Is Amazon Prime delivery getting worse?

acatox · 31/08/2022 20:03

I've had Amazon Prime for years and up until recently it's been great for next day delivery. However my experience recently has been that promised next day delivery isn't always met and expected deliveries don't materialise and I get a "we ran into an unexpected issue with your delivery"

Is this just a local problem or are people finding this a more general issue? I guess difficulty recruiting drivers/petrol costs/other current undifferentiated awfulness might impact?

Never ever had an issue with Amazon delivery.

YellowPlumbob · 31/08/2022 20:07

It is for me too.

Todays £100 school/Uni (for me!) supply delivery was, apparently, handed to a receptionist at the rear porch.

Neither of those exist.

I have to wait till Friday before they’ll refund or resend.

solarbirdscalm · 31/08/2022 20:09

There is a lot less that says next day delivery. My latest delivery from Amazon was via Royal Mail, which might obviously be impacted by the strikes. But yes I doubt few people can actually make money making deliveries now with petrol price rises.

No issues with mine currently

Testina · 31/08/2022 20:10

I haven’t had any issues once delivery is out, but I noticed last week that EVERYTHING was available 2 days later, not next day. So they must have reached capacity. I’ve also recently had a delivery via RM which I think is unusual for Amazon, again I guess at capacity.

gamerchick · 31/08/2022 20:11

It's to be expected tbf. Self employed drivers on really shit money. Amazon are wank employers and people are leaving in droves.

Partypoooooper · 31/08/2022 20:11

I have noticed recently (last few weeks) that lots of items are not available until the day after tomorrow where they would have been next day before.

AntlerRose · 31/08/2022 20:13

Yes we are finding that, and items not available and prices are not always cheaper. I am using shops more, which is probably a good thing.

userxx · 31/08/2022 20:13

The Amazon lockers around here are all full, you can't get a delivery to one.

Skyeheather · 31/08/2022 20:18

I think it depends where in the country your item is. Items coming from my region tend to be next day, something at the other end of the country two days. There's probably still a driver shortage, the media just don't report on it anymore.

MadisonAvenue · 31/08/2022 20:24

We don’t seem to have much of a problem getting items next day, and often by 1pm or even same day.

However, I’m finding that their delivery people arent waiting to see whether I’m in before leaving the parcel on the doorstep and going. Our doorbell camera picked one up yesterday who put the package down, rang the bell and immediately walked away yet they mark the item as being handed to the resident. I’ve noticed parcels on various doorsteps as I’ve walked around the village over the last few weeks too.

PlantsAndSpaniels · 31/08/2022 20:34

Have started getting deliveries which arrive after the promised time, or when they say you're less than 8 stops away and then suddenly change their minds.

I've started complaining when it happens. Last time they had obviously forgotten to ship the item as conveniently was dispatched after I complained. They did refund me as an apology.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 31/08/2022 20:44

I love about ten mins away from one of the nuggets Amazon warehouses. And even I don’t get next day.
what is annoying is it says next day on the item then when u go to pay it says two days delivery etc.
We have cancelled our Amazon prime renewal as one of the reasons I liked it was the next day or same day ( which was happening ). Then about six months ago it stopped. We don’t watch the tv side of it so without the next day it was pretty pointless.
Have seen a few threads on here saying people are cancelling as well.

TheOceanClub · 31/08/2022 20:47

Only once in these years I had a problem when they lost my parcel in transit somewhere. So instead of next day it turned up 2 days later. Wasn’t an emergency so not much of a problem.

Today my phone charger broke. Ordered one in the morning around 11 and the delivery guy came just before 6.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 31/08/2022 20:49

I get fed up when I order something that says next day, and in the basket it still says next day, but when the order processes it then changes to say thankyou, and tells me the delivery will the day 2 days, not next day anymore.

myusernameisalreadyused · 31/08/2022 20:50

we use it all the time for years and haven’t noticed any difference recently.

Mol1628 · 31/08/2022 20:52

Yes it’s not as good as it used to be.
Next day used to mean within business hours now it’s up to 10pm.
A lot of prime deliveries are now 2/3 days delivery instead of next day.

I suppose increased demand and less staff?

DogInATent · 31/08/2022 20:57

Very rarely have an issue with Prime deliveries and I get several a month, but we're in an area that's usually next-day even without Prime.

mondaytosunday · 31/08/2022 21:22

Been ok for me.

MinglingFlamingo · 31/08/2022 21:30

Oh I had this recently! I had handed to house resident. None of the residents were at home. Took ages to find the parcel which unlike most of the crap I get on Amazon I actually needed. Eventually was founded in some nook.

Especially as I'm kicking myself as I was 2 seconds from the house and saw the Amazon prime person get back from my house to her can. So why in a conversational way didn't I ask her where had she put it ???

limitededitionbarbie · 31/08/2022 21:36

Yep. It is by mine anyway. My leggings were handed to the resident apparently.

They were not. They were underneath my full bin. I only found them because of my nest doorbell.

He could have easily put them through my letterbox ffs.

I've had parcels just thrown on my drive in the middle of the drive for anyone to see. I live in a terraced road ffs.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 31/08/2022 21:40

We have a safe space nominated for if it's needed (we have a small boat on the drive with a cover, covered by our cctv) and occasionally it is used.

More and more we found parcels left in or under a different trailer, or behind or even iniside our recycling bin or black bin.

Now we find they get marked 'handed to resident' or delivered and they have just been left in plain sight on our doorstep. They don't even knock before they leave the parcel either.

Several things have gone missing, and have been refunded. But they'd save a lot of money if the parcels were correctly delivered.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 01/09/2022 07:15

Ours are always delivered when they say they will be, but vary rarely is it next day anymore, most things are available the day after next. And always left on the doorstep, sometimes they don't even bother ringing the bell, but marked as handed to resident or posted through letterbox.

TigerRag · 01/09/2022 07:31

I'm finding this more and more. Ordered 2 things Monday, one arrived yesterday and the other is meant to arrive today.

Ducksinthebath · 01/09/2022 08:18

Mine is coming later and later. It used to be around lunchtime but now we’re lucky if Amazon get to us before 10pm. Not always great even when we’re home, and very antisocial if either we’re not and something arrives a day early or they don’t even bother knocking. Poor neighbours.
