Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in peace. The washer's on it's second load, I've tidied round a bit & been out with the first load and the recycling. I'm going to get some chicken and tomato sauce out to defrost for tea in a minute.

I'm not sure what we're doing today yet - dd2 did want to go to town to the Asian supermarket for some of their snacks, & I want some spices, but she said she didn't know as I tucked her up so I'll see when she gets up.

If not, I'll start painting squares on the babygro I've acquired to turn a stuffed elephant into Elmer - I forgot to raid the art cupboard & bring home felt for his ears though 🙄

We bought some dark chocolate at Asda last night to try making hot chocolate bombs & a sugar mouse mould last week so we'll probably have a go at those over the weekend.

The aforementioned chicken will be cooked in the tomato sauce, with some vegetables & pasta on the side for tea 😋 I'll probably have a glass of wine or two while cooking & with mine.

What about all of you? 🙂

It's very unusual for me, but I've been up for ages!
I've been drinking tea and watching Gogglebox and now I'm watching a Hallmark type Christmas film. I'm loving the peace and quiet...I could get used to this!

FayeGovan · 17/09/2022 08:59

Morning all! I slept really badly, so lots of coffee here. Also just had a strange breakfast of a huge papaya filled with granola. Facemask and eye mask here before a shower. Have a friend's hen do all day today starting at 11 so must start getting ready, hopefully once I have a drink I'll feel up for it! Hope everyone has a lovely sunny day.

GoneWithTheWine1 · 17/09/2022 09:07

Full of a horrific cold, my throats burning and haven't slept much. Got to go shopping and a friend is coming over this evening for a catch up, hoping I can manage it all haven't felt this horrible with a cold in a long time. Sad

princessspotify · 17/09/2022 09:11

Morning. The cat woke me up at 6, couldn't get back to sleep so got up and put the washing on.
Ds9 has his first football match today with a new team so will be heading off soon. Looks lovely out but I suspect it's cold. Ds13 has tennis this afternoon.
No other concrete plans for the rest of the day. Will have sausage, mash and veg for dinner.
I need to tidy the house a bit as working tomorrow and Monday.

Kim82 · 17/09/2022 09:24

I woke up at 6.20am this morning so had over an hour to myself to sit quietly drinking my tea. I love starting my days like that!

So far I’ve put the shopping delivery away and hung out two loads of washing (the third and final load is in the washer as I type). Dh is painting the fences today and I’ll probably clean the house as it’s rank.

Out of the dc, only 8 year old dd is awake at the moment, the 15 year old and 18 year old (plus friend) are still asleep so I’ll remain quietly on the sofa until they wake up then get moving. Can you tell I’m using them as an excuse not to do anything yet 😂

Tonight we have a 40th anniversary party to go to which will be fun. Hoping to be home for 10pm because I’m such a party animal! Plus we’ll have the 8 year old with us and she has 2 parties tomorrow so we don’t want her to be too tired for them.

CourtneeLuv · 17/09/2022 09:27

I've had a cup of tea, done yesterday's washing up, got the washing on. About to go out for the shipping in a min. Will make chicken soup because my husband isn't well. Not sure what we'll do for the rest of the day, it's a bit overcast. I did want to go to decathalon and a particular butchers in the next town so might do that after shopping.

MinnieMountain · 17/09/2022 09:36

It’s the 8yo in our house with a cold. He’ll probably have a duvet day.
I’ve been awake since 03:30 for the second day in a row.
I’m make pastitsio for friends coming over tonight. Then to Asda for ingredients for brownies for MIL’s birthday party next week.
I've also got to attempt to move a rose as the tree it was climbing up is being removed on Tuesday.
DH is cooking something with aubergines.

gingercat02 · 17/09/2022 09:40

Morning @Lucysmam. Lovely day here, been up for ages after an awful nights sleep.
Nice day planned, few chores this morning - haircuts online shopping etc.
Meeting friends for lunch and then an afternoon of cocktails while the menfolk go to the football.
Something easy for tea and and evening watching Saturday night tv.

Chelsea26 · 17/09/2022 09:44

I’m still in bed, I want another coffee but DP has gone back to sleep and I’m too cosy to move. I can hear the kids pottering downstairs so might ask them to make me one!

