Cool brands for teenage boys

questionsneverstop · 28/08/2022 14:26

I need to buy some new clothes for my boy (14 years old). When he was in primary I always bought in Primark and H&M. He has lots of Nike and Adidas but I would like to explore other brands.
what is cool these days?

My Ds who likes Nike and Adidas has recently started buying North Face.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 28/08/2022 15:09

Pull and Bear, Hollister, Original Penguin, Superdry and Vans

bluevioletsky · 28/08/2022 15:13

Totally depends on your area / peer group. My son wouldn’t wear any of the brands @Fivemoreminutes1 mentioned, sorry! but he also buys most of his own clothes now too (I just provide the cash!) Does your son have any thoughts?

As prev poster said all depends on the area. Round here all the teen boys are wearing Technicals and Montirex with a touch of Nike.

Sparklingbrook · 28/08/2022 15:18

But would he? I would hold off buying designer stuff unless he's asking for it. My DSs started to love their designer labels at around 6th form age (with the exception of football gear-especially boots, that came way younger), up until then they were happy with a mix of Primark and Sports brands.

weekendninja · 28/08/2022 15:20

What does your son want to wear? If he is happy in Nike, and you can afford it, let him wear Nike. This is the age where he finds his style rather than you!

MissBattleaxe · 28/08/2022 15:23

Yes as @weekendninja says, it's far too expensive to second guess a teen! If he likes Nike, buy Nike. Never go off piste!

goldfinchonthelawn · 28/08/2022 15:23

DC had zero interest in brands but their friends who did were all into North Face, Supreme, Adidas. Jack Wills if they had to dress more smartly.

Hollister and Superdry used to be cool but are now seen as Dadwear apparently.

cookiecreammmpie · 28/08/2022 15:27

My son and all his friends wear Under Armour, Nike and North Face

Riverlee · 28/08/2022 15:31

North Face, Nicce, napiriji, Nike (there are other brands that don’t begin with N!)

Superdry and Jack Wills were more ‘in’ a few years ago, but not so much now.

Maybe when you next are out and about, look to see what the locals are wearing, as fashions can vary by area.

Under armour, Nike & The North face 😊 x

Ask him.
It's area and age specific. Some of the brands listed above, no teens here would wear. Some of them, they would. There was a little flurry for Gucci a few years ago. Now there's a lot of band t-shirts.

realhousewifeofoc · 28/08/2022 15:38

It's really dependent on area/friendshipgroup etc ! My 14 year old wears nike, stone island, lacoste, Calvin klein and CP. He wouldn't wear a lot of brands mentioned in this thread. My 13 year old however wears totally different brands ( Tommy, kwd etc)

TheStarsDontShine · 28/08/2022 15:39

Carhartt, huf, Obey, Stone Island, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren with Nike, North Face and some H and M here - lucky to live near an outlet village!

Galarunner · 28/08/2022 15:45

My 16 year old son wears band t shirts, baggy jumpers from charity shops, combat trousers, army boots or vans. He basically dresses like my boyfriends of 30 years ago ( I don't tell him this in case it puts him off and he starts asking for expensive clothes !)

Riverlee · 28/08/2022 15:47

Just seen the price of Stone Island! £150 + for a plain tshirt (with small logo).

bert3400 · 28/08/2022 15:48

My DS13 like NICCE and Tommy H, but he also got very excited about a Greggs bucket hat from primark. Pull & Bear are also good for a cheaper cooler brand than H&M

Oh yes, the time I spent at Cheshire Oaks and the one in York, while they went in and out of all the of those shops. Now they can drive themselves there and pay for their own overpriced labels!

weebarra · 28/08/2022 15:53

DS1 (14) wears North Face, Nike, Adidas, Under Armour and Napapijri.
DS2 (12) wears similar but still likes his Scandi Molo t shirts too.

Miracle29 · 28/08/2022 15:54

My son absolutly loves boohoo man. Alot of kids wear it in his school ots very popular but they don't do kids they start from xs small mens so depends how big your ds is. My ds is tall and wears small otherwise it mostly nike

sunglassesonthetable · 28/08/2022 16:04

Oh yes. DS had some friends over the other day and they were all talking about the Greggs stuff from Primark.

MomwasCasual · 28/08/2022 16:58

They're so bloody random, my soon to be 15 year old is into Ralph Lauren Polo shirts (second hand), Fred Perry shirts, Dickies branded clothing and Schoffel farming wear. Yes really.

questionsneverstop · 28/08/2022 17:30

Wow, thanks for all your answers. I really didn’t think that it was area specific, but as some of you asked, I can say we are in London (south, if soooo specific lol) and he is 14.

I know this is an old thread but it came up when I searched and quite frankly I cba to start my own thread with an identical question so I hope OP doesn’t mind me using their thread!
How does this hold up? Are these still good brands for teenage boys? I have no idea where to shop for my yr9 son and he isn’t given me any input (other than occasional grunts!)
