Good morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I'm drinking my second coffee of the day while the washer finishes it's second load. Dd2's up & already chattering away 🤯 The washing was going out on the line but it's just started raining so maybe not 🙄

We're nipping into town this morning to sort dd1's bank account - they've asked to see some ID, and I want to have a look for a couple of jumpers. It was freezing outside at work yesterday! We'll probably nip to the market too for a top up of fruit.

It's probably frozen pizzas and chips for tea; dd2 wanted to make curry but there is only one chicken breast in the freezer so that'll have to wait until we go to Asda tomorrow.

Later on, dd2 wants to watch Hocus Pocus 2. I'll probably make a start on the next little house in my crochet village while we watch. I've given up on the cardi I was making for now - it wasn't interesting me 🤷‍♀️

What about all of you? 🙂

Still in bed waiting for the house to warm up. Blush

Need to go collect DS1 glasses, pop to the butchers and supermarket.
DS2 wants to do some painting this afternoon so will sit down with him and do that to calm my nerves about the new energy prices from today Grin and bake a chocolate fudge cake with ds1.
Then nice chilled evening either watching bullet train or hocus pocus 2.

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 01/10/2022 09:20

I watched hocus pocus 2 last night and thought it was fun.

I've had a hellva two weeks here, but going out for lunch with a friend today who is always up for a laugh. I may have a wine with lunch but nothing tonight. Kind of lost the taste for it.

Have to nip to Post Oicce to return a parcel to JL this morning.

Late afternoon going to sit down with a hot choccy and work on Oct budget. Been winging it since price rises and fed up of transferring money back and forth.

Reminds me. Meter reading due today too.

have a nice day all x

Lovingtheglitter · 01/10/2022 09:29

I was meant to be meeting a friend for lunch but she is ill so postponed for next weekend.
My youngest left for uni a few weeks ago and his bedroom is empty so I will be going in armed with a hoover and cleaning products until it's clean - may be there a while!!
Have got chicken out the freezer for dinner and a nice bottle of wine! Watching a film later - red Joan - a Judy dench film that I recorded ages ago on the planner - hope it's good!
Would like to get a bit of crochet done this afternoon I'm making a blanket for the sofa for colder evenings.

Simonjt · 01/10/2022 09:30

A lazy day today, my son has an ear infection so he will probably be a bit grumpy today as they hurt. Rugby away game today, we were battered last week so lets see what today brings.

I’m running the London marathon tomorrow, so I’m getting all my bits ready for that, signing up seemed like a good idea at the time…

Have a lovely Saturday everyone

BreadmanAndCake · 01/10/2022 09:36

Birthday celebrations with my mum and my sister today. All I really fancied doing was going to a sports bar and playing a couple of hours of snooker (haven't played since having my eldest 4.5 years ago so I'm probably going to be super rusty) and having a few drinks followed by a late lunch and some cocktails. I'm really looking forward to it! Grin

ifonly4 · 01/10/2022 09:36

DH is home, but doing an online course for work.

Washing is already out. I'm about to go down to Dunelm for some overdue towels and mat for our downstairs toilet. Coffee&cake at home. Online tai chi class. Hopefully lunch with DH. A local walk. I have a free bet for horseracing, so will watch a race. Read my book. Cooking fish curry tonight.

CourtneeLuv · 01/10/2022 09:38

Washing, cleaning, food shopping. Trip to the big 'pound' shop. And proper butchers. Might take the rib out if the water is OK.

HerRoyalNotness · 01/10/2022 09:41

We’re going on a parade float in our town to represent our sports club, raising awareness we exist. Then one child to soccer. After that eldest is in a high school marching band competition so we will go and watch him and some rival bands this afternoon and into the evening if they make the finals.

plantingandpotting · 01/10/2022 10:02

Sounds like a lovely day! I'm trying to save Hocus pocus til closer to Halloween but will probably cave.

Just had a nice moment reading Little Red Riding Hood to DD on the sofa whilst huddled under a blanket. Trying to get her excited about her new red coat 😅

We'll probably head to the shops for warmer PJs soon and have lunch at m&s.

Need to do some bulb planting so will make the most of the bright sunshine and crack on with that this afternoon.

Feeling like it'll be a slow, small pleasures kinda day!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/10/2022 10:05

I've put washing away, more washing in the machine which I'll peg out in a bit. Need to think about food for later and I'll go out for a walk as the sun is shining.

FivePotatoesHigh · 01/10/2022 10:11

I’ve been for my flu jab and am now curled up on the sofa watching An Extra Slice. I‘m on my period and feel a bit grotty but also thrilled as I’ve come off the pill to TTC and was waiting for my first proper AF to show up.

DH is going away overnight for work. After this I’m going to do some prep for a job interview and ring my dad for a chat. Planning fishcake, rice and tenderstem broccoli for tea and will watch The Voice and maybe a film.

HazelBite · 01/10/2022 10:12

Got up and noticed DH was wearing his Arsenal shirt, so decided two can play at that game and put on my Tottenham shirt!
We are looking after DS's dog today, wasn't sure why we were until we saw him on BBC TV on the picket line at Euston station!
Will go for nice dog walks today so I hope it doesn't rain. The cat is looking very put out in our bedroom so will expect room service as there is no way she will come downstairs to eat while the dog is here,

ilovebagpuss · 01/10/2022 10:14

Washing pegged out and another load in, I'm trying to mange without the tumble dryer as much as I can and just use it the odd 20 mins to finish off. Think I will need to use it a bit today as it's been a wet week here and we have no clean towels!
Nice and breezy though.

