Hi, just wondering if anyone knows what this is? It started out as a small white lump which the doctor told me was a collection of fat cells 🤷‍♀️ any way it’s recently gotten quite a bit worse and looks more maybe like a boil? I’ve drawn around it and it isn’t getting any bigger but also isn’t going and it’s quite red and sore. I’m reluctant to go to docs as I’ve had a LOT of horrible stomach issues lately which have meant I’ve been there quite a bit, I’ve got an appointment with a specialist about colonoscopy results on Tuesday as I’m going like 10 times a day and have nausea and vomiting which has lasted over half a year. I recently went away and fainted twice once one the airplane and now I’m at my wits end with my health and I’m sure the docs are fed up of my face so don’t want to go and get this checked unless necessary. TIA

Also, you need to insist on an MRI of your small bowel, or a pill cam from your specialist to check your entire bowel. Colonoscopy only looks at your colon and the joint between large and small bowel. There are yards of intestines not viewed on a colonoscopy that need to be imaged in someone with your symptoms and calprotectin level.

Are you bathing it?

I would bathe it in hot as you can stand saly water (not boiling) 3x a day. Slather it in Savlon or Sudocreme . Ideally get some drawing ointment from the pharmacy.

**salty

That lump looks like a boil or cyst. Nothing like a lipoma. If you look up Dr Pimple Popper on YouTube you can see different types of lumps. It might need draining if it's a cyst.
Your other symptoms sound like an IBD flare - if the colonoscopy doesn't show inflammation it might be elsewhere. Ulcerative colitis affects the colon only ( I have it) but Crohns can be any part of the digestive system.

Hope you get answers for both!

Your pictures are not great but this is an infected sebaceous cyst or infected hair follicle ( follicular abscess) . You can see the dark punctum.
Either way there is now an abscess which will require treatment.

you could try a warm salty water bath or a warm compress or lance it with a sterilised needle. I would see your out of hours GP particularly if you feel unwell in yourself or have a raised temperature.

Do not lance it !!!!

Hi, thank you for all of your suggestions. I’ve been to the walk in and she said it was hot to touch and infected so I’m now on antibiotics and have been told of it gets any worse go to a&e to have it drained. Now just to wait for my appointment tomorrow and hopefully get the other stuff sorted. Thanks again everyone.

Sounds like a cyst then rather than a lypoma
