Another parking thread - with photos!

So, I have a disabled badge and space marked outside of my house. I parked yesterday and there was a gap between me (red car) and the orange car in front. I went to go out to the supermarket this evening but discovered I couldn't actually get out because silver car had somehow levitated into the gap and I was blocked in. Okay, so I parked my car leaving a third of the disabled space in front empty because my car is small, but, still!

I'm seriously impressed with their parking skills!

It's recycling day tomorrow. I've wedged an empty water bottle between our bumpers. Hopefully that will make more of a noise than them crushing my bumper!

I hope this is a worthy parking thread

You could shimmy out of that you have space behind. It would just be a lot of little manoeuvres.
I have similar issues here, often have to get out with maybe 2 ft play.

Are they actually overhanging the disabled space? They’d get a ticket for that.

Is there not enough room between you & the car behind to manoeuvre out? Tbf I’d not be able to parallel park back in if I got out. My DSis has amazing parking skills, I’m so envious. She could park the silver car no probs!

Is the painted line in front of the silver car's back wheel the border of your disabled bay? If so they're technically in your space. My neighbour has a disabled space and there is room for his SUV to park in the middle of it plus at least 2 feet in front and behind.

He is technically parked in the disabled bay as can see the white line about a third of the way down under the silver car. I would contact the council. If its against the law to block someone on their drive - is there not anything similar to blocking in a parking bay? x

@OldTinHat you have at least a foot behind you, you can easily get out of there.
and the silver car has about 29cm in front - plenty to get out with a bit of a wiggle.

i live in a city and parking like that is nothing unusual when space is at a premium

I am absolutely in awe of the silver car owner's parking and have left a note with a smiley face to say as much! Seriously, I've no idea how they got in there and I've been in all day and am beaky as to what's going on outside because I have little else to do

And yes, I could have shimmied out but I only wanted to go to the supermarket for crisps so Lewis has saved me some calories!

High Jackman’s wife can parallel park like that also Grin amazing skills, he Instagrammed it or tweeted it and it was picked up by loads of papers iirc.

I think you could get out op, it looks like there's a couple of foot of space behind. It would take about 20 movements but I think it could be done.

They looked like they shoehorned themselves in. I’d say they’ve curbed it to park it on that tight position or the orange car moved forward.
As the silver car is using up the disabled bay, I’d say they’ve got a ticket.

If you wanted to be nice you could drop your car back 6 inches to help them get out.
no reason to go out of your way though. They shouldn’t really be overhanging your bay

The should get a ticket for that surely as they are partially parked in a disabled bay.