I have to go into town later as I smashed my phone screen yesterday so need to get that fixed and might look for a new top for tonight.

The boys are going to their dads this evening and DP and I are going to my sister's engagement party on the Southbank.

ThereIsATInWater · 17/09/2022 09:53

Unusual for me I've been up a while!

I'm normally reading this thread at around 10.30 having just woken up!!

But today I had my flu jab booked early, so both DH and I were up and out early.

Been to be jabbed, then had breakfast out.

Later picking up DC and GD and going to a village autumn fair.

Then I might tackle the back porch area, which has turned into a dumping ground.

hopeishere · 17/09/2022 09:55

Also had a dreadful nights sleep and feel sick. DH brought DS to rugby and I'll collect him. Am still in bed with the dog. Going to get up, wash face, get dressed in a nice pink sweatshirt to cheer me up. Then pottering, bit of grocery shopping and the Saturday papers.

Chelsea26 · 17/09/2022 09:59

DS1’s a good lad!

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?
lucysmam · 17/09/2022 10:04

@Chelsea26 even more enjoyable when someone else made it, too!

I am about to shift and see if the girls want to have a walk into town after all before I start Elmer...once I finish this cup of coffee!

Finishing painting the kitchen, I’m disappointed that the colour is darker than the tin and contemplating going over it by mixing the remaining paint with white but what a faff.

Looking for a new dining table chairs and food shopping, going out to lunch. DS returns from a camping trip.

Simonjt · 17/09/2022 10:28

Morning everyone.

We’ve gone away for the long weekend as we thought London would get even busier. I have a match in essex today, so I’ll have to set off for that in a bit. My husband is taking the smalls to a farm park in a bit to wear my son out.

Tonight we’re going to catch up on mafsuk and make pizzas for dinner, ooo need to buy yeast.

Surtsey · 17/09/2022 10:36

Well, I was going to an event connected with my hobby today, but the organiser has cancelled it because they tested positive for Covid last night.

So I'm doing housework and laundry instead. Lucky me. Confused

ThreeRingCircus · 17/09/2022 10:37

Morning everyone.

I got up about 8.30am and had a cup of tea then made a "toast sampler" for breakfast. It's a really silly tradition in our house that once in a while I make a load of toast with every possible topping we have in the house and put it on a platter for everyone to just help themselves. It's ridiculous but DDs love it😂Today was a slice of toast with one of: marmite, butter, peanut butter, honey, marmalade, jam or nutella.

DDs have been doing a jigsaw and watching a bit of TV and DH and I are now on our second cup of tea. All still in PJs but planning a bike ride and a bit of house tidying later.

Pizza, popcorn and a film night tonight. We take it in turns to choose the film and tonight is DD2s choice so it's bound to be Aladdin (again) 😂

Chelsea26 · 17/09/2022 10:43

I love the idea of a toast sampler as a thing!

To be fair I don’t often eat toast but the other day I had two slices and couldn’t decide so had

1/4 butter and marmite
1/4 peanut butter
1/4 dairylea
1/4 dairylea and marmite

and thought - if anyone was here to see this they’d think I was bonkers!

Glad I’m not the only one! I might introduce it one morning when we have all the kids here!

DS1 has obviously been telling DS2 that he made me coffee and therefore is the best etc as DS2 is now downstairs making us bacon sandwiches!

Sibling rivalry at it’s best!

Delabruche · 17/09/2022 10:46

Love the toast sampler!

I'm having a lie in and listening to the rain. Beautiful. It hasn't rained properly for ages. DS17 is at school and the others are mooching around, probably watching unsuitable stuff on YouTube. I guess I should get up and check!

Rebelmcstreettuff · 17/09/2022 10:46

Morning all.
Been up ages, loving the sunshine today.
Feeling exhausted,DS1 returning to Uni today in new digs so have spent the last few days washing, ironing and shopping.
Don't know how we're gonna get it all in the car.
Hope he settles better than last year, feeling anxious for him.
Takeaway curry tonight 👍

Bellysmackers · 17/09/2022 10:46

I've just got back from a&e with a broken ankle after falling yesterday 😬😬 so an elevated foot for me and DH waiting on me hand and foot (excuse the pun!)
