Haven’t done one of these threads for ages. How’s everybody’s Saturday? I had a really stressful shift at work so was glad to finish at 2. Unfortunately I’m working tomorrow as well. Had lunch then popped to Asda. It’s a beautiful day & I felt like I should be out somewhere enjoying the sunshine. Chilling at the moment with a glass of wine & I have written my meal plan for the coming week, including a lamb shoulder curry that’s made in the slow cooker. It’s on BBC Good Food. Wish you could just share it on Facebook instead of having to log in, as I don’t know my password & when I requested a new one the 6 digit code didn’t arrive. Anyway it sounds lovely. Hoping to use my slow cooker a bit more this Autumn/Winter. Going to watch Strictly in a few mins where they show you who is partnered with which professional dancer. Rose Ayling - Ellis will be a hard act to follow. She was incredible. DD13 in her room as per. DH is going for a bike ride.

I've had a lovely chilled out day, Thank you for asking.

Eldest son had his friends to sleepover last night so that was a lovely busy breakfast.
Played with the baby all day and my friend came round for a visit around 2.
DD has been out all day and I've missed her.
Did some Christmas shopping online on behalf of my Mum.

Baby has finally decided to have a long nap so I'm mumsnetting whilst DP makes corned beef hash, It's proper drizzly outside here in the Highlands so perfect weather for it.
We'll finish up the Harry Potter marathon during dinner and this evening.

Ha don't know why there are two pics.
He's not a twin, Mores the pity.
I'd have loved two of him!

PotatoHammock · 17/09/2022 18:09

Gorgeous! I'm officially clearing up in the kitchen whilst my husband wrestles some number of unruly children into baths and beds, but I'm really just eating cheese and doom scrolling.

Uagp · 17/09/2022 18:09

Very little, I hurt my knee yesterday and the weather is miserable so I'm on the sofa with a blanket binge watching crazy ex girlfriend! Dh is cooking some meal prep stuff, I think soup at the moment.

Igo · 17/09/2022 18:12

Lovely day today, took dc2 in a party mowed the lawn - spent some time with dc1 which was lovely 😊

currently Dc are in the garden on the trampoline they had pizza and salad for tea outside as it’s still lovely here.

I’ve just chucked a curry in the pressure cooker for tea tonight

dh is sat watch Monty python.

TiffyTaffy · 17/09/2022 18:15

Feeling a bit crappy after a BFN but have had a sofa day while DH went to watch football and it’s been glorious. DCat has cuddled with me most of the day, even waiting for me to come back when I’ve got up to get another cuppa. Caught up on The Voice and watched the first series of Couples Therapy on iPlayer. I’ve also done an online shop and bought train tickets to visit friends next month. Have now got a chicken fajita pizza in the oven and debating whether or rather when to open a bottle of wine.

Malariahilaria · 17/09/2022 18:16

Have spent much of the day fighting with brambles in the back garden and have scars to prove it. There was a whole area of the garden I devoted to vegetable growing during lock down, then got back to work and left it and the weeds have had a field day. Suspect there are a million potatoes under there somewhere.

Now having a glass of wine and pondering on what to wear as going out with a couple of local mum buddies to the local pub.

Mumofazoo · 17/09/2022 18:18

I have had a day of deep cleaning the house and getting it all ready for the colder months. We have just had a fake away kebab for tea. Ds17 Is in his room dh is watching cobra kai upstairs and dd 13 is watching Netflix with me and we are having a glass of alcohol free bubbly. I love threads like this

coffeetofunction · 17/09/2022 18:19

DS is hiding in bedroom with a hangover, DD1 is at boyfriends and DH is in France so me and DD2 have been swimming, had lunch out and now we're cuddled on the sofa watching rubbish TV.

TheNonsensePotter · 17/09/2022 18:20

We went swimming this morning, then dC1 went to the cinema with a ftiend

Surtsey · 17/09/2022 18:20

I am picking compost out from under my fingernails and drinking tea. We will shortly be having spicy chicken wings, garlic bread, chargrilled peppers and couscous. Or maybe rice. Haven't decided yet.

Chattycathydoll · 17/09/2022 18:20

Absolutely bloody nothing (a good thing).

DD caught a miserable cold at school, came home snotting everywhere yesterday, and I woke up with it too. We both feel rank and have spent the entire day napping, watching tv and playing video games. Normally when ill we do at least something- crafts, bit of housework- but today we are both knocked for six and I have said nope, forget the rules, screens all day. Tomorrow we can be people again, today we are couch potatoes.

Mollyplop999 · 17/09/2022 18:21

Spent all day at the stables exercising ponies and laying new rubber mats in the stable. Been a lovely sunny day. Just sat down with homemade egg fried rice and salmon.

