What would you consider to be a luxury?

What types of things would you consider to be luxuries?

Having more than a couple of takeouts a week?

Going on holiday every year?

Going on holiday once a year. Not been for three years. To be honest at the moment everything is.

FindingMeno · 26/09/2022 18:53

Holidays, meals out, days out, hairdressers and beauty treatments, pets, cars.

coodawoodashooda · 26/09/2022 18:57

A lovely wardrobe of smart clothes.

JaninaDuszejko · 26/09/2022 18:59

Anything you don't need is a luxury. But that can include things that in other circumstances are essentials. And what is a luxury to one person is not to another (e.g. I'm not fussed about takeaways, so having even one a week sounds too much). And while I recognise holidays are non-essential I can afford to have several a year so don't particularly think of them as luxuries.

MintJulia · 26/09/2022 18:59

Being able to stop work, and live my life how I want to. With a healthy income to pay for holidays, a car, clothes etc.

If only ! 🙂

Wilkolampshade · 26/09/2022 19:02

Being able to get people in to build/decorate rather than doing it ourselves

A holiday. Haven't had one for 6 years. My adult DD's go away, and DH travels for work but I've not been on so much of a w/e away for an age

Sorry, feeling sorry for myself. 😅

Whataretheodds · 26/09/2022 19:04

Anything with a designer label.

flingingmelon · 26/09/2022 19:05

Not having to worry about money

WhatALoadOfWankyness · 26/09/2022 20:11

Eating out at a proper restaurant, being able to choose whatever you want

Jojobees · 26/09/2022 20:15

Take aways, eating out, alcohol, convenience foods, hair or beauty treatments/ products, holidays, days out, new clothes that aren’t strictly necessary. Plenty of things I consider to be luxury items, that may be every week spending habits to others.
we all have to cut our own cloth.

ShirleyPhallus · 26/09/2022 20:17

The real luxury is having the choice isnt it

Badbaddogagain · 26/09/2022 20:19

Time to just mess about

thesnailandthewhale · 26/09/2022 20:19

A lie in

LargeglassofRosePlease · 26/09/2022 20:19

For myself a luxury would be a healthy mind that isn’t poorly and not having to fight a daily battle with my brain..

Massages are a luxury and for me a weekly foot and head massage would be amazing.

Travelling business class on long haul flights and also frequent long weekends away abroad with my husband would be lovely too.

Everydaywheniwakeup · 26/09/2022 20:21

Not having to check my purse or bank balance before spending money.

CarolShields · 26/09/2022 20:23

A chef.

Full time housekeeper who keeps a rota of which rooms & cupboards have been done & when, with a cleaner coming in every day.

A house on the headland near Zennor.

A crash pad little mews near the Albert Hall😂

@Wilkolampshade Being able to get people in to build/decorate rather than doing it ourselves

Yes, yes, yes. Or a cleaner, but rarer than hens teeth around here, even if I could afford one.

MangosteenSoda · 26/09/2022 20:38

For me it’s quality time alone. Single parent with disabled DC, so I appreciate quiet time with a good book. This is not often attainable Grin

I spend on holidays because they are worth it to me. I’d rather have 2 or 3 AirBnB trips in interesting locations throughout the year than one expensive AI. I’ve been lucky enough to manage this recently and consider it a luxury worth the cost and effort.

Not that bothered about takeaways and I try to eat relatively cost effectively at home. Batch cook, no meat for most of the week sort of thing. I’d rather do this to save the money to accept invitations out at weekends as restaurants are a luxury I really enjoy.

Always4Brenner · 26/09/2022 20:39

Prawns salmon now only for Christmas now. Unless in a fish pie.

GrimmTales · 26/09/2022 20:41

Going to a hairdresser. Even a wash, cut and blow dry is really expensive.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 26/09/2022 20:45

Holidays
Take aways
Hair cuts
Beef and lamb
Salmon and cod
Days out

Bloodybridget · 26/09/2022 20:46

Getting a taxi. It used to be "never unless on expenses" for me but since I started cancer treatment in 2019, I do very occasionally splash out.

Sounds like cleaning would be a good business to be in in your area.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 26/09/2022 20:51

I'd like to add
Nails and beauty treatments
Tattoos
Pubs
Weekly Primark shopping
Fags
But I'm probably being a bit nasty here .
