Do you think the Queen held on to appoint the new Prime Minister? I find it amazing that she fulfilled her last duty the day before her passing. Thats dedication 😭

It's possible. She was an amazing woman.

AfterSchoolWorry · 08/09/2022 22:13

I think she did.

Tania64 · 08/09/2022 22:13

Amazing yes. Anyone would think that she had led a pampered life which enabled her to live to 96 & to still be able to stand up.

My Nan is 3 years younger and still plays table tennis. She’s not particularly pampered.

What a way to take away from someone who worked into her mid 90s and was still working 2 days before she died.

Bettyboo12 · 08/09/2022 22:17

Yes she had a a very fortunate life and lived to a very good age. But I do find her dedication to her thrown and her duties to the very end amazing.

I think she waited until she knew for sure that Boris was gone. He partied while she buried her husband.

Hope she haunts the fucker.

Singleandproud · 08/09/2022 22:36

If I was her I'd have held on too, I wouldn't want that unkempt bumbling baffoon handling my death announcement. It would have been awful to have started with Churchill and end with him (and he'd have loved that similarity).

Not a fan of Truss but she handled it just the way it should have been.

ShirleyPhallus · 08/09/2022 22:38

No. There have been many (distasteful) threads speculating on her impending death and saying “oh she’ll just be holding on for <insert landmark occasion>“

Most notably the jubilee and lots of people were expecting her to die then.

She was 96. It’s hardly unexpected.

YesitsBess · 08/09/2022 22:50

Anecdotal, but my grandfather died at 93 recently. Whole family with him, and he did not budge until my Nan arrived. The nurses said it happens a lot.

This is what I want to believe.

ThomasinaGallico · 08/09/2022 22:54

I think she probably had a lot of treatment for whatever it was that enabled her to carry on for the Jubilee and see off Boris. She reminded me a lot of a dear friend and neighbour who is on oral chemo for CML.

What a trooper.

GreenManalishi · 08/09/2022 22:56

I just feel sorry for anyone who has to spend their last day on this earth with Boris Johnson and Liz Truss.

Her father lived the same " pampered life" didn't work for him though did it! Confused

I'm not sure death works like that OP.

Sick of these stupid, tasteless posts on every thread about the Queen. I have met many people in their 90s who are relatively healthy with good mobility and have lived a very normal life, worked hard and raised a family.

Thisbastardcomputer · 08/09/2022 23:10

I think it's lovely she was photographed on Tuesday smiling and Thursday she has died. None of the virtually unconscious weeks on end dying, laid there with her mouth open breathing like a steam train.

It would be my choice of dying.

OhMerde · 08/09/2022 23:11

No, I don't think you can choose your moment. When your times up, your times up.

Shameful post! One day that nasty attitude will come back to haunt you.
Many elderly people live into their 90s now but most of them have the luxury of retiring rather than working until they die
@Thisbastardcomputer Well said. That would be my choice too

Bumpsadaisie · 08/09/2022 23:15

Yes poor HMQ - probably her last fully sentient day on this earth and who did she have to see? Boris and Liz!

God knows her reward should be in heaven for that alone.

I bet Philip was up there giggling at the absurdity of it.

I have to agree.

Way to go HMQ!
