I work in a school.

I have been told this morning that I must dress as a hero for tomorrow. Not a super hero, just a/my hero. I’m drawing a blank and do not have anything remotely resembling dress up clothes. I do have face paint.

who can I go as? I hate shit like this So Much.

Your Mum!

Hugasauras · 04/09/2022 20:54

Just draw some wrinkles on and say you've gone as your mum!

FusionChefGeoff · 04/09/2022 20:55

What subject do you teach? Let's think of a 'hero' in that field or in a passion of yours.

Sports / literature / science / music??

Wonderwoman

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 04/09/2022 20:55

Florence Nightingale? Long dress. Shower cap :)

NuffSaidSam · 04/09/2022 20:55

Pick the outfit you'd like to wear and work backwards from there. Most hero women wear regular clothes after all!

Tillsforthrills · 04/09/2022 20:56

Or draw on a unibrow and go as Frida Kahlo

AlohaMolly · 04/09/2022 21:00

I did seriously think about drawing on a unibrow for Frida Kahlo but wasn’t sure whether it would go down well!

I’m not teaching, I’m a one to one in a ks2 class.

I am so rubbish at stuff like this, I have a small wardrobe so not many clothes to choose from or adapt, and I hate any form of being looked at 😂

Although I do have a pair of black jodhpurs from back when I had spare money and time to horse ride. They probably don’t fit anymore…

Long black skirt, black suit jacket, white blouse and a sign with 'votes for women' and be Emmeline Pankhurst?

NuffSaidSam · 04/09/2022 21:03

Wear jeans and go as Michelle Obama or any woman who's every worn jeans. You're overthinking it.

Whataboutitthen · 04/09/2022 21:06

No clothes at all (Lady Godiva)?

I am 100% overthinking it.

Wear the jodhpurs and go as the Queen or Princess Anne, add a square scarf knotted in a triangle around your neck if available.

Hmm I suppose that would be a sure fire way to get the day off… and a disciplinary 😂

Black leggings white t shirt, black & white face paint.

go as snoopy, he's my hero!!

grayhairdontcare · 04/09/2022 21:11

Wear what you normally wear and go as any women that you have admired for any reason.
Hero's don't have to be famous

ReginaPerrin · 04/09/2022 21:13

Who is your hero? Is it someone you can easily emulate? If not, go as the invisible man and just don’t show up.

Epicstorm · 04/09/2022 21:14

Crap like this with no notice is why I’m glad I don’t teach anymore.

Wow that's incredibly short notice?

StopStartStop · 04/09/2022 21:18

Mahatma Gandhi.
Requires a sheet. (and a coterie of young girls but you can leave that bit out).

SpiritedSneeze · 04/09/2022 21:20

I work in a school and we are msde to do this stuff all the time, one time my class all just taped binliners to our shirts like capes and said we were bin men who were our heroes for collecting all the rubbish and keeping everywhere clean,
another time I wore a navy blue tshirt and my partners spare high vis trousers and went as a fire fighter.
So so many dress up days the motivation for costumes does die a bit.

muminthesunshine · 04/09/2022 21:20

You can literally go as anyone...!! I like the idea of a mother or grandmother....

ShirleyJackson · 04/09/2022 21:21

Tell us what clothes you have available and we can work from there.

Or, if you have any exercise gear put that on and be Jessica Ennis-Hill/Zola Budd/Sportswoman of choice?

Love this! And dead easy if you have the skirt and jacket.
