far 👊👊

riotlady · 01/10/2022 13:35

Slightly hungover this morning as DD slept at my parents so went out for dinner and cocktails with DH. Had a bacon sandwich in bed and then went to pick her up and had a lovely browse around the local food festival. Now we’re all zoned out on the sofa!

Greyarea12 · 01/10/2022 13:54

Dd away to her Dads so i am finishing off the decorating in the kitchen and look forward to the moment I can say .. done 😊

OldTinHat · 01/10/2022 13:55

How bittersweet for you OP. What a difference you must have made to their life.

Umbrellabee · 01/10/2022 14:22

How wonderful for the little one, very sad for you though. I’ve washed the school uniform and waded through the school emails to find out what I need to do for this week! Been to Morrisons for milk and treats to watch Strictly with later. DH is watching football, kids are playing and on ipads so will probably just sit down with a brew now!

bloodywhitecat · 01/10/2022 14:53

@SalviaOfficinalis it is up to the adopters but it is encouraged so I hope so. I have just had an update from them and it seems to be going well. I am sitting in a cafe, drinking tea without a small child or a husband, it feels weird!

@bloodywhitecat I'm in awe of people who foster, so well done to you and I hope you enjoy your bit of alone time!

I got up early in the dark and headed to outdoors boot camp in the rain. Really wasn't feeling it initially but always end up working hard and feeling proud of myself. Home, bacon butty, shower and then dragged DS to the shops for football boots. Now back home and enjoying a sit down and a bun Grin
