Lever arch files. I’ve never known one last longer than 3 months before all the prongs misalign and the clip things due.

Why are they so shit and yet keep selling and selling?

I recently ordered a set of school exercise books because normal notebooks with the ring binder thingy hurt my hand (I’m left handed) and so I’m currently hating on the fact I can’t use my nice flowery notebook and have to stick with this plain blue one.

on a similar note I went to a postgrad open day talk to discover all the chairs with small desks where on the right hand side and seriously contemplated how I would write notes if I attended… I have yet to find a solution to this aside from a possible clipboard lol

(I realise these issues are both only problems for left handed people but still!)

Also, those small metal teapots you get in cafes that leak all the time whenever you pour.

My dishwasher. Wont switch on when you stand there pressing the button over and over but walk past it and it'll suddenly switch on and start a 4hrs wash.

Speedweed · 18/09/2022 19:41

Any domestic appliance with uncleanable nooks and crannies, eg washing machine powder drawer. The seal could also be made with anti-mould rubber.

The new crossings where instead of having the red and green men high up and beeping, they are low down and silent, ie whoever presses the button blocks them from sight for everyone else waiting to cross.

Buses need an additional signal to distinguish between 'pulling away from stationary but staying in the same lane' and 'changing lane' - rather than just an indicator which could mean either.

These should be banned.

Items that are just shit design

The latest George Foreman grill - earlier versions were brilliant but oil leaks out the back and sides of this one and it's very difficult not to burn yourself when you open it. No idea how the design passed quality and safety checks and have just gotten rid of mine in disgust.

Scissors in plastic packaging that need scissor to open...

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 18/09/2022 19:52

Tin openers.

Packets of meat that give you a corner to pull to open, after a fight you then have to get out a knife that then needs washing as it’s been in contact with raw meat.
Cheese (knuckle) graters.
Various bits of my fridge and freezer compartment that fall open/off if you so much as look at them.
Parking payment machines that don’t take cards and require you to have the exact change or spend half an hour fighting with the phone payment app.
Microsoft computers that decide to update themselves for an hour and won’t let you do anything when you are in a hurry.
I am obviously more tired than I thought 😤

CoraggioCara · 18/09/2022 19:53

Cartons of juice with those white plastic rectangular pouring devices on top. The ones that are hinged and can't close properly.

Plastic bags of sugar that split.

USBs that have a right way and a wrong way. USBC is going to make life so much better

@PeloFondo oh gosh yes that plastic packaging that is so thick that it requires sharp garden shears- just why?!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 18/09/2022 19:54

Car park apps😡invention of the devil.

Eskecially when you’ve given up, gone elsewhere, and can only find spaces that need car park apps🤯

Philippe starck orange juicer. I challenge you to squeeze a whole orange without it dribbling everywhere or knocking the glass over

greenhousegal · 18/09/2022 19:57

Canned corned beef with a key to open. Never worked for me.

Stay seal packets of meat/cheese never stay sealed.

Washing machine draws and door 100% agree..Why make something so difficult to clean.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 18/09/2022 20:01

Hellman's Mayonnaise jars. They're too deep, so to get the mayo at the bottom out, you end up digging around so much you get mayo fingers.

Just make it 1cm shallows!

Saw thread title, came to post this! Also all little milk jugs!

Dotcheck · 18/09/2022 20:03

Yes to can openers.
They work for a small amount of time, but then they are incapable of opening the can all the way around without leaving little islands of unopened can.
And then you try and prise it open and end up with chopped tomato pulp all over yourself

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 18/09/2022 20:04

Cat litter scoops, especially the plastic ones.

Dotcheck · 18/09/2022 20:04

Perforations on the plastic wrapping on the top of sauces

Supersimkin2 · 18/09/2022 20:08

Hand cream tubes that hoard most of the cream in the too-stiff tube. Need scissors and of course you’ve done one hand so they’re slippy and lethal.

Any supermarket product that needs three tools to open. I have to keep knife and scissors in every room in the house now, including the loo.

Bythehairywartsonmywitchychin · 18/09/2022 20:09

Cat food sachets or any kind of sachet/packet, the amount of waste is unreal.

cashless parking meters where you have to press loads of buttons. Why do they take ages to use, and why are they always out of order?

Whisperedew · 18/09/2022 20:11

box Cheese graters that you can’t actually clean

ScottishLavender · 18/09/2022 20:11

The plastic film on top of microwave ready meals. It never, ever peels off cleanly. I always get a long thin strip from the edge first then there's nothing left to get a grip on so I end up putting a sharp knife all round it to cut it off.

Whisperedew · 18/09/2022 20:11

Packaging on bacon and ham

Bythehairywartsonmywitchychin · 18/09/2022 20:13

Flimsy cardboard packaging on heavy things such as cans of Coke and little glass bottles of Starbucks coffee. Why oh why?

Stichintimesavesstapling · 18/09/2022 20:13

Alexa. Years we've had them in the house. Does it understand my very standard south English accent? Never.