TheNonsensePotter · 17/09/2022 18:22

We went swimming this morning, then dc1 went to the cinema with a friend. DH went out to homebase, dc2 and 3 napped while I cleaned and did some tidying up. DC are all currently watching a film while DH preps our living room to be decorated, then I'm doing baths and bedtimes and we'll have our tea (hopefully pizza) and watch a film. Will also hoover and mop before I go to bed. Not particularly interesting but I want a clean house for the bank Holiday!

bloodywhitecat · 17/09/2022 18:23

We have been to the park for a playdate with the small one's new daddies. The introductions are going really well but I now have a very cuddly two year old on my lap. I can't quite get my head around the idea that we only have two more weekends together before he moves to his new life. More meeting daddies tomorrow before my DD and son-in-law come to say goodbye to him. We are going to all take him out for the day on Monday. Once he's in bed tonight I am going to have a gin and on of his Freddo's. I love fostering but absolutely hate the goodbyes even though I know it is the best outcome in this case.

Grumpybutfunny · 17/09/2022 18:24

We slept in until 8am, had a leisurely breakfast then went out to pick up some last bits for the holidays. Travel agent called to say tickets were in (who still gets paper tickets!!) so picked those up.

Now sat on the sofa watching jungle book with an easy tea in the oven

Cosycover · 17/09/2022 18:27

Love these threads.

My neighbours are having a garden party so I've been listening to some karaoke since 1pm.

Opened my wine at 4pm because why not!

We have went to soft play and done some DIY and organising of old toys for donation.

DH is cooking a lovely pasta dish at the moment.

Hopefully find a new box set to start when the kids go to bed.

mondaytosunday · 17/09/2022 18:28

My daughter had a piano lesson so dropped her off and took the dogs for a walk. One of them has mast cell cancer, got tumour removed this week, huge wound but he's slowly getting back to himself (he's 13 but very lively normally).
After lesson/walk off to Waitrose to collect groceries- obviously issues there we had to wait half an hour but they gave us a free drink. Then there's an artist open studio weekend so we went to three different venues snd looked at about 12 different artists work. So fabulous and one house (showing five artists) they were so welcoming and full of bonhomie we wanted to move in! Bought a pot for my daughter to store her paint brushes, a beautiful glass bowl, a silver and coral necklace and a pot from a woman who had been on the Great Pottery Throwdown (no I didn't ask her what Keith was like, but she said it was an amazing experience and like a three month intensive ceramics course). I love talking to the creators about what inspires them.
Back home made marinade for our tuna steak dinner, which I'm about to start cooking! Then we will watch a few episodes of Masterchef Australia to round out the day (then another dog walk...) and after dd goes to bed I'm really into How To Get Away With Murder on Netflix.

Lacdepassy · 17/09/2022 18:29

Dh is reluctantly away with work so I'm home alone with the teenagers. The older teenager jumped into bed with me last night and ended up sleeping with me all night which was lovely. We chatted until late at night and I listened to lots of teenage gossip that she would never usually tell me. Ddog also jumped onto the bed and stayed with us too - dh usually tells him off.

The oldest children went off with friends and the youngest child and I went for a lovely long beach walk and had hot chocolate.

We have all just arrived home and have talked ourselves into having a takeaway and home movie night.

A perfect day. Can't tell dh as he's a home bird and really missing us. I'll just tell him we had a boring day 😁

dotdotdotdash · 17/09/2022 18:34

Good for you @bloodywhitecat I hope he settles well with his new dads!

I went out and chose paint and poked around the charity shops; and DS12 and DS14 went to the football with their dad. I'm choosing a film for us to watch (either Isle of Dogs or Man on Wire) and enjoying a beer.

lissie123 · 17/09/2022 18:41

Just eaten sea bass with a tarragon sauce and green beans. Bloody lovely. DH now finishing off some bits of the garden(we’ve had it landscaped). DS is doing stuff in his old bedroom ( moved out two weeks ago but came back to dog sit for us last night) and I’m in front of the telly with two smelly dogs and a glass of fizz.

LadyCluck · 17/09/2022 18:43

Just bathed both children.
Husband is night shift.
Its been a rubbish week so hoping for a chilled evening on the sofa.

itsgettingweird · 17/09/2022 19:10

Not a lot Grin

I can't believe it's 7pm already but I think knowing having 3 days mentally made me waste this 1!!!

I haven't actually wasted it! Ds was at an in house club meet last night after training at 5am. I'd been at work all day before going straight there again afterwards and getting home at 9.15am.

We were back at 6am for training this morning!

We've spent today eating nice food, watching films, having a nap.

I'll do the washing tomorrow. Asda came today and I need to pop to farm foods tomorrow.

We are having a roast on Monday as no swimming or work.

Then back to training 5am Tuesday!
