Literally a scratch. But is hot to touch.
I feel fine, have googled septis and no confusion etc. But live alone and worried.

Pics are 6 hours apart

it looks bruised to me, did you bump it too?..

Get some warm salty water and bathe it regularly. See how it is in the morning but it looks like your body is fighting it well. How do you feel? Chills, fever, shakes?

PurplePrecipitations · 19/09/2022 01:25

No, I fell over about 3 weeks ago. Wee bruise and a small cut. But been fine since. Looked like it was healing fine

More worried about the redness that is now half way down my leg! But I know I can be quite health anxious

HebeSunshine · 19/09/2022 01:27

What did you cut it on?
Keep a look out for any tracking lines going up your arm.

HebeSunshine · 19/09/2022 01:29

Oh it's your leg.
So it was healing but now it's gone really red and hot?

Yes, in a nutshell

Can't really see properly from the picture but If that's covering half of your leg then yes I'd be inclined to go to A & E.

Windinthepillows · 19/09/2022 01:35

Draw a line around the red patch and then monitor if it is moving via a red streak line, I would get it checked if hot to touch, will find link for tracking explanation.

PurplePrecipitations · 19/09/2022 01:36

I don't know if you can really see it here, but there's a red 'circle' around the initial graze.
I know I'm terrible with health anxiously so happy for people to tell me I'm being over the top lol

Phone 101 for advice, it might be that waiting till the GP opens tomorrow is safe or there might be a minor injuries unit where you can be seen quicker.

HebeSunshine · 19/09/2022 01:39

They are like streaks coming away from the cut. You need to be seen urgently if this happens and the infection is spreading to your blood stream (something like that. - I read about it on mn before)
Here's a pic to show you

Pixiedust1234 · 19/09/2022 02:05

oh it happened three weeks ago. It looks like it might need antibiotic cream which is gp. Is yours open tomorrow?

Carry on bathing and draw around the redness, if it gets worse call the NHS line and ask for their advice (or call anyway, it won't hurt to reassure you).

Strathyre · 19/09/2022 02:08

I would go to A&E, yes, or call 111 but i think you want to be seen by the OOH doctor pretty quickly. When I had similar with an insect bite they sent me to OOH first and tried oral antibiotics but it kept spreading so I needed IV antibiotics via A&E. They didn't admit me though, just gave me a shot in A&E and sent me home. Look out for streaks as PP have said.

sleepismyhobby · 19/09/2022 02:10

Looks and sounds like cellulitis you'll need a course of antibiotics to clear it up

Strathyre · 19/09/2022 02:11

Hmm just seen its half your leg, if it's that large an area I'd just go to A&E, sounds like it's spreading quite quickly.

sleepismyhobby · 19/09/2022 02:14

I meant to say I'd certainly phone nhs 24 and you'll prob be given an ooh appointment

carefullycourageous · 19/09/2022 02:23

When I can't work out what to do I call 111 and answer honestly. So in your situation I would do that right now and let them run you through their algorithm. Good luck Brew

LaurieFairyCake · 19/09/2022 02:37

Half your leg? You will be told to go to A and E I think

Good luck Flowers

101 is non emergency police. 111 is for non emergency medical advice.

Clymene · 19/09/2022 07:41

It looks like cellulitis to me. You need antibiotics so go wherever you can get seen soonest.

Maytodecember · 19/09/2022 07:46

If it was injured 3 weeks ago and is now hot and redness spreading then it needs treatment. I believe the next stage is “tracking” lines of infection in veins but by that time the infection is well established. Minor Injuries today.

girlmom21 · 19/09/2022 07:49

Phone 111 for a minor injuries appointment

MinnieMouseclubhouse · 19/09/2022 07:50

Can you get an on the day GP appointment (at our you have to call at bang on 8am, then you get a call back, and then an appointment later in the day if necessary. I'd do that if possible, otherwise you'll be sitting in a&e for hours.
If not then yeah, a&e.
