Do your young dc like the tweenies?

I've been ill recently so my neighbour has had my 3yo dd for a few afternoons and has been watching old vhs videos with her. She's introduced dd to the Tweenies and she is now obsessed with them. I've got dd a few tweenies DVDs off eBay since and it seems a bit dull compared to kids tv today (I was a bit old by the time they were on tv so have never watched them before). I don't actually think it's too dated but it's just a bit bland (Bella is quite annoying though!). I was just wondering if anyone else's DC likes them and also if there are any other similar older programmes that dd may also enjoy

The Tweenies were so good! That was the golden era of kids tv! The Fimbles were good too

Kittensandpups · 26/09/2022 18:57

@Bytrgrewd my dh has been watching them with her and he loves them too now! He watched them with his younger siblings when they were younger though so maybe that's why he loves them

I hooked up a VHS player and showed DD some of the shows I used to watch- she enjoyed the Tots, Spider, Rosie & Jim, and William’s Wish Wellingtons :)

PuttingDownRoots · 26/09/2022 19:02

The twenties were on cbeebies when my 11yo was a toddler. She loved them. Far better than Bing or Peppa pig.

She was completely oblivious the morning they showed the Jimmy Saville episode (it was quickly withdrawn from iplayer. I didn't actually pick up on it... )

mynameiscalypso · 26/09/2022 19:04

My 3 year old loves Teletubbies and the even more incomprehensible Baby Tiddlytubbies which is on Youtube.

853ax · 26/09/2022 19:04

Tweenies were on cbeebies 9 years ago had not realised canned.
My toddler really liked them

Kittensandpups · 26/09/2022 19:05

@PuttingDownRoots I remember the outrage when that was shown again! The kids wouldn't have understood the relevance though

I'll gonna be singing Williams wish Wellington's for the rest of the day now

Kite22 · 26/09/2022 19:17

Mine all did, as did my peers friends.
Yes, not a great deal happens, and that is a good thing.
It is aimed at pre-schoolers.

SizzlestheSausageDog · 26/09/2022 19:19

My DD has recently discovered Balamory and is obsessed with the soundtrack.
There was some good toddler TV on 20 years ago!

Johnnysgirl · 26/09/2022 19:21

Nothing bland about the Tweenies? All mine loved them.

Rebelmcstreettuff · 26/09/2022 19:21

My eldest loved the fimbles especially the character Roly Mo,he had a toy one that rolled around.
I'm sure he's at the back of the loft somewhere lol

inkyscribbler · 26/09/2022 19:46

We have a dvd of rainbow - proper vintage! My kids all loved it, my youngest is 8 now, eldest 15. They all went through a phase of watching that dvd over and over.
The Tweenies was pretty current during my CBeebies years…

cookiecreammmpie · 26/09/2022 19:50

I remember getting ready for work about ten years ago and watching the Hoobs at 6 in the morning on channel 5. I miss it.

CoffeeIsForClosers · 26/09/2022 20:08

I found them really creepy, so my kids were never allowed to watch them Grin

I liked Balamory, though. And Tikkabilla, Storymakers, Doodle Do, Boogie Beebies, Come Outside. Those were the days!

Chattycathydoll · 26/09/2022 20:20

@CoffeeIsForClosers i also found them creepy- and did you see Boohbah, around the same time? The stuff of nightmares!

remember1 · 26/09/2022 20:21

Have a search for Waybuloo and Fifi and the Flowertots

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/09/2022 20:22

The Wiggles are much better than the Tweenies.

inkyscribbler · 26/09/2022 20:25

Come outside with auntie Mabel❤
look on you tube for the ‘useful holes’ song fir apiece of classic kids tv… holes, holes, useful holes….. 😂

CoffeeBeansGalore · 26/09/2022 20:27

Mine loved Tweenies, Bob the builder, Little red tractor, Balamory, Mister Maker, Numberjacks.
There was a show with Alpacas but can't remember the name of it.

inkyscribbler · 26/09/2022 20:31

Nuzzle and scratch the alpacas, mine loved them too.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 26/09/2022 20:31

Alpaca show was Nuzzle & Scratch!

Beachcomber Bay was another one.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 26/09/2022 20:32
