Another parking thread - with photos!

So, I have a disabled badge and space marked outside of my house. I parked yesterday and there was a gap between me (red car) and the orange car in front. I went to go out to the supermarket this evening but discovered I couldn't actually get out because silver car had somehow levitated into the gap and I was blocked in. Okay, so I parked my car leaving a third of the disabled space in front empty because my car is small, but, still!

I'm seriously impressed with their parking skills!

It's recycling day tomorrow. I've wedged an empty water bottle between our bumpers. Hopefully that will make more of a noise than them crushing my bumper!

I hope this is a worthy parking thread

They looked like they shoehorned themselves in. I’d say they’ve curbed it to park it on that tight position or the orange car moved forward.
As the silver car is using up the disabled bay, I’d say they’ve got a ticket.

Just about to say that the silver car reversed up the curb in order to shoehorn into that space.

OldTinHat · 22/09/2022 20:34

Update! Just heard some revving and orange car in front of the silver car has just gone. Its been there since the weekend. So silver car can race out of that space!

But yes, to all, I can squeeze out if I need to. I don't though, I just find it funny and we all love a car thread!

The back axle of the silver car is over the disabled bay marking. So it is "in" the disabled bay, and should get a ticket. Unless of course it has a disabled permit on display, which somehow I doubt. Would be handy if you could find a parking warden, but failing that I'd send your picture to the local council together with a picture of the registration, don't know if they'd act, but a ticket might stop the selfish git from parking like that again. Blocking a car in is bad, but one displaying a disabled parking permit is worse. What is wrong with people?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 22/09/2022 20:37

Do you know the cars owner?

I can't tell you his exact name, as that would be outing; but I can tell you that he says "Groo-veeee, Baby!" quite a lot.

RaraRachael · 22/09/2022 20:43

Since when did kerb become curb?

OldTinHat · 22/09/2022 20:44

No it doesn't have a disabled badge on display and I've no idea who the car belongs to. I've never seen it before.

But honestly, how ridiculous! I've no need to move but really hope my empty bottle 'trap' makes the driver think - although if no one parks in front they can just whizz out and they won't know.

I'll report back with news as it happens!

Can’t be booked as having the white disabled bays are advisory and no legal recourse if a non disabled car is parked there.

Since people(including myself) forgot how to spell.
HTH.

Wow.....now they are in how on earth do they get out!?

Same way they got in. I
park like this regularly.

Just checked and sadly oldstudentmum is right - "Can’t be booked as having the white disabled bays are advisory and no legal recourse if a non disabled car is parked there". But if there is a sign stating the restriction, the sort you see in high streets and the like, then the infringement could be enforced. I'm guessing there's no sign. But what a selfish twat.

OldTinHat · 22/09/2022 21:15

@oldstudentmum @F4chrissakes
Yes, you're right!

I rarely get to park outside my house (public road, no restrictions, disabled bay makes no difference, I have to pay for a permit to park in a council car park as I can't guarantee a space at home) but the levitating car is just incredible!

The daft thing is that I used to drive large estate cars and transits. I could levitate them! I've had this little car for almost a year and can I park it? Nope!!

He is technically parked in the disabled bay as can see the white line about a third of the way down under the silver car. I would contact the council. If its against the law to block someone on their drive - is there not anything similar to blocking in a parking bay? x

Regrettably disabled bays are advisory. Because disabled people don't really need them since they are just taking up space on the planet that able bodies people could use.

chocolateisavegetable · 22/09/2022 21:23

In your shoes I’d be so in awe of that parking that I’d let him get away with it

OldTinHat · 22/09/2022 21:55

@Quveas - indeed!
Latest news for those still invested (I LOVE a parking thread!), I've heard a kerfuffle and parking noises, my Ring camera says that orange car has been replaced by another hence blocking in Sir Silver Car of The Levitation may be a thing that will restrict his quick getaway!

I shall sneak outside in a bit once the sound of engines and voices have subsided to take more photos.

I shall not fail ye MN! :D

The orange car is back! And it's also levitated!

I would leave a note and say could you please not block me in, I'm disabled and may need to get out in an emergency.

LondonQueen · 22/09/2022 22:13

That is impressive! Though these days a lot of cars have sensors and you can get incredibly close to things without hitting them which is useful.

Agree with this.

I'm seriously impressed with your neighbours car parking abilities though!

OldTinHat · 22/09/2022 22:38

I'm just waiting to meet the parked car owner to shake their hand!

OP posts:
PriamFarrl · 22/09/2022 22:43

I used to live on a similar street and could park like that.

BadNomad · 22/09/2022 23:10

Move your car forward next time. Impressive parking or not, he/she is very wrong to be parking over a disabled space like that. Cheeky fucker.

OldTinHat · 23/09/2022 01:44

CF indeed!!

Here is a Ring shot at 1.30am, cars all still in position. Recycling bin out by the gate as required by the council! Bottle is still wedged between bumpers.

I'm so tired! I think I'll have a nap! But I need to see how the driver will get out! Or maybe they will stay parked for a week or so...

In the meantime, I'll quickly shuffle off to the spooky music in the garden thread. I've not caught up since the rose in the garden!

It's raining. That's all that's changed 😆

Car still there, bottle still there, bin hasn't been emptied...!
