how gorgeous is Greece?
Half a century old, travelled all
over the world and never been before.
I can't imagine going anywhere else
now. Cant believe I left it so long.
Crete: so beautiful!

Hydra is gorgeous.

PollyCreo · 25/09/2022 20:27

It's the most beautiful country 🥰🇬🇷

Greece
Abra1t · 25/09/2022 20:28

I’m back from Crete, too. Fascinating place.

guestusername · 25/09/2022 20:33

Love love love Greece, Crete especially 🥰

Naxos is one of the most beautiful islands!Chios is lovely too and not very well known.

catfunk · 25/09/2022 20:37

Agreed, I love it. Some sides of the islands can be windy and choppy but get the right side and it's heaven. The sea feels tropical.

Wagsandclaws · 25/09/2022 20:44

Ahhh my daughter and her husband have been sending photos of Kefalonia this week.

It looks divine, she loved the turtles and the relaxed laid back vibe not to mention how beautiful it is.

Said she is spoilt for most other med destinations now.

billycorn · 25/09/2022 20:44

Greece is by far my favourite European destination. Great sea/beaches, wine and food. Plus the people are wonderful. The mainland is great not just the islands: Lefkada, Peloponese and Halkidiki.

loislovesstewie · 25/09/2022 21:03

Love Greece, been to lots of islands but the best is Andros. Just lovely, no airport, you have to get the ferry from Rafina, quite mountainous but very pretty.

Jakadaal · 25/09/2022 21:04

I'm currently in Kos and out 3rd visit here. I also love Crete. Greek people beyond friendly and weather is fabulous

PollyCreo · 25/09/2022 21:06

There's something magical about Greece.

Confession time - I only live 1-2 hours away from Greece (the clue is in my name)

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 25/09/2022 21:06

Would recommend 9 muses Hotel in Kefalonia. A mimsnetter recommended it to me on here. Really lovely.

user1471480493 · 25/09/2022 22:34

Also love the small islands. Spetses, Hydra, Paxoi. All wonderfull.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 25/09/2022 22:40

I've spent the afternoon looking at holidays in Greece for me & my 2 daughters for next summer.
Looking at Kefalonia/Zakynthos/Skiathos/Thassos
I haven't been to Greece since I went with ex-h pre-kids.....
Can't wait already!

Technophobic · 25/09/2022 22:42

My favourite islands are Amorgos and Astypalea, hard to get to but lovely and quiet.

love4189 · 26/09/2022 08:50

happy for this to be moved to travel.
Sitting in a dark dining room in England this morning dreaming of olive groves and the deep blue aegean...

Another Greece lover here.

Crete is just beautiful. We stayed in Vamos, a village about 20 minutes outside of Chania. I can't wait to go back.

We did Symi this summer which I thoroughly recommend.

One day I will spend a whole summer just hopping the islands with nothing but books and a backpack.

Schrev123 · 26/09/2022 09:12

Ooh just spent hours researching holiday to Crete.. looking at rethymno - specifically the Elounda bay palace hotel.. can anybody tell me if there's a sandy beach right by that hotel (walking distance) as it's a deal breaker for my lot & would be a fail if turned up to pebble beach! This thread is very useful!!

DazedandConcerned · 26/09/2022 10:07

Off to Rhodes next week. I call it my happy place.

The people, the food, scenery, sea… it all calls to my soul.

love4189 · 26/09/2022 10:23

ooh very jealous, enjoy Rhodes, looks so beautiful. Greece is my new happy place too!

Stunning scenery, amazing food, lovely people . Great history and culture. Super place. And your money goes a long way.

Stomacharmeleon · 26/09/2022 15:22

@Drywhitefruitycidergin thassos is gorgeous and you go over on the ferry. We stayed in a small family run hotel and have returned a few times. So laid back and relaxed and a lovely restaurant that was basically someone's back garden five minutes away. We loved it.

Ridley10 · 26/09/2022 15:31

Great thread. We are looking at Greece for next year. But I’m not sure where to start. But there’s some great suggestions here.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 26/09/2022 15:49

I work for a Greek company and was sent this before I first visited the office 😁

Canoewoman · 26/09/2022 15:50

Love Greece. Been to Thassos, Corfu and kos. Booking for next year, but not sure which island. Really want to go to the mainland as well!
Athens is on my list for a city break next year.
The people are the best!
