I thought when they said it, it was referring to Scotland?

She read two separate statements, declaring it to be a BH in each nation. I'm not sure why Scotland was mentioned separately.

Looks like its most likely to be Monday 19th from what I've read, although still not actually confirmed! Will everything shut? If we've got an extra bank holiday I'm keen to take DS off out somewhere for the day, but probably not wise to book tickets until nearer the time I guess.

Scotland have different bank holidays to England and Wales so I guess that's why

Scotland has a seperate proclamation of the new King as well because up until the reign of King James I, there were seperate monarchs for England and Scotland. So it's still treated as a seperate monarchy for some cases.

Better to have a bit of negative PR than lose all the money they would otherwise get. Nobody is going to boycott Legoland next year because they dared to open on the day of the Queen's funeral (as an example).

I don't think it's a bank holiday in Scotland (at least before the potential date for the queens funeral). According to Scot.gov next bank holiday is 25 November. It may be a local holiday though. It's not a holiday where I am certainly.

@MsPincher that's what I thought. But have seen it mentioned several times that Scotland already has a bank holiday on 19th. So had to check.

I wonder if it will end up like Christmas day...cant see any big companies opening I reckon the bad publicity they get would be significant...and I bet the staff will take it to the press to complain, even if they have no intention of watching the funeral.
However having said that we are supposed to be checking into a caravan park that day so will have to wait and see what happens.

Tesco had originally blocked all delivery slots for 17th, 18th and 19th, but now only have the 19th blocked out (where I am at least), so I’m guessing they believe it will be the 19th

Ah wait - you're right it's not a Bank Holiday. It's a (public) holiday in some parts of Scotland. My aunt lives in Scotland used the term Bank Holiday, but that's not right it seems - only some parts of Scotland has the holiday too.

The funeral date has been announced and is in the Monday.
