Do you think the Queen held on to appoint the new Prime Minister? I find it amazing that she fulfilled her last duty the day before her passing. Thats dedication 😭

Amazing yes. Anyone would think that she had led a pampered life which enabled her to live to 96 & to still be able to stand up.

Nice - when our head of state has just died.

would you like to share what you have achieved in your life / I suspect very, very little.

Swimmingpoolsally · 08/09/2022 23:30

I also don’t really think you choose your moment like that either op, I’m sorry. I think of all the things the queen could wait for if she could choose. Making liz truss pm Really wouldn’t be up there.

Flapjacker48 · 08/09/2022 23:32

Yes - I suspect the Queen saw the appointment of the new PM as one of her most important duties and would of pushed herself so hard to do it.

How many 96 year olds do you know that were still working?
She didn't want the job, her whole life was in service.
A mother, grandmother, great grandmother just died.
Have some respect.

Iliveonahill · 08/09/2022 23:39

Yes I think she did.

Stichintime · 08/09/2022 23:44

Some people have the ability to tie up loose ends before they die. I think she saw seeing a last Prime Minster in before she went a final duty. People die on their birthday don't they? How tidy is that!

Dinoteeth · 08/09/2022 23:50

Yes 💯 absolutely.

Some people seem to have no choice when they're time is up, others seem to hang out for the right moment for them, wait for family at the bedside, or in some cases wait until the family have gone to the loo or nipped away for food.

wonderstuff · 09/09/2022 00:01

I think so, not consciously, but a sense of purpose seems to keep people going. Would have been another week of worrying for lots of people if they had had to delay this morning’s speech for 10 days.

While I’m amused at the idea of her haunting Boris I think even in death she’d have better things to do.

I find it more than a coincidence that Harry was in the UK.

caringcarer · 09/09/2022 00:04

I am very glad the Queen had a peaceful passing.

I just feel sorry for anyone who has to spend their last day on this earth with Boris Johnson and Liz Truss.

So who would that be then? ( hint: not the person under discussion)

JubileeTissues · 09/09/2022 00:06

"I find it more than a coincidence that Harry was in the UK."

Oh god. Here we go...I'll just pop off and get my tinfoil out.

Ewetoo · 09/09/2022 00:09

I don't think she would have wanted Boris as her chief mourner..
How he would have loved to be outside no 10 tonight delivering the sad news...
Well done your majesty you held him off, he did not deserve that honour.. You welcomed your new prime minister looking as beautiful as always. Your majesty you were glowing on Tuesday, one in a million😢

Lots of people die within a day or two of being at work. Not every death is the result of a long drawn out decline.

notangelinajolie · 09/09/2022 00:45

I do believe people tie up ends before they die. My mum, was one of those people who end up in a hospital bed, end of life care, drifting in and out of consciousness. The first thing she asked me each time I visited was, 'what date is it?' Turns out she was waiting for pension day and another 1.5k in her bank. She passed away at 5 minutes past midnight.
