Hi, just wondering if anyone knows what this is? It started out as a small white lump which the doctor told me was a collection of fat cells 🤷‍♀️ any way it’s recently gotten quite a bit worse and looks more maybe like a boil? I’ve drawn around it and it isn’t getting any bigger but also isn’t going and it’s quite red and sore. I’m reluctant to go to docs as I’ve had a LOT of horrible stomach issues lately which have meant I’ve been there quite a bit, I’ve got an appointment with a specialist about colonoscopy results on Tuesday as I’m going like 10 times a day and have nausea and vomiting which has lasted over half a year. I recently went away and fainted twice once one the airplane and now I’m at my wits end with my health and I’m sure the docs are fed up of my face so don’t want to go and get this checked unless necessary. TIA

Where on your body is it

Rainbowdrops2021 · 28/08/2022 16:06

Collection of fat cells could mean a lipoma. Where is it?

Change your GP urgently. They frequently get it wrong due to the system.

welshweasel · 28/08/2022 16:08

Can you post a picture from further away?

Rainbowdrops2021 · 28/08/2022 16:13

ok it’s a bit difficult to get a better picture without catching something explicit 😳😬

Just used dds ruler if that helps, it’s 5 cm long and 2 wide.

I think you need an urgent GP appt. That may be an abcess that could turn to sepsis.

I can see you've drawn round it, but what are the other dark marks on your skin? Is that your natural usual pigmentation or something new?

Rainbowdrops2021 · 28/08/2022 16:33

Around the actual lump is a bit of a funny colour but the lines are my stretch marks from having dc.

themimi · 28/08/2022 16:42

Not a doctor. It I agree, call 111. That looks very strange and I'd be worried about sepsis.

Footle · 28/08/2022 16:58

I am not a doctor.
At least show the consultant on Tuesday. Take a toothbrush and phone charger.

Rainbowdrops2021 · 28/08/2022 17:03

It’s a telephone appointment 😩 and he’s part of the endoscopy unit so not sure how much he’d be able to help. I just feel like my body is giving up on me. I’m so run down, the fainting and everything just isn’t like me I was perfectly healthy before this last half a year or so. I might head to the walk in tomorrow and get it checked, bank holiday weekend so I think I’ll be there for hours. Thanks for all of your replies.

Its difficult to see, the skin around it looks a bit mottled. I would call for medical advice. Does it feel, hot, hard or squishy.

Gallant282 · 28/08/2022 19:39

Definitely get it checked. I have lots of health issues (include bowel problems-IBD) and I completely understand not wanting to 'bother' the gp again but that's what they're there for and unfortunately when one thing goes wrong other things sometimes follow.

I have crohns disease, I'm not saying that's what your digestive issues are but it's not uncommon for it to cause skin problems as well. Show it to the consultant on Tuesday as well.

Rainbowdrops2021 · 28/08/2022 20:23

I’m keeping my fingers firmly crossed for some answers on Tuesday and I’ll head to the walk in tomorrow to get the lump checked.
@Gallant282 you’re right once one thing starts to go wrong it has impacts in other areas. Since having digestive problems I’ve had more infections and illnesses than I’ve ever had in my life. I’m sure the root cause of all of it is what ever is going on with my stomach. I will also ask about chrones.

Is it on the back of your leg? I can't understand the picture

When were you told it it fat cells?

Rainbowdrops2021 · 28/08/2022 21:56

It’s on the front, sort of in my groin area. I was told it was fat cells ages ago when it just looked like a small hard white lump, over the last week it has swollen and become red and is now 5 cm long.

I've had a lipoma, mine didn't differentiate in colour to the rest of my body.

UpsideDownDownsideUp · 28/08/2022 22:11

Ive had the same. Had for weeks then it 'popped' after some antibiotics. Then had an antibiotic cream to put on after.
In fact ive had a few. From groin area to face. I feel your pain but seriously see gp.
The worst i had was between my eye brows but to one side of the nose. I had to have it drained.

sleepwhenyouaredead · 28/08/2022 22:27

Was the colonoscopy normal? - they usually give you some information at the time.
Is it raised and hot and tender to the touch?

sleepwhenyouaredead · 28/08/2022 22:28

It doesn't look like a lipoma

Rainbowdrops2021 · 28/08/2022 22:37

They couldn’t see anything obvious during but took some biopsies any way which is what the specialist is giving me the results of. I’m not holding out much hope of answers as I’m assuming they would have seen the issue then and there. I had raised calprotectin over 1000 and blood in my stool plus low vitamin b12 and folate. Tmi but I’ve been going to the toilet at its worst up to 15 times a day mostly water and I’ve had vomiting, on Wednesday I fainted twice, once on a flight home from my holiday and now this. I just feel really unwell.

OP posts:
Rainbowdrops2021 · 28/08/2022 22:40

It is raised yes, I wouldn’t say it feels hot but it’s very sore.

OP posts:
NighghtmareNeighbour · 28/08/2022 22:41

That is not a lipoma. Your gp is crap. Please ask to speak to someone else.

sleepwhenyouaredead · 28/08/2022 22:42

That does sound like Crohn's disease. It maybe at the ned of the small bowel ( terminal ileum) rather than in the colon if your B12 is low as it is absorbed there.
I think you need a scan to see if this is an abscess or is tracking from somewhere. Have you a temperature and did they measure a CRP?
