It’s “Microwave Cooking” by Lorna Rhodes. See screenshot

It used to be my go to recipe book when leaving in a bedsit in tbe 1980s with just a microwave!

Anyhow, if anyone does have it to hand, I would be super grateful if someone could snap a picture of the page for lentils curry!! 🙏

Ah I was going to say is it a specific recipe you wanted? Can’t help you I’m afraid as I don’t have the book...but it’s on eBay for £3.66 with free postage so you could have a copy again within a few days. Smile

NiqueNique · 03/09/2022 15:30

Oh found it for even cheaper! £2.88 including postage!

Anyway I hope someone sees this and has it so you can have your lentil curry. Smile

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 03/09/2022 15:43

Aw - thank you. It is / was the most extraordinary recipe. Simply red lentils, onion, oil, curry powder and - key secret ingredient- mango chutney. And done in the microwave. Very tasty and cheap and moreish - then all of a sudden you get sick of it.

(but if your ratios are off, you end up with an unholy sludgy mess)

It sounds good! I might try it if someone posts the recipe. Would be great for a quick warming meal.

imnotthatkindofmum · 03/09/2022 15:59

I be by mother in law does. She has every cook book ever written and doesn't even use one of them!

Not much help. It's probably in a box somewhere!

Yay!!

HebeSunshine · 03/09/2022 17:20

Any good dinners in that one, McConkeysPlate? Come winter we'll all be using the microwave instead of oven.

Nice ItsReallyOnlyMe 👍

A happy Myrtle with a full belly of lentil curry!

NiqueNique · 04/09/2022 12:01

Was it as good as you remembered?

SavingsThreads · 04/09/2022 12:02

Is it really that simple @MyrtlethePurpleTurtle? And is it dried lentils?!

NiqueNique · 04/09/2022 12:08

@SavingsThreads the little red lentils don’t have to be soaked so they’re brilliant for quick meals. I do still soak them for an hour or two because my DH is picky about the texture.

I’m definitely going to try this recipe, it would be a great one to have for lunches.

Bergamotte · 04/09/2022 12:10

That looks good. Fingers crossed that I don't end up with it boiling over and making a huge mess, as happened when I tried to make porridge in the microwave!

NiqueNique · 04/09/2022 12:14

Might be worth taking your timings down a bit if you have a powerful microwave, seeing as the book is quite old.
