Hello. After several months of contemplation I have just been offered a job in West Yorkshire. I am relocating from the South with my primary school aged child for a better QOL (single parent) and I would be really grateful for your views/ information about good and bad bits of living, school, property costs in these areas. I will be commuting into Bradford for work. Thanks so much for your help!

If you intend to use the train for work then living along the Wharfedale line is a good idea. For various reasons, it appears to be a prioritised line so when there have been things happening over the last few years (strikes, extreme weather, covid, etc), a good level of service has still been maintained on that line.

Just to say we live in Horsforth (moved from Shropshire 7 years ago) and bloody love it. Lovely place, feels so safe, park is lovely, the restaurants and bars in town street & new road side are fab. Easy access into Leeds, great schools. We just love it here! 😊 best of luck with your house search!

Hi @Nellynoo182 I realise this is an old thread but I’m wondering if you can advise what parts of horsforth to avoid? We are also planning on relocating, I’ve heard so many good things about horsforth but have also heard some parts are a bit rough. Would need to be near good primary school too!

@Moomin88the nearer you are to Horsforth secondary school the better, thinking ahead to secondary schools and catchment areas. I think all primary’s are good/ outstanding so I don’t think you can go wrong there.

The side that’s further away from the school is broadway/ new road side area, you’d be heading down the hill to the station then up to cookridge so definitely look over the other side of horsforth, more from the top of horsforth hall park and streets between and near to there and Horsforth school.

I can’t edit anymore, but Horsforth school is constantly oversubscribed, only accepts people from an ls18 postcode based on distance, the nearer the better.

@Peabody25 thank you so much that’s really useful to know. Do you find any issues with Horsforth being on the flight path? We are coming to visit for a couple of days in Easter so hope to get more of a feel for it then.

Ahh sorry I’m in a town nearish to horsforth but not in it, so no idea with flight path sorry.
