I'm trying to plan my birthday food for next week and am getting tied up with making decisions. I have too many things I like!

So far I have breakfast and cake sorted Grin but am stuck for lunch and dinner.

Breakfast: deli meats, cheeses, warm buttery croissants, strawberries, nice juices etc

Lunch: ?

Dinner: ?

Dessert: I'm making myself a chocolate orange birthday cake because Waitrose have stopped selling the apple crumble cake I used to get most years. Rotters.

What would you plan for your birthday menu?

On my 40th I had black truffle risotto for lunch and no other meal will ever match that. I have never enjoyed a mouthful of food more. (Michelin restaurant, central London)

For my lockdown birthday we had sushi from the Waitrose sushi bar and pink champagne. I wouldn't mind repeating that one.

Ooh I forgot my pudding!

Banana soufflé with dark chocolate sauce from Tom Kerridge’s restaurant. God it’s good.

B - 2 slices of white sourdough toast with butter and marmite. Lovely coffee.

L - a delicious buddha bowl with lots of interesting salads, an asian dressing, topped with crushed peanuts and coriander. Pressed apple juice with lots of ice and lime.

D - roast shoulder of lamb, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, red cabbage, green beans with garlic, mint sauce and gravy. Half a bottle of very cold Picpoul.

And not one bit of it prepared by me!

Breakfast - an almond croissant from a trendy bakery and a decaff cappuccino
Lunch - very elegant tea sandwiches, with fillings of: cucumber; smoked salmon and cream cheese; egg mayo and cress; and ham and mustard
Dinner - prawn and salmon linguini with lots of cream and dill

As a side note, I love how much effort you're putting into your own birthday OP - it's great to spoil yourself when you can!

Plans have to fit with weight loss goals:

Breakfast:
Whole wheat pita with provolone cheese and spinach

Lunch:
Broccoli salad, home made mushroom soup

Dinner:
Thai restaurant, probably a curry

Cake:
Cannoli cake from a local bakery

mathanxiety · 17/09/2022 17:09

And wine. A dry white.

Full Scottish breakfast with extra fruit pudding.

Cheese and coleslaw tiger roll and homemade lentil soup.

Steak, peppercorn sauce, fondant potatoes and green veg.
Creme bruleé

I am not a woman of sophisticated tastes. 😂

Eggy bread for breakfast, sprinkled with icing sugar and cinnamon
Pho for lunch
Dh’s homemade beef stew for dinner, with a bottle of red wine
Coffee and walnut cake

HippyChickMama · 17/09/2022 17:22

Breakfast: a bowl of Lucky Charms (I always have Lucky Charms on my birthday because I love them but they're so disgustingly unhealthy I can't justify eating them at any other time)

Lunch: a mini afternoon tea with a glass of cava

Dinner: a cheese board with all the trimmings, pate, fresh bread and a real ale or port to drink

Mommabear20 · 17/09/2022 17:29

Breakfast: pancakes, smoked streaky bacon and maple syrup and a cup of tea.

Lunch: Toby Carvery with a Diet Coke.

Dinner: Chinese takeaway! 😂

If it's my birthday, no way am I doing dishes!

As for cake, I'd prefer a hot apple pie with whipped cream 🤣

Egghead68 · 17/09/2022 17:33

Breakfast: fresh croissant with butter and apricot jam; good black coffee

Lunch: Ice-cream sundae

Dinner: Crisps, chocolates, wine

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 17/09/2022 17:37

Nice thread!
Breakfast - smoked salmon & Philadelphia bagel, glass (or two!) of fizz
Lunch - something light as eating out or takeaway for tea. Probably prawn mayo sandwiches on top quality wholemeal bread with black pepper & avocado.
Dinner - if eating out, maybe a sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce, crispy potatoes, tender stem broccoli or if I’m having takeaway a Chinese. I love duck so duck in plum sauce with egg fried rice & some prawn toasts.

riotlady · 17/09/2022 17:45

Oooooh I like this question.

Breakfast: Bagel with smashed avocado, pico de gallo and poached eggs

Lunch: Noodles with tofu and veg

Dinner: If eating out then scallops, thai curry and sticky rice. If at home then DH’s homemade burgers or steak pie and chips.

Dessert: Warm brownie with raspberries and ice cream
