Do they put some addictive substance in hummus?

I can't stop eating it! It's just Kallo corn cakes with Aldi hummus and sliced peppers on top but somehow it's so addictive.

Does anyone else have a hummus addiction?

No, it reminds me wallpaper paste.

Greenbeanmcgee · 08/09/2022 16:14

Yes I can’t stop eating it. What the hell is in it? 😆

Agadoodoododont · 08/09/2022 16:22

Yes. And mayo.

Greenbeanmcgee · 08/09/2022 16:22

Sliced peppers and red onion on top that should say.

Wow. Never thought to add anything to my already delicious 10 x daily sesame ryvitas with a liberal spread of hummous. Will immediately get some red pepper and red onion slides to try

mondaytosunday · 08/09/2022 16:27

Caramelised onion hummus is the best.

demokitty · 08/09/2022 16:35

Moroccan spiced houmous is lovely too!

Greenbeanmcgee · 08/09/2022 16:35

Caramelised is good but so sweet that I can't eat it too often. I prefer plain or red pepper.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one with a hummus addiction. I never understood the appeal until a few years ago and now I can't get enough. Likewise with mayonnaise.

You won't regret it.

It's the garlic, I love garlic Grin

Flyinggeesei234 · 08/09/2022 16:41

Yes. I put chilli flakes on top.

OldTinHat · 08/09/2022 16:49

I've just devoured half a pot with a load of veggies. I forgot that I have rice cakes in the cupboard...I think the rest of the pot will disappear shortly!

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 08/09/2022 16:54

Yes I thought everyone knows it's The Hum in dip form. They generate The Hum and distill it and put it into hummus to get us all eating it like food zombies.
And one day we'll all start humming...
Fact.

nowaynotnownotever · 08/09/2022 16:55

It's the salt, very addictive 😋

PeloFondo · 08/09/2022 16:55

The sabra garlic one is amazing

AuntieMarys · 08/09/2022 16:56

Nice with marmite crackers

ChippingLeCrue · 08/09/2022 16:57

We buy those little single serve bottles from Nandos, the one they give you when you have hummus at Nandos. Peri Peri drizzle. I buy them 10 at a time, pour over and eat with lightly toasted pitta bread. Love hummus.

YellowBeetle · 08/09/2022 17:02

It's amazing stuff, I love having fresh bread, hummus and olives together. I can easily eat a pot to myself.

Delicious wallpaper paste.

🤣
Sadly not!

But it is cheap and healthy so I feed it to my dc, with sliced red peppers.

It's the salt and the oil, a perfect storm! 🙄😋

I make my own (sorry to sound like a knob 😅) but I can control how much fat and salt goes into it. I cook the chickpeas first in the slow cooker; add tahini paste, garlic, lemon juice, cumin, chili, drop of olive oil and chopped fresh coriander. Blitz it all up... 👍 I went mental one time and added cooked beetroot so had pink houmous 😲

N0tfinished · 08/09/2022 18:31

Oh god the Aldi Basil one on toast. Manna from above

Trebonay · 08/09/2022 18:58

I recently got about 15 packs of hummus, some caramelised onion (my fav) some plain, just before tesco closed, so they were pennies on yellow sticker shoved them all in the freezer and it's made my life tbh 😂 I am a hummus addict.

Hillrunning · 08/09/2022 19:05

I go through phases. Making my own is dangerous because to get it right, I have to make a big batch. And that then disappears very quickly
