Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, and debating whether to have a walk into town to the market for some fresh fruit.

I need to put the washer on and quick tidy round first though.

If we don't head to town, both girls have homework to be done and I have prep for Tuesday evenings Rainbow and Guide meetings to sort out. I also have four tops to shorten the straps on for a friend.

I'm not sure what's for tea yet - quite fancy a curry I think 😋

Later on, I want to carry on with the cardigan I'm crocheting for myself -it's been very slow going lately!

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam 👋

It’s my DD’s 17th birthday today, we’ve just opened presents, she’s gone up for a bath now with her new lush stuff and I’m about to cook us a full English as requested! Really looking forward to it, a rare treat for us!

Later on we’re going to the southbank with my family and a couple of DD’s friends for a walk around followed by dinner in a Mexican restaurant then back to ours for drinks and cake.

JamesBondOO7 · 24/09/2022 09:47

Good morning.
Sunny here, south west facing livivng room with glass wall so very sunny - had cuppa and toast waiting for tesco's any min now - then we clean the shopping and store in the two FF's - then shower/bath, clean the wooden floors with a duster and then fried full English about 12 to 1pm, then around 3pm go out to shops for odds and ends and bite to eat, back home 5ish, and I wont bore you anyomore lol

ABrotherWhoLooksLikeHellMugYou · 24/09/2022 09:49

Trying to support DP who now has to do a massive DIY job just to get the new fridge to fit in where the old fridge was because of some unseen cowboy bodge work hidden behind the old fridge. This is not what we had planned for today.
Takeaway for tea, for sure.
Fucksake.

lucysmam · 24/09/2022 09:49

@MummyInTheNecropolis that sounds like a lovely day! Happy birthday to your dd 🥳

@JamesBondOO7 it's not boring! I love seeing what everyone else is up to on a weekend.

JamesBondOO7 · 24/09/2022 09:53

@lucysmam
Thanks, you asked for it, lol.

I too find stuff like this nice/interesting. Shopping nearly here - must go, enjoy your day/weekend.

Iwasjustasking · 24/09/2022 09:54

The kids have had a rare sleepover at a family members so I’m taking the opportunity to have a long hot bath in peace and dh is doing some painting, pick them up about 12 and then dd1 has her activity 3-5.30. Take away for tea but im
not sure what, maybe McDonald’s and then home to watch Saturday night tv with snacks and wine!

Mrsjayy · 24/09/2022 09:55

Morning on my second coffee trying to work out how to get rid of ads at the top of the page ! Anyway going out with Dd1 later mooch about a farmers market the coffee and cake then I'm going to Dd2s house to watch strictly,

Justonedayatatime11 · 24/09/2022 09:56

DD has just gone off to her Dads until tomorrow afternoon. I'm mumsnetting on the sofa with a tub of quality street, once DH has sorted himself out we'll deal with the menagerie, then head out for a walk on the coast and hopefully a nice lunch somewhere. Home for Strictly and a bottle of champagne tonight

tuttifruit · 24/09/2022 09:56

Took the dog for a walk and stopped off to get coffee and croissant Smile

Biscuitandacuppa · 24/09/2022 09:59

Morning, I should have been driving down to ikea to look at new bedroom furniture for dd’s room but we have both caught covid! So it’ll be an Amazon Prime rescue food shop delivery, hot water bottles and an all day disney+ session.

@ABrotherWhoLooksLikeHellMugYou I also have had a similar issue. Had my fridge freezer delivered last week and had to take out the larder cupboard to access a plug. Behind the cupboard I found an open junction box with the wires wrapped in masking tape and metres of grey cabling everywhere! Nightmare

Littlemissprosecco · 24/09/2022 10:01

Dropping DD to uni, four hour drive each way, hubby in bed with covid, so going alone. Feeling a little 😢

Still in bed after a very long day walking around Birmingham yesterday , visited daughter who has just started uni there. My husband has gone to make porridge for me 😂 . When I finally get up going to sort out my son’s bedroom we bought a lot of stuff for him as he’s got my daughter’s bedroom.
Going to potter in the garden, put the winter covers on the furniture. Husband is cooking a Thai curry tonight, few glasses of red and a film. Love darker nights as I finally sit and relax with wine and candles 🙂

marlowe5 · 24/09/2022 10:12

DCs at their dads. Had a long drive for work yesterday so am just lying on the sofa with a cuppa under a blanket 'watching am I being unreasonable' on iPlayer! Must move at some point!

