See below had flower tattoo a while ago I have drawn petal on to see what it would look like. Do I get one petal as I have drawn or get two petals what looks best

I’d go one big one small. Not two of the same size.

Mossyeyes · 22/09/2022 20:54

Oh bless. It's quite a dark, solid tattoo. It's not clearly a flower, I thought it was a "settings" cog too. I wouldn't go for a petal. However, it's your hand - you should have anything you want on it!

FannyFifer · 22/09/2022 21:00

I think you should do some research & try another tattoo artist.

I love those type of flowers - take a look at some orla Kiely type leaves.

I think it's just that the tattoo isn't 'finished'.

Ignore some of the mean comments on here - alot of very skilfully done tattoos look like 80s poster art to me. I prefer very plain graphic tattoos.

The butterfly is lovely!

Tuters · 22/09/2022 21:06

I was thinking that because the flower was so bloody I'd probably go for like a very dainty dot/line work sort of mandala 'frame'.

Tuters · 22/09/2022 21:07

Bold not bloody!

Houselamp · 22/09/2022 21:33

Obviously way neater than my quick doodle of it, but could you have it extended a bit to soften it instead of trying to cover, that shape would make a nice base for a bold mandala type one

I love them all

Why are you getting the flower covered then?

That can be true and your opinion is valid, but this not skilfully done; it doesn't look like poster art; and the vast majority of comments are honest (if a little blunt), not mean.

Those Orla Kiely style leaves would finish it off brilliantly!

Ignore other posters. Not every tattoo has to be a work of fine art FFS there are different style options available!!!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 24/09/2022 15:05

I'd have centre coloured in red and tell everyone it's a jammy dodger. 😉

Have decided on below stem and leaves to add under my flower

I don’t think he’s a good tattooist his lines are too thick on both tattoos, being a tattooist for alot of years doesn’t always mean they’re good at it. Cover ups from a good tattooist would definitely be a better option

tonightelmowillrise · 24/09/2022 18:43

I thought you were getting it covered with a butterfly?

lockdownrainbow · 24/09/2022 19:27

More helpful comments :(
I don't want a new tattooist I didn't ask should I get a new tattooist
I love my tattoos the original question was how many leaves I have decided on the stem and leaves as will look the best

My tattooist can do any image you show him I have 13 other designs

Not many tattooists can do that or do it well. Why are you so keen to use the same person?

TeaCosyApplePie · 26/09/2022 13:40

I'm with the other posters- find a really great tattooist and it will make all the difference. Mine has a degree in art, is a fantastic painter and it shows. The work on the flower shows very poor technical ability. Another tattooist would be able to make it amazing.
