Two days into the job and she's on stage in St James Palace looking like an appointed Head Girl who happens to have never attended school before.

And to have all her previous Head Girls and Boys right there staring at them all watching.

And she must be pissed off that she appointed her political rival to what seemed like a crap job, now fulfilling a historic role and being the first woman ever to do so.

Penny Mordaunt did a very good job. I was surprised quite how chuffed I was to a watch a woman in that role.

I wonder when they get back to governing again. There was Boris pottering around and holidaying in his last few weeks.

Conference recess was due to begin next Friday. I assume some of that will change. Heaven only knows where it leaves the Parliamentary diary.

She did! Especially considering no ones done it for 70yrs

I suspect half of the government are thinking this at the moment.

I was wondering what Penny Mordant must have been thinking. I was also wondering if Boris was sad or relived to have missed it.

Jacob Rees Mogg had Penny Mordaunt's role till early this year. He must be so pissed off to have missed out.

I'd say JRM and Boris are raging to have missed out.
Maybe The Queen was waiting til they were gone.

I thought there were a few women involved and I thought it was nice given how the Queen went into this as lone female. Times have changed (and are still hopefully changing)

To be fair she must have had an inkling that the chances were Penny Mordaunt would be doing this though

I thought she did an excellent job in it much better than JRM would have done and the fact that so many women were involved was amazing.

Ooh that warms the cockles of my heart. I bet they are both spitting feathers to have lost out and had to watch two women do it in their places. Ha!

Well, I think she has started the job with the absolute clearest example being made of duty before self. So, let's hope that she will take this opportunity to press forward with the thoughts of duty to the country alongside the new King and bring us towards a more optimistic time and lead well.

A week ago I could not abide her. The last two days I have been impressed with her and I'm thankful she replaced Boris in time. She is filling some big shoes right now so let's hope.

Charles had to start his by talking about his dead mum live on TV the day after she died so I guess it could be worse.

She would have known that it was highly likely to happen soon after she took office.

in fact it might have given her a bit of breathing space from politics and what to do next there.

She was last to be photographed with the Queen.

I dunno, she’s pretty forgettable, and always sounds like she’s reading, badly, from a teleprompter. She makes Theresa May look like Mrs Charisma.