UsernameTaken76 · 24/09/2022 10:13

Morning! DH is making cream cheese bagels with bacon. Then we are off to a festival lots of street food and market stalls. Will food shop on the way home then the rugby followed by Strictly with some sort of fakeaway for tea if still hungry.

LeonoraFlorence · 24/09/2022 10:13

We are just about to go for a walk/scoot through the woods near our house and then we will pop in to our favourite coffee shop for brunch. Bigger DDs have been to their tennis lessons with DH, little DDs been ‘helping’ me bake this morning.
Later on we have a friends 40th party so we will be having a chilled afternoon in preparation. Well, I will be as I have salon appointments, DH may feel less chilled 😂
Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday!

Kim82 · 24/09/2022 10:18

We’re all snotty with sore throats and full of a cold here, nobody has slept well so I think we’ll have a lazy day mooching around the house today. I need to go to sainsburys up the road to pick up the few things that were unavailable in my Asda delivery this morning and I’ve got some washing to do but that’s it.

My eldest arrived back from Tenerife at 3am last night so I think he’s coming round for dinner and to tell us about his holiday (he lives down the road in a house share with his friends). I’ll do curry for us all then I plan on a film and an early night tonight. I’m shattered and feel rough.

Objectionhearsayspeculation · 24/09/2022 10:27

We are heading out soon to a vintage rally (tractors and steam engines) and looking forward to seeing some people there we haven't seen for a couple of years. I have made a picnic and will sneak in some extra chocolate as a treat because we've had a crap week with family illness and a vehicle accident.
DH is cooking tea later so even better, Dds and I will have a Stranger Things binge with more chocolate (and rum for me!)

Iammatrix · 24/09/2022 10:28

Just had lovely breakfast, boiled eggs and toast and cup of tea.

Going to download really good audio book, plug in headphones and do housework.

DH planted in front of TV watching sport. Out of the way.

After I will have a long bath.

Cook a lovely dinner later, watch last episode of Netflix series and then start series 2. All washed down with bottle of wine.

Have a great day all MNetters x

Simonjt · 24/09/2022 10:37

Husband is at baby sensory with the baby, I’ve got a home match later against Maldon.

My son is at a friends house having a playdate. It’s my turn to make food for the Duke of Edinburgh class at temple tonight, so I’ve been up making somosas, khaman, aloo tikki, pakoras and gulab jamun.

No plans as such this evening, we might watch an episode of rings of power and thrones.

Refrosty · 24/09/2022 10:39

Nothing. Glorious nothing. My car's engine had a fault during the week so plans cancelled and DH has a funeral to attend. My body needs a day like this. Currently in bed rewatching Amelié and hocus pocus will be next. I might the day with a bath. Let's see how far I'll get with two noisy DC in the mix 🫣

MadisonAvenue · 24/09/2022 10:49

I’ll probably be crying in a corner before the day’s over.
Long story short but our oldest son is moving back home today after breaking up with his long term girlfriend, they only moved in together at the end of July.

His room had already been repurposed and his bedroom furniture (minus the large wardrobe which he took to the rented house) had been moved into the spare room. The wardrobe is coming back with him and won’t fit in there as it’s quite tight for space so we’re going to have to do a room swap.

I hate mess, as does my husband, and our son is so incredibly messy. Wet towels thrown over the bannisters, mugs used and left lying around, he manages to leave ‘stuff’ messily in every room he goes in.
The bathroom he shares with his brother has been spotless since he moved out, his brother would complain daily about the state it had been left in when they shared before.
My husband only commented a couple of weeks ago that the house was so lovely to live in since he moved out and that my mood had changed for the better.

So yeah, I’ll probably have a breakdown before the day’s over.

Fuwari · 24/09/2022 10:57

My new rug finally arrived this morning (DHL have been a nightmare) so doing a deep clean of the living room before I put it down (exciting eh!). Some general pottering. Ramen for dinner. Then a couple more episodes of Dahmer with some wine.

seasunshine22 · 24/09/2022 11:01

I’m at work, currently 10 weeks pregnant and feeling very tired was up in the night with the one year old.
Finish at 4 probably go home and get cosy and watch a film with DP once the baby is in bed.