Going to take DD (15) into town in a bit for a few little bits like tights and fluffy socks. Need to go to dunelm but it's across town so might have to wait. DD 12 needs a new duvet.

Nothing in for tea need to do a food shop but I've lost all motivation so then it will be a pop to the local coop and spend too much, sigh.
Going to light the fire later and try and sort a meal plan and shop see above 😐and find lost inspiration.

Will probably try and find a film we all agree on but that's hard work, so will probably end up watching an episode of House of Dragon or Chernobyl. DD 15 wanted to watch Chernobyl and we've seen it but are keeping her company.
DH has gone out to help in a local event set up and he'll be out most of the day.

Feels like a baking kind of day may make some scones.

Rebelmcstreettuff · 01/10/2022 10:15

Morning everyone, also tackling DS1 bedroom now he's back at uni.
My DS2 has just made cinnamon swirls which were lovely.
Going to put all my summer clothes away today, did my shoes yesterday.
Quick shop at Asda and home bargains then home to pamper myself(shave legs and armpits 😁) in readiness for drinks and a curry with friends later.
Can't wait as have been unwell the past few weekends.

EnormousStuffedMarrow · 01/10/2022 10:16

I love these threads. Very calming!

Solidarity to your son @HazelBite

I'm in bed with Covid, who is turning out to be not a very good bed companion!

DP has gone to collect some items he bought in an auction, but has reported back that he's stuck on the motorway.

Before he went he brought me a tea, tablets, the paper + choc & hazelnut croissant, so I have all I need for the day!

PurplePositivity · 01/10/2022 10:20

I've got carried away with washing & have run out of line space and pegs!

Like a previous poster I'm off to Dunelm as we need some more bedding, I'm sure there'll be loads of other things I'll see and convince myself I need!

Happy Saturday everyone x

Sunnydayz · 01/10/2022 10:22

I’m breast feeding my 7 week old wondering if he will go to sleep or if I’ll put him in a sling or a bouncer to get my washing hung up outside.

Later I’ll do a food shop.

After that, if the baby’s asleep, and my partner can help sort kit out, I might be able to go windsurfing before it gets dark 🤞🏼
(pre-pregnancy hobby that I’m desperate to get back into!!)

Nannewnannew · 01/10/2022 10:24

Have put washing out and having a coffee while another load washes, sun is out here.🌝
Later this morning I’m going to a quilt show where apparently there are 30 stalls selling crafts and fabric-really looking forward to seeing what’s available.

This afternoon am popping round to visit a friend who is rather poorly and hopefully cheer her up.

This evening I might do crochet or if I’m inspired by this mornings quilt show I might start some sewing. 🧵

Have a good weekend everyone.

Isabelle70 · 01/10/2022 10:27

At the moment having coffee and toast with 2 dogs staring at me. This morning I am off for the food shop, a big one for some store cupboard stocking up and then to builders merchant for mortar and undercoat.
This afternoon I will be finishing off making the hallway bench storage unit that I will be selling.

Chocchops72 · 01/10/2022 10:28

it’s cloudy and damp here, so I’m washing the windows.

later I will help DS2 make a tiramisu, and I think we will bake some scones (thanks to a pp for that inspiration!).

I’m reading this thread to get some ideas of what to do in my spare time: both DSs are pretty independent now, my work (school) was crazy at the start of the year but has calmed down, and I find myself lacking interesting hobbies, feels like I’m just filling in the weekends with housework and mumsnet / Twitter until Sunday night rolls around.

DialsMavis · 01/10/2022 10:31

Been to Park run, was slow but at least I wentand washing already hanging out. Boring day today: DH away for work so putting everything back together in the sitting room after a week of decorating, cleaning, popping to shops, maybe some sanding of doors upstairs.

DD has jusrol cinnamon swirls in the oven. Then I will be cajoling her to get all of her homework done so that she isnt always doing it the night before it has to be in. Then I will be cajoling her to put a load of stuff on Vinted that she asked to do rather than charity shopping it. Her enthusiasm has wained since she saw it all sells so cheaply!

Dhik · 01/10/2022 10:46

Currently lying on bed trying to coax my 1.5 years old to sleep. I want to finish the ironing.

devildeepbluesea · 01/10/2022 10:50

Had a nice long walk/run with the dog earlier. Just off into town for a protest march! Later DD and I will look about and watch Ghosts.

Mummysgogetter · 01/10/2022 11:02

Just laying on the bed drinking coffee with the cat on top of me. Heading into the garage gym shortly for a strength workout, then yoga to finish.

will head to Aldi this PM for the food shop and a walk into the main town for stuff we can’t get at Aldi.

later on will make dinner and read my kindle.

god how boring do I sound ? Lol

bluesky45 · 01/10/2022 11:07

Just been to the hairdresser to get all the boys hair cut (DH and 2 ds). I have to go too, to supervise the kids while DH gets his hair done. Almost an hour there, then home and now we're waiting to get ds2 fly spray done at the gp.
When we get home, we will be dropping DH off at the rugby club to the coach to an away game. Then lunch and I'll take the DC to the library and then do the tesco shop.
It's movie night tonight and pizza for tea. And at some point we will need to go out to pick up DH before the DC go to bed.
And at some point I need to get some work done! Not sure when I will fit that in.
