Just watching BBC1, I think it looks like NW is going to cry.
I know the RF (Charles particularly) don't like him, but he's followed the late Queen for years and must be feeling upset.

There are more than two choices here! Lots of people have managed not to be royal correspondent and not live in poverty. It's not like there aren't any other news outlets or different careers.

Brazen it out. Always.

I felt bad for him by 10pm.

I like Clive Myrie, seems very human. I liked his documentary about the crown jewels, he interviewed the queen for that. And earlier he was talking about his mother who saw the queen in Jamaica

He seems like a lovely man. I loved him on Have I got news for you.

Does Charles have the power to fire him?

I hope so!

Travellingwomble · 09/09/2022 04:24

King Charles (not the dog) probably hates him because he doesnt do enough sucking up/fawning. NW probably thinks this is as cushy a journalist job you can get, pays well, no flights to war torn regions, not alot goes on most of the time so happy days. Cant blame him.

When the princes and countess arrived at Balmoral Huw asked him his thoughts and he said “I won’t give an answer to that”

I wasn’t sure if he was being respectful or uppity with that response; I found it strange

I think that was because he felt he couldn't say he thought she had died.

garlicandsapphires · 09/09/2022 06:26

He got in a little dig at H and M when I heard him on the news, which annoyed me.

BlueThursday · 09/09/2022 06:27

Makes sense now thanks

Yes me too. There was no need for it.

sidewayswalking · 09/09/2022 06:40

I actually thought NW looked completely broken during one of his segments yesterday afternoon with Huw. I realise now they probably had already been told the Queen had died at that point.

ShipwreckSunset · 09/09/2022 08:00

Complete sycophant. Groan every time I see him on TV. He is completely fawning and unquestioning of the RF. bitchy response to Megan not being there too.

Penny Junor is similar, except she seems to think she is part of the RF!

Adversity · 09/09/2022 08:28

I love Huw Edwards as a reporter, I remember my Mother being utterly horrified when we saw him read the news for the first time. She exclaimed ‘somebody Welsh is reading the news’ with absolute disgust. I was team Huw straight away. He had the first Welsh accent I had ever heard.

Huw looked visibly upset as did Clive Myrie the way he said I’m 58 and she has always been Queen in my lifetime, he seemed genuinely shaken.

carefullycourageous · 09/09/2022 08:46

His obsession with the Royals is a bit odd.

It's his actual job to do this.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 09/09/2022 09:01

@LimeTreeGrove
There was no need for his snide comments about MM not going up with Harry earlier. She probably wanted to stay with her kids like Kate.

whilst I 100% agree that there was no need for the snide comments, Harry and Meghan’s children are at home in the US, so she wasn’t staying home to be with them as Kate was doing.

I think Meghan was actually being respectful of the fact that she is making a living around bitching about the family/royal life and it would have been inappropriate to have rushed up there (as well as terribly uncomfortable for her to be in close living quarters with a grieving family she doesn’t care for and has been so vocal about).

Meghan kids are in America, Meghan is in the Uk.

He’s annoyed me so much today. That awful voice and then questioning why Harry and Megan hadn’t travelled up with the others then why Megan hadn’t gone up at all after just saying that of course Kate couldn’t go up as she had to stay with the children.

I was getting really wound up by him TELLING me how I should be feeling to be honest. I'm not normally irritated to that extent by him (although he does remind me so much of Mr Burns off The Simpsons) but do not bloody assume to tell me what emotions and thoughts I need to be experiencing you little twerp.

Doesn't excuse his bitchy comments.

the80sweregreat · 09/09/2022 09:22

He comes across as quite horrible.
I hope they replace him one day.
His remarks over Meghan was out of order
No need for it at all

LookItsMeAgain · 09/09/2022 09:33

Has anyone seen Jenny Bond on any of the channels yet? She used to be a Royal Correspondent but I haven't seen or heard anything from her since the news broke.

God yes, Penny Junor, royaller than royal...awful.

Because he is an odious sycophant who, because he is disliked by Charles, will probably lose his gig as a royal correspondant.

I like this theory. My husband can't stand him and from the little I've seen, he is probably right.

SoupDragon · 09/09/2022 09:38

bitchy response to Megan not being there too.

this sealed it for me. I was ambivalent towards him really but the way he was snidey about her not going to Balmoral was uncalled for.

Samcro · 09/09/2022 09:46

horrible man. hope he retires now.

MomwasCasual · 09/09/2022 09:48

Joining in with the Clive Myrie love. I remember watching him interview someone via Zoom during lockdown- the interviewee was interrupted by their child and he was SO lovely and relaxed about it. His only focus seemed to be reassuring them that it was totally fine!
