Annoying me that everyone is instantly saying METH, when Cara has a diagnosis of DCD and ADHD. Her erratic behaviour could be the result of either of these.

Whatever the cause I hope she is ok.

I imagine people close to her have tried to help, but you can only help those who help themselves. If she denies she has a problem they'll get nowhere.

Her family and friends have been trying to help, for years. Due to the unfortunate paparazzi craze - they are stationed outside her house and reporting on the comings and goings of friends and family to her home. Her one sister has flown in from London and her other sister has also been seen.

I know people say Mumsnet is a vipers nest or whatever but I'm impressed with the amount of compassion shown on this thread with so many people expressing concern for her and saying how sad it is that she's (probably) struggling with addiction.

Personally I struggle to care too much. From a quick google and info in this thread I've learnt she's 30 years old, absolutely beautiful and worth tens of millions of dollars. She went to a fabulous school and her family pulled out all the stops to get her career off the ground. It does sound like there were some challenges in her childhood with her mum being mentally unwell and a heroin addict, but I'm definitely getting 'poor little rich girl' vibes from her. If she knew how good she has it no way would she risk throwing it all away like this. I can't summon up too much sympathy for her tbh. Maybe I'm being unreasonable here though...

But presumably any drugs could lead to that? Why meth or crack specifically?

Well different drugs affect a person differently. Some are uppers, some are downers, some are hallucinogenic, some are dissociative.

meth is typically associated with twitchy behaviour.

theyoungishman · 17/09/2022 16:02

She's cracked out for sure. She needs to want to get help

I completely agree.

I'm sure some posters will remind us that anyone from any social class can be mentally unwell, but it's a lot easier to get better if you have money and resources.

Money doesn't make people happy or healthy. Nor does it stop addiction or mental illness. While assessments, therapy, rehab, and meds are more attainable if you have money, those are not a guaranteed path to good health and well-being.

You don't need to care about her at all. However her family and friends love her as a person and are concerned for her life at this point and trying to save people you love from themselves is hard no matter who you are. The same privilege that gives her money means that her personal struggles are publicly documented for the world to see and judge and talk about. Hence this thread.

newnamethanks · 17/09/2022 22:14

Yes, you are being very unreasonable Lilgame, she has clearly advanced - as so many do - to a point in her drug usage where its no longer under her control. You aren't obliged to care about her but try to find some compassion for another human being regardless of your perception of the many advantages she has received. I wouldn't swap my childhood for hers and suspect you wouldn't either.

Foronenightonly01 · 17/09/2022 22:37

I agree that we need to be sympathetic but I really really wish society could get over its ‘celebrity’ obsession. She’s tall & pretty and can walk in a straight line (or could at any rate) - why did that make her a superstar or special?… (& yes, I know she’s ‘acted’ a bit too but she’s not exactly brilliant). She needs help, but so do the vast majority who drive the obsession with ‘reality’(/fiction!!!!)🤷🏼‍♀️

Theimpossiblegirl · 17/09/2022 22:44

It's so sad to see anyone on such a self destructive path, famous or not. Her family and friends are doing everything they can but at the end of the day, she can only be helped if she accepts the help.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 17/09/2022 23:05

Just watched the video. Yeh she's off her face.
Her security was doing a good job keeping his eye on her, he must've felt so awkward

This.

Hope she is ok. Hope she will be ok.

I saw the video and she does seem a little off it... hadn't she just been 'removed' from jay z's jet aswell?

You are being unreasonable and quite frankly horrid. Addiction transcends through all walks of life. This young lady is neurodivergent and grew up with an addict for a mother. Her money and 'success' are nothing to do with it.

Do you think families of drug addicts don't help and that's why they die?

Wasn't actually meaning the family, I was meaning the people there filming!
